[REVIEW] J.ONE Jelly Pack

J.one Jelly Pack Review:

I kept seeing this J.one jelly pack coming up in K-beauty reviews, but it never quite caught my attention sufficiently to read the reviews because of its very plain packaging. Neither do the name of “jelly pack” help because I have no idea what it is for.

Then I saw it on the highly popular Korean beauty show “Get it Beauty”. The J.one jelly pack is developed by a popular Korean actress Ha Ji-won, to meet the needs of busy on-the-good women like her. I was enticed by its multi-functions claim of being hydrating, pore-smoothing and especially the tagline used by Ha Ji-won is that it is a “corset for your face” ie. firming and lifting. In addition, the jelly pack is free of ingredients that are generally frowned upon – parabens, mineral oils, sulfates and phthalates. Doesn’t that sounds just like what I need for my complicated skin type?

[REVIEW] Etude House Big Cover Concealer Kit

[REVIEW] Etude House Big Cover Concealer Kit

Etude House Big Cover Concealer Kit Review:

My eyes had been a saving grace to my very problematic skin and I hardly paid attention to eye products. Alas, all good things must come to an end. Fine lines and dark circles have announced their presence in recent years. So while I am still trying to find a competent skincare product for these, my best bet for now would be on concealer.
But just as with foundation, there is always the challenge of finding the correct shade to provide the needed coverage. I was therefore delighted when I came across the Etude House Big Cover Concealer Kit, thinking it should save me the hassle of having to search for the right one. So let’s see if I have enjoyed playing make-up with this Concealer Kit.

[REVIEW] Banobagi Vita Genic Lifting Jelly Mask

[REVIEW] Banobagi Vita Genic Lifting Jelly Mask

Banobagi Vita Genic Lifting Jelly Mask Review:

Facial sheet masks have been gaining so much popularity and there are so many to choose from with very wide ranging prices. Sheet masks are yet to be a regular in my skincare routine. I use it to pamper myself occasionally or when a perk-me-up is needed. I would rather spend the similar amount on a bottle of, say, moisturiser than a box of 10 masks. Some converts however do swear by the wonders that regular use of sheet masks have done for their skin.

I have never hear of Banobagi before, and soon discovered it is the name of a well-reviewed South Korean aesthetic clinic in Gangnam. So the sucker in me was thrilled to find another cosmeceutical brand to try out! The highlight of this mask is liposome, which allows effective absorption of the ingredients by the skin. It comes in 4 types – Hydrating, Lifting, Whitening and Brightening. I will be reviewing the lifting mask today.

[REVIEW] CNP Laboratory Daily Peeling Foam

[REVIEW] CNP Laboratory Daily Peeling Foam

CNP Laboratory Daily Peeling Foam Review:

After falling in love with the CNP Laboratory Tone-up Protection Sun, I started to pay more interest to products by this brand. The background of starting as a dermatology clinic and its philosophy of producing high quality skincare products lend me confidence that CNP products should hit the right note with my skin. What next caught my eye is the CNP Laboratory Daily Peeling Foam.

[REVIEW] CNP Laboratory Tone-up Protection Sun SPF42 PA+++

[REVIEW] CNP Laboratory Tone-up Protection Sun SPF42 PA+++

CNP Laboratory Tone-up Protection Sun SPF42 PA+++ Review:

Skincare regime is a complex thing, I would say. I am a beauty junkie and like checking out the many products and purposes. Even I occasionally get a headache from scouring through them.  So for the minimalists out there who prefer a less cluttered life, my (non-representative) suggestion is to have at least the basics; cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen.

Admittedly, sunscreen would not have been on my list years back.  I became aware of sunscreen only in my early 30s (do I hear some gasps of shock?)! I periodically made purchases of sunscreen, exploring both drugstore and luxury brands.  But I quickly moved from one brand to another because of either the sticky feeling, the whitecast or the breakouts they caused. I was on the verge of giving up, but pigmentations start to show up more obviously on my skin and I decided it is time I take sun protection seriously. Better late than never.

[REVIEW] Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask

[REVIEW] Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask Review:

On a lazy day, what is one make-up item that you will put on your face for a quick perk-me-up? It is likely lip colours. Ironically, the lips are the most neglected part of our face when it comes to skincare routine. We diligently remove traces of make-up on our face, but it is easy to overlook removing our lip colours. After all, when the colours fade from our lips at the end of the day, it is easy to forget.

And so I bear the consequences. I have lost count of how many lip balms I had bought in my attempts to recover my dry chapped lips. It was embarrassing whenever I talked to someone and felt them gazing at my lips, which I am sure it was not because the lips were full and lustrous but instead because they looked disastrous.

I was curious when I came across the Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask as lip balm was the only lip product that I knew off besides lip colours then. Aritaum is by Amore Pacific, whose more popular brands include the better known Innisfree, Etude House, Laneige, Iope, Sulwhasoo etc. In comparison, Aritaum products are at the lower end of the price spectrum. But it is by no means an inferior brand to its more sophisticated cousins.

[REVIEW] April Skin Fixing Lip Shield

[REVIEW] April Skin Fixing Lip Shield

April Skin Fixing Lip Shield Review:

Many of us are constantly looking for long lasting, transfer-proof lip colour products. It saves the hassle of having to re-apply. It avoids us looking unkempt with smudged lips. It saves embarrassment of lip marks on cups or boyfriends. We dream of looking impeccable with full sexy pouts like Song Hye Kyo, Jun Ji Hyun, Park Shin Hye and the list goes on.

Many lip colour products claimed to be long lasting and smudge-proof but not all performed as claimed. There are some that are decent enough, but we hope that the colours could hold out even better and longer.
So short of tattoo-ing our lips, here comes lip top coat. Different brands call it differently, but essentially, this is one product that is to be applied over your lip colour and seal it in to grant you long lasting and smudge-proof lip colour.  I was excited to try the April Skin Fixing Lip Shield and waited for it to arrive in my mailbox eagerly.

[REVIEW] Skin79 Vita Glow BB Master

[REVIEW] Skin79 Vita Glow BB Master

Skin79 Vita Glow BB Master Review:

I was watching the StyleCast trend report segment on Arirang channel and this Skin79 Vital Glow BB Master was being introduced. I have heard about the brand Skin79 and its highly raved BB creams but had never gotten down to try any. The BB Master is touted as a new concept product that blends ampoule with BB Cream, thus providing skincare and coverage at the same time.

It just sounded so good, I quickly googled to see how to get my hands on this. I think it was a relatively new product then (in Apr 2017) and I had a hard time finding it online. Even up till now, I also do not see it selling on the more common platforms such as Amazon and Ebay. Being the non-conformist, I am always game to try out the lesser known products. It can be rather exciting and satisfying to find a hidden gem out there.

[REVIEW] Dr.G A-Clear Balancing Moisturizer

[REVIEW] Dr.G A-Clear Balancing Moisturizer

Dr.G A-Clear Balancing Moisturizer Review:

I seem to be forever on the quest to look for an ideal moisturizer for my sensitive, oily and dehydrated skin.  Wait, some of you may ask – Oily and dehydrated? Yes, woe is me.  My skin is in such conflict, I am too when looking for suitable moisturizer. Am I to look for one for oily skin but tend to be not moisturizing enough or one for dry skin to plump up my skin but could potentially make it oozes more oil.  To make matter worse, my skin is showing signs of aging and loss of elasticity

Dr. G (which in full is Dr Gowoonsesang), developed by Dr. Ahn Gun-Young, is purportedly the No.1 skin clinic/centre in Korea and its products are extremely popular, said to be used by 1 out of every eight Korean women.
