Femmue Extraordinary Beauty Cleansing Balm Review:
I have been following (literally, on Instagram) since their very beginning. They appealed to me for the design, of course, but mainly for the brand concept. To put it short “flower everything and as natural as possible”. When their only showroom opened it was pouring rain but I still wanted to go pay them a visit (call me a fangirl). There I learned new things about this honey colored cleansing balm which I had already been using for some time (not a long time in a row, but a lot of times spread between other balm cleansers). Gladly I always take photos of every product when I open them for the first time, so I thought I should edit those photos and write this review for you – telling you everything I learned about it!
Has a gentle steam mask effect on your skin as you use it, deeply cleans the skin, has the effect of a hydrating mask, “at home spa” by doing an aroma therapy with the flower scents.
Has a 3 transform system, it starts by being a balm, and when you apply it on your skin it becomes an oil by melting, and when you wash it off it becomes milky during the process.
The top note scent is that of flowers (damascus rose), the middle note is of citrus, and the base note scent is bergamot.

Femmue Extraordinary Beauty Cleansing Balm Review:
On a small note, lately companies have been embossing details on their packages, and that makes for a nice and elegant touch.
These are all the contents of the package. The balm recipient, the protective lid, the lid, the box itself (of course) and a funny shaped spatula. Although the spatula is funny shaped, it’s just as comfortable to use as any other “normal” spatula, so there’s nothing I can add here.
You can see on the image on the right side that it’s relatively small, so you can also imagine the size of the recipient (also small).
The cleansing balm is a beautiful golden color. It really looks like clarified honey! The scent is so discreet that I had to put my nose in the pot to be able to feel it. It’s really pleasant, of flowers, and even though after using it
I read the ingredient list and it says it has cinnamon (which I hate) it doesn’t smell like cinnamon at all! Rather the cinnamon enhances the natural sweetness of the flowers, and makes it less garden-y and more human friendly. Don’t get me wrong, I love the scent of gardens, but sometimes greens and tree barks have an intense smell like a home scent spray.
I used this product before and so I know that you don’t need much of it to apply to your face. This small amount is enough for my arm (as you will see), and a little more than double is enough for my whole face.
Femmue has this policy of having a small needed amount for using the products. For example, in a face mask (leave in mask or sleeping mask) of the same size of this pot there’s enough product to use 20 times with your fingers, or almost double with a brush application and still be fully effective on your skin.
But back to this balm, the same applies: you don’t need much product for it to have full effect, you only need enough to cover your skin in the thinnest layer you can.
In the first image you can see my favorite choice of eye shadows: shimmer red, matte pink, and glittery blue; and you can see a Kiss Me waterproof mascara. These are the products that always make me struggle the most to clean them off, so I chose them.
On the second image you can see how balmy the product looks when you first slide it on your skin.
Then, as you start massaging (first picture) the balm melts into an oil, and it slides even easier on the skin. The scent activates a little during this step.
Afterwards, you wash it off with water, massaging a little further. The balm then turns into a milky substance, and deepens the cleansing of the skin.
When I use this on my face, it’s during this step I can notice the most amazing characteristic of this product: it doesn’t leave residue like other balm or oil cleansers!
After I rinse the water off, the sad news is that it doesn’t remove waterproof mascara. The good news is that other than having no residue the skin is soft as if I had just applied a wash off mask!
I used my arm to show you, but the feelings and experiences were written after using it on my face a few times. And so, after using it a few times I wanted to know how the “aroma therapy” part would work.
To have the aroma therapy “thing” working, I added more product (instead of using the amount in the previous photos, I used a whole dip with the spatula) and sat on the sofa calmly massaging my face.
I never had real aroma therapy so I don’t know how similar it is, but the flower scent is so relaxing that it calms me (and therefore my skin) from the inside. It probably only works with people who like flower scents, like me, but for those like me it does feel really good.
So, as a water proof makeup remover I definitely need to find something else. So sad. They never said it removes makeup though! But it removes simple and basic makeup and like that and with all the other characteristics (no residue, deep cleansing without dehydrating, mask effect, nice scent) I dare say I wish I could just use this product forever.
But seriously, now I need to find another mascara remover (I don’t like those small liquid bottles).
