Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint PK005 Ice Cream Bar was purchased by Cosmeperks.
First of all this product is incredibly popular and it sold out right away, I was lucky enough to get my hands on one! I know there were people luckier than me as they got all of them, or at least got to choose between all the available colors. I had 3 out of the 6 colors to choose from! But I still got my hands on one.
Etude House didn’t make a whole new collection, as they did with the wonderful park, or others before them. At least not yet. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why this small piece of adorableness is completely sold out! There’s only one product type from this new collection, and its these adorable lip tints. And I know you at least think the package is attractive, even if you’re not into cute stuff.
Okay, it’s adorable and incredibly popular, but is it good?
The moisture tint expresses sweet color like ice cream as it refreshingly melts into the lips.

Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint PK005 Ice Cream Bar Review:
Before I start the review I want to show you how it went at the store. I went there and there were only three colors available, right? But at least I was lucky enough to be able to try on all of the 5 available colors from the testers. Usually, the testers finish pretty quickly, sometimes faster than the product! That’s why brands like Tony Moly rarely have testers for limited edition stuff.
Anyway, I got the 6 colors on my arm. They are all cute in their own way, but the most fascinating is exactly the one you can’t see in the photo. It looks like unicorn saliva; it’s shiny and has small glitters. So if you have the chance to see it for yourself at a local store, I would totally advise you to do that out of fascination.
Anyway, I was headed to pick my color, and I saw this video, it was “filling up” the ice cream of their PK006 Jewel Red color! It’s the shiny unicorn saliva color. It’s definitely something to consider as a future buy.
Anyway, off to review the product!
This is the only useful piece of information in English. As usual, no ingredient list, but it has a “directions” part, as if applying lip tint was so complicated.
From the handle to the box itself, all of this package is adorable. Some ice creams here really have that shape and really are sold with cardboard boxes like this one, and the handle (the stick) really comes out of the box, and it’s just so realistically adorable!
One problem of lots of liquid tints and lip sticks is that the edges either get dirty, or dirty everything. This one has a big hole between the edge of the box and the tint applicator itself, and I don’t think they did it with that in mind, but at least I know I won’t get tint everywhere when I close it!
An example of how I adjusted the tint and there’s no way it’ll appear on the edge of the box and dirty my pouch.
The applicator brush has a small dimple. I noticed there are two main types of brushes for these things, and I decided to call them a dimple stick (like this one) and a fluffy stick (like the normal lip gloss brushes).
One problem I found right away is that it was uncomfortable to hold. And I didn’t know why it was uncomfortable until I started using it later on. So, I hold the brush like this to apply it, and the applicator is turned to another direction.
I don’t know if it was an assembly error or if they’re all like this, but it’s a little bothersome since the place where we hold is flat and that doesn’t leave many choices to hold it.
The tint, as you can see, is incredibly transparent. My lips are dark, so I wanted one of the darker colors but they were all gone. But this is what we have, and actually that’s better to evaluate the product!
So, it’s incredibly watery and transparent, but it’s a tint so it still stains the lips, don’t judge it wrongly just because it’s almost transparent.
These are my lips while hydrated (slightly lighter than when dry). I applied as they show in the website, first a gradation and then full lips. Well, from one to the other there isn’t much of a difference! However I did wrongly make a pre-judgement about the tint. I had assumed it would be pretty useless on my lips, but it isn’t. It actually makes my grey dull lips look very much alive!
I also used it on dehydrated lips, and it didn’t help at all, it was like putting water on them. The color showed and stuck to the lips well, of course, but my lips were dry so I had to apply vaseline regardless.
The tint lasts “forever” if you let it dry and don’t use a tint remover. It really lasts for a long time. I used it one night at around 8, then forgot about it (I kept applying lip balm and vaseline) and the next morning my lips still had a slight pink gradation (even by using a lip sleeping mask).
BUT it never really dries 100%. What I mean is, you let it “dry” until it stops being watery. After that it gains a permanent state of stickiness. So, it is always a little sticky and a little shiny like lip gloss! This stickiness can smudge on your skin and tint it, so be careful if like me you need to keep re-applying lip balm.
For example, I drank coffee with the tint on. The tint/sticky part of the tint transferred a little to the mug. But it didn’t wash off from the lips much, the lips remained colored (because of the tint ability of… tinting).
The scent is delicious! It’s sweet but not too strong. It’s weak enough to make it just sweet, and not childish! But I tried licking it from my lips (it would happen sooner or later, since I would eat with the tint on my lips – and I did and it was the same) and there’s a sweet flavor. But right away, and not discreet at all, there’s a bitter flavor too! So avoid “eating” it as much as possible, it can ruin your food’s flavor.
Well, first of all it’s not moisturizing at all, even if they say it is. But since it’s cute and adorable I will still want another, stronger, color! But now I know the down sides of this tint (bitterness, light color, not hydrating, etc) and can work with that. It is a pretty affordable tint after all!
After a few weeks of trying this one all the colors became available again (yay for Korea restocking popular stuff!) and I was able to get my hands on the color I originally wanted: the watermelon red. Everything I said about the other one still applies: the color intensity, the color duration, the need for a lip balm once it dries since it doesn’t moisturize the lips at all.
But this color is indeed a little darker (since it’s red instead of pink) and so on lips like mine, that have a little more pigmentation, it makes a big difference. The previous color makes my lips look naturally pretty, whereas this one actually shows a tint color. I had been using the pink color often since it doesn’t smudge at all, and now I have both these products in my pouch.
