[REVIEW] The Face Shop Marvel 2 in 1 Curling Mascara in shades Spider Man Blue and Black Widow

The Face Shop Marvel 2 in 1 Curling Mascara in shades Spider Man Blue and Black Widow Review:

Before I was able to control myself I had purchased these two mascaras (and those two eye shadows from last time) and I actually do not regret it. Because the mascaras I was using finished at the same time and although I can live without eye makeup in general, I need mascara. I have a few rebel eye lashes (you’ll see later) which poke my eye and need controlling.

This mascara is actually new regardless of the Marvel edition, the original edition came out around 1 month before the Marvel one so it’s no wonder I hadn’t heard of it before. Of course I was going to choose these ones based on the character and not on the color, but then by perfect coincidence the colors I wanted matched the characters I liked the most from this collection! I chose black (for obvious reasons) and blue because I felt adventurous. How blue is this blue?

Claims:

-The big brush is strong enough with one sole usage, and adding the slim brush on top gives it a perfect finish for curled, and long eyelashes.

-Gives a power curling from the base of the eye lashes. A 24h curl that is light weight.

-These brushes also can grab the eye lashes on the hidden zone! They are the ones closer to each end of the eye on the top eye lid, and the ones on the lower eyelid.

From the website:

-The innovative 2 in 1 brush provides 24h curl by defining each lash-even-hard-to-reach lashes.

-The roll of the big brush is designed to create a powerful curl. The soft fine slim brush is designed to curl each and every lash.

After removing the paper box where the characters are, other than a small detail that says Marvel in the bottom of the tube the only difference between the Marvel version and the original version (other than the availability of the Blue and Red colors of course) is this little textured detail that reminds me of a superhero suit texture. At least the most modern ones, no those old lycra suits!

These are the two brushes. I have had, in the past, a few brushes that were slim and a few that were big. The differences that I noticed through time are mainly that the slim brushes separated my eyelashes more whereas the big brushes made them longer. We’ll see here how they work together.

These are the two entrances for the brushes. I can say that after using this mascara for a while both of them have kept themselves quite clean. I don’t know what the package designers did but they did a good job.

The judgment time!

Because I have a few longer eyelashes, when I applied the big brush first and then the slim one they did indeed curl more (which in my case resulted in a few blue or black dots under my eyebrow), so I decided to change the order for normal usage. You should try both ways, and try the brushes individually, to see what works better for you.

So, analyzing the slim brush, you can see that it curled my eyelashes a lot (it actually added no length so that’s all curling) and separated them relatively well. I enjoy the curling ability a lot, but the separating ability is just average compared to others.

Then when I add the big brush you can see the eyelashes curled even more and lengthened a little. I let it dry and then reapplied the big brush on the parts where I have gaps, to make the eyelashes more balanced and that’s what I got.

In my opinion the blue color is very discreet, you can see “something” but it doesn’t scream blue, and I’ve worn this around friends and most of them didn’t even notice that it had color. It’s a dark blue so it is the same as applying a thin dark blue eyeliner. I’m guessing people with lighter eyelashes will have a slightly more screaming blue, but I’m still happy with this blue vibrancy.

You can see on the last photo the pairing with the black. The black here is really dark and actually enhances my eyes a lot, even though the length is the same. Being a really dark black I wouldn’t use this if I was blond (or had blond eyebrows) since I think it can be a little heavy, but then again it depends on the makeup you like to wear!

It’s self explanatory really. The blue looks more vibrant with natural light than with artificial light, but both of the very wearable.

The mascaras are not water proof, but they will not come out with rain or sweat as long as you don’t scrub your eyes. So, whereas they are not water proof they are still resistant to water. They also last the whole day without having any fall off under my eyes.

I am very pleased with these mascaras, and I absolutely love the blue color! The only down side is that it doesn’t really separate the eyelashes too well, but we have to consider that most Koreans don’t want to separate their eyelashes because “short” eyelashes look thicker when they are lumped together – and this product was released mainly for the Korean market.
