[Review] The Face Shop x Trolls Pastel Cushion Blusher Shimmer Cupcake Highlighter (06)

The Face Shop x Trolls Pastel Cushion Blusher Shimmer Cupcake Highlighter (06) Review:

One of the many great perks you get from using Asian cosmetics, is collaborations between brands and movies, shows or comics that are hot at the moment!! This particular collaboration between The Face Shop and Disney’s Trolls movie, contains only makeup products(unlike the Simpsons one for example where it was  only skincare and mostly sun protection).

I’ve been looking for a light highlighter, that wouldn’t make my face look like a moving lightbulb but that would make my skin look more dewy and healthy-ish and previously, I had tried the face shop’s cushion blusher which is made with the same formula and liked it a lot so I thought, why not give this one a try?

Claims:

According to The Face Shop, this can make your skin have a soft-looking appearance and it has  effects similar to those of cushion applicators. It also has a pleasant floral smell.

Volume: 5g

I’m still pretty much a rookie at makeup so I regretted buying this as soon as I paid for it. “Why didn’t I buy the blusher instead“, I thought to myself. This is where the face shop showed how capable they are at making good products.

When this arrived at my mail box I expected to only like the packaging (which clearly is hella cute, you can’t really go wrong with Disney designs and the little details at the top are lovely).

I still tried this product by swatching it on my hand. It was faint but noticeable, like my skin was glowing. “Not so bad“, I thought.

The next day I was doing my makeup and I thought I should use this highlighter too. I always go for a natural, peachy kind of look so I was worried that this will make my face scream “hey look how much makeup I’m wearing!!“, I was absolutely wrong.

Not only did this make my face look more natural, but it helped at setting my makeup base WITHOUT causing any cakeiness. And all that, by the hands of an absolute rookie, this product is incredibly easy to use without ruining your makeup.

Ever since then, I use this every time I put makeup on and sometimes even when I just wear sunscreen! Even though it’s faint and natural, it’s relatively long-lasting. I’d say it lasts for a good 3 to 4 hours, without using setting spray of course. If you use setting spray with this, how long it’ll last only depends on your spray.

My only problem with this product is the cushion. It’s the classic cushion that multiple brands use for their blushers but in this highlighter’s case, it does nothing.

No matter how much you rub it in the case, when you use it on your face, you get no results. That’s a shame because it’s seriously, soooo cute! The effect is great however if you use a fan or a kabuki brush.

Other than the decorations on it,  the packaging is also so-so. It feels strong but to take the lid off, you simply have to pull. After a few uses, since the package is made of paper,it becomes very weak and it may open on its own which is very unhygienic and can infect the product and then cause acne, yikes!!

Overall, this is an ok product. It does what it claims to and does it great for its price range. I would recommend it to anyone going for the dewy, healthy skin look.

I’d suggest you shouldn’t try it if you’re looking for a strong highlighter that will give you THAT glow and if you have acne in the Apple zone, since a highlighter can just make your acne more noticeable if applied incorrectly.
