[Review] TONYMOLY Face Mix Primer Color Cushion 01 Lavender

TONYMOLY Face Mix Primer Color Cushion 01 Lavender Review:

Some people might have a problem on having their make-up melts before they arrive to their destination. That is why we need something to ‘lock’ our make-up and that is the reason why primer exist! Nowadays, there are so many types of primer that people can use to fit their needs. Apparently, TONYMOLY joined the bandwagon of color cushion primer trend this year and added a primer cushion collection to their FaceMix line. Same with the previous posts, I got this from Althea’s box last April and I found this product very interesting.

I never used a Tony Moly base make-up before and only know about their Delight tint and sheet masks, so I feel eager to use this when this product came in the box. I started using this daily for almost 3 weeks under my BB cream. So let’s go jump to the review!

As color correction becomes a trend lately, TonyMoly released this cushion primer at the first quarter of 2017 with three different colors; Lavender, Mint and Peach Pink which functioned differently. The lavender shades is for people who has dull and uneven skin tone. This color usually used around the smile line and under the eyes (to hide eye bags) or any other area on the face.

The packaging is exactly the same with usual BB Cushion but I might say that it is smaller and way handier than other cushion cases, especially for people with small palms like me. The design is also simple yet it gives the cute vibe as the color of the cushion is the same with the shade.

The puff surface is very soft, which might be good to give off an airbrush finish but I should say that the puff is hard and not elastic at all, compared to the puff on BB cushions that I have tried so far such as Etude House, Peripera and A’Pieu.

There is one downside in term of packaging, the inner lid is very hard to open. I need extra energy to open the lid every time I use it. I am not sure if it supposed to be a good thing as it will never let the liquid inside the cushion leaked, but I never experience a hard time in opening a cushion’s lid. When the first time I opened it, I was very afraid to break the lid.

The cushion itself contains a lot of product and just a small pump using my finger on the cushion will give me a lot of product. The consistency is pretty liquidy but a bit hard to blend especially using the puff (probably because the puff inelasticity). I could not smell a strong scent from this cushion, it is almost scentless to be honest.

On the picture above, I take some appropriate amount of the product and pat it the back of my palm. The one on the left was patted using the puff and it gave off a slight glow meanwhile the one on the right part was applied using my finger.

When I patted the products on my face using the puff, it indeed gives some glow to my skin but to make sure it does not making my face more oily, I need to put on loose powder on top of the foundation or BB.

For the performance itself, this primer does it jobs to brightening the dull area but since my skin is on the dark side and not pale at all, it gives me a bit of white cast. It is seriously not a perfect match for a greyish BB Cream since it will gives a somehow spooky white look and makes me appear like a ghost, especially for people with warm skin tone.

But then, I usually use this primer when I am using a yellowish BB Cushion as it will match better and makes the BB stays longer on my face. I am also not really sure about the SPF since I never feel safe if I only use this primer without sunscreen.

After all, I think this color cushion primer is a so-so product. It lives up to its claim but then I need to be very careful when applying this on my face to make it looks as natural as possible. If I put on too much, it makes my oily face look even more oily and if I put a little, it does not show any difference at all.

At least this primer does not cause any breakouts. I do not really recommend this to people with oily skin. Hence, the glow will give an amazing result if it applied on people with dry skin.
