[Review] Sally’s Box Loverecipe Pomegranate Mask Sheet

Sally’s Box Loverecipe Pomegranate Mask Sheet Review:

Admittedly, I purchased this mask along with two other variants mostly due to the cute packaging when my local beauty store was having a promotion (3 masks for ~$2.30USD). As I’ve tried out the Broccoli (reviewed) variant previously, I was hoping that this would hopefully be a better fit for me – was it?

Claims:

  • Promotes firm and healthy skin, so recommended for those with lacklustre skin that has lost elasticity.
  • The naturally derived triple layered cellulose sheet mask material has been developed specifically to avoid skin irritation and adheres tightly to the contours of the face.

Sally’s Box Loverecipe Pomegranate Mask Sheet Review:

Housed in the usual of sheet mask packaging material, what makes it stand out is definitely the adorable caricature on the pretty packaging. Upon closer inspection and some quick “research”, the mascots are found to be from the animated cartoon series Pape Popo, which centres on a couple and their adventures and memories together. Pretty cute stuff, really.

What is not cute is the terribly cloying scent, ick. Unfortunately for my sensitive nose, it had to endure an onslaught of a mask drenched with essence reminiscent of fruit candy. Scent aside, the material of the mask is not too thin nor too thick, so that was fine.

Apparently it claims to be made of “triple layered cellulose”, which may be true, however it reminds me of any ol’ cotton sheet mask, to be honest. The fit was fine. As usual, it was a bit too short for my forehead and too wide at the chin area, but overall fit my facial contours well.

I had the mask on for about 22 minutes, with the recommended time being 10-20 minutes. During wear, the strong scent actually had me unconsciously clenching my jaw in stress and irritation. As the scent lingered throughout the whole 20+ minutes of masking, I would definitely recommend those who are prone to getting headaches due to strong scents like me to turn away and never look back. Otherwise, the mask felt nice and soothing.

After-effects of the mask were fine. The mask moisturised my face well without leaving any sticky residue, but I had some noticeable redness on my face pre-masking, and it did nothing to help that at all, unfortunately.

Squeezing the extra essence from the mask, I found the essence to be white in colour with a light, creamy, lotion texture. Patting it into my skin leaves it absorbing well with minimal stickiness.

I would rate this mask 1/5. Overall, the effects of the Loverecipe Pomegranate Mask was decent, but definitely not recommended for those sensitive to scents/fragrance. The headache incurred after my masking session was definitely not fun at all. However, YMMV, as always.
