[Review] The Face Shop x TROLLS Mono Pop Eyes 01 Joyful Candy Drop

The Face Shop x TROLLS Mono Pop Eyes 01 Joyful Candy Drop Review:

a part of the beautifully designed troll collection, The Face Shop also released eyeshadow palettes. Well, I’m a fan of their eyeshadows, they usually feel really comfortable on my skin, and I do enjoy their color choices. Also, the eyeshadow palettes from each collection have unique colors, of course they’re always similar to their existing colors (in a way) but they are actually exclusive to each collection. Who doesn’t appreciate some uniqueness, right?

We’ll see if these eyeshadows are good like their usual ones, how long they last, and their colors.

Claims:

Eight ultra cute and wearable colors in one palette! Get 200% use out of one palette. Mix and match these everyday eye-wear shades that work for every skin tone.

As they say, these eyeshadows match every skin tone. If you look carefully at the colors on my palette (don’t guide yourself through my skin tone) you’ll notice they are all actually neutral colors. So, all I had to do is choose which palette I liked the most!

The 01 palette is the one I ended up purchasing. The 02 palette is the other one. I swatched the both palette shades on my hand at store.

The first palette has only glitter colors, with the exception of the base color. The 02 palette has only 4 glitter colors. Since I always wear matte colors, I decided to choose the glitter version for a change, and also the package was more my style (it’s blue a beautiful blue color)!

After you remove the outside package, which is disposable like a candy package, you have the actual eyeshadow box. In this case, it has shiny little stars around the character (Poppy), and it feels very sturdy.

Comparing to the Disney Mike/Mikey/Pooh palettes, it’s slightly fatter, but that makes it more comfortable to grip. Also, it’s not heavier than those, just sturdier. Which, in this case, also works in a prettier design in my opinion.

This is the back side of the eyeshadow palette. It says the name and weight of the palette, but it doesn’t say the individual names of the colors they used, which is a little sad and Etude House always wins when it comes to the coolest names.

So I’ll write the names here. For shadow 01 they are, by order:

Milky chu, angel food, baby orange, melon candy drop, candy violet, baked orange sugar, cinnamon candy, milk chocolate crunch.

And for the 02 palette:

Yogurt, moist pink sugar, grapefruit pink tea, very chu (berry chu), cupcake pink, earl grey brownie, crunchy berry, smoke rose.

The palette comes with a protection on the mirror, and one on the eyeshadows themselves.  They’re just protections, but I like to keep at least the eyeshadow one, since it keeps the mirror clean.

The small sponge brush has an overall application side (left) and a point makeup side (right). The sponges are normal, except that they absorb well, so if you like to add liquid to your eyeshadow it’s not a good idea to use this sponge or it’ll be a pain to clean it later.

The durability test: Other than the eyeshadows, I applied a CC cushion and a sebum powder before applying the eyeshadows, and mascara afterwards.

On the inner half of the eye, I applied the matte color, and on the outer side two glitter colors mixed. I like using discreet looks with just a hint of color, to give a “deeper european eyes” look. But believe me when I say it’s enough to see how the eyeshadows work.

You can tell on the photo that after 6 hours passed there is less “base” color, making my eye color overall darker. Also, when I closed my eyes the base color was all set on my eyelid fold.

The other two colors however were exactly as I put them! The reason why it looks different is because there’s no light color contrasting with them.

And when I removed my makeup there were no glitter leftovers (thank you The Face Shop). You know how glitter gets everywhere and doesn’t come out – usually!

So, as a conclusion, I am quite pleased with this palette. I’m glad I purchased the glitter palette since they do have a little better quality than the matte one, and to use the matte one with greasy eye skin you would definitely have to apply an eye primer. It’s my new favorite palette as it has neutrals, and a purple and a green! Awesome for discreet looks.
