[REVIEW] Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++ in shade 23

Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++ in shade 23 Review:

If there’s a make-up product that I love so much, it would be cushion foundation. At least next to lipstick, who doesn’t love lipstick anyway? I think that cushion foundations is one of the most genius invention in terms of beauty if not the most. I used to love BB creams, but they are a little too much to work with and quite messy if you need mid-day touch ups. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe IOPE carried this innovation. Since I got my hands on this product, I never looked back again.

I even ditched Mac Studio Finish Foundation because I preferred light, dewy finish that cushion foundations offer. I am very much happy with low coverage cushions, until recently. You see, I had a major breakout. And I mean, MAJOR. And as much as I try to stay away from using make up, there are days that I just have to, or whenever I need to feel prettier. LOL ☺  Anyway I was searching for a cushion foundation that offers coverage and that’s how I found Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion.

Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion comes in pretty box which also reflects the cushion design. This cushion foundation is decently priced at 30USD with a refill, although it was on sale when I got this. I bought the shade 23, which is my usual shade since 21 is way too light for my skin.

Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion seems like a normal cushion to me. The only difference I noticed is that the sponge is flesh in color, instead of blue. This cushion also uses mocha-type of cushion wherein the bb/foundation is sandwiched in cushion and not actually sitting at the bottom of the pan. The product won’t be exposed unless you press the cushion.

The cushion also creates a “dome” after removing the seal. The idea is that, it should make the usage easier and less messy since you won’t have to press your sponge so much since there’s already a protruding area. Which I thought was brilliant. Or at least it was in the beginning.

The thing is, since it creates a dome, the dome touches the cover of the cushion and much of the product sticks on the cover and it looks a lot messier this way as you can see in the photo.

This product has a floral-cosmeticish scent that is quite strong, although personally I don’t mind because I don’t find it offensive. The coverage of this product is alright; while it cannot cover imperfection or redness, it is still better than my Hera cushion in this department.

The finish appears satin to me, not dewy. I also feel that it was a little too wet on the face to be used alone. And this is when I started not liking it. I actually dig dewy finish and most days, I prefer not to seal cushion foundation with loose powder.

With Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion, however, I cannot do away without setting it with powder because I would look oily. I once went on without setting this with powder and my officemate told me “Did you leave the office? You look sweaty” so yes, not fresh at all. Imagine the horror in my face when I heard this comment because: No, girl, I didn’t leave the office. I’ve been sitting at your back since forever!

I also noticed that this cushion oxidizes on my face. I have never encountered any cushion in the past that has oxidized on me so I am quite disappointed. Had I known that I would encounter this issue, I would’ve gotten the lighter shade.

Cushion foundation, to me, looks best after hours of wearing it. I like it especially whenever I sweat (super odd, I know) but it I get the fresh vibe, I mean given the fact that I wipe my sweat of course. And it just never happens with this cushion. My face gets darker after sometime and I feel that it’s giving me oily effect instead of dewy.

Needless to say, Heimish Artless Perfecting Cushion didn’t work for me; primarily because it oxidizes. Maybe the lighter shade would work better on me. Maybe things would be better if I use a primer. But frankly, I don’t really want to know.

I’m sure there’s a lot worse cushion out in the market but this one is the worst for me. I won’t really recommend it to people but if you must know, I think this product would work best to people of dry skin.
