2019 S/S New Peripera Ink Airy Velvet 02 Selfie Orange Brown Review:
It’s been awhile since Peripera released their Ink The Lacquer Tint and now finally they are back with the latest release, the New Ink Airy Velvet Tint! I’m sure you have heard about the Ink Airy Velvet because that tint was so popular, both in Korea and internationally. Peripera even made several series with the tint and I tried some of them already but sadly I have to say that it wasn’t my favorite lip tint.
I’m very excited when I saw that Peripera finally opened their official store on my favorite marketplace and they sell the tint with an affordable price! Not only this tint, they also came with a new Airy Ink Velvet Stick so of course I have to get both of them to try.
This time, they re-released the tint with brand new appearance and if I’m not mistaken, I think they re-formulated it as well. I have to say the packaging itself makes me buy the tint but the shades range also totally my style. They consists of 5 beautiful shades and most of them are wearable for daily activities. If you are a fan of soft and natural tint color, then you will love the shade range.

2019 S/S New Peripera Ink Airy Velvet 02 Selfie Orange Brown Review:
I’m pleasantly surprised to see Peripera finally change the overall concept for the Ink Airy Velvet. Usually they won’t change the packaging at all but this time they change not only the packaging, but the concept as well. The new one has chic concept with retro vibe and for me, the bottle shaped like a baby bottle. I think the new bottle looks better than the old one, it looks more modern and eye-catching.
For its applicator, it’s totally the same with the old Airy Ink Velvet. It has a slanted shape and it distributes the tint very well on the lips. Just like the older one as well, it has a good pigmentation and I find it’s a little bit easier to blend to make a gradient lips.
The texture is like mousse and thick with a little bit of slippery feeling to it but feels lightweight on the lips. It doesn’t emphasis my dry patches but because of the thick texture, you may find it can look too thick, especially on people with thin and small lips.
One thing I don’t like from the start is how this tint has a strong scent. It has a really strong floral fragrance which I don’t like. I’d be okay if it has a sweeter fresh scent so if you dislike scented lip product, then you will find this tint won’t suit your taste.
From those 5 shades, I got shade 02 Selfie Orange Brown, If you ever read my reviews before, then you must’ve known that I’m a sucker for orange/brown lip color. Actually I want to get shade 03 but I think it would be too pale for me but most of the time, the official swatch picture on Peripera’s website is different with the shade in real life so I suggest you to search reviews about the tint to see the actual color before purchasing it.
Peripera describes 02 Selfie Orange Brown as an orange brown shade which is perfect for MLBB (My Lips But Better) effect and this time I agree with their description. On me, it looks like a warm orange shade with a bit of brown undertone and I think it’s really pretty and wearable even for school or work as long you apply it thinly.
In my opinion, this shade matches my skin tone really well and it will be a perfect shade to choose if you want to create a warm makeup look. I pair this tint with a neutral-toned eye makeup and it looks so stunning!
This shade will suit every skin tone, from fair to deep but I think people with cool undertone may want to try another shade since it may look too warm for them. If you have a medium skin tone I’m sure it will look so pretty on you, and it will be a perfect n*de if you have deeper skin tone. I feel this shade is very universal so if you want to choose a ‘safe’ shade from the shade range, 02 Selfie Orange Brown will be the perfect one.
When I swatched the shade for the first time, the shade reminds me of Peripera’s Ink the Velvet, the F/W edition one in shade 17 Hip Beige Pink. It looks similar so I grab mine and swatched it side by side to compare if they are truly similar or have some differences. I also swatched the original Ink Airy Velvet to see if they have difference in texture or finish.
If you see the swatch picture, it’s very obvious that the new Ink Airy Velvet and Ink the Velvet shade looks very similar. The difference is Ink the Velvet has more warm tone in it and on the lips, it looks more beige while the new Ink Airy Velvet has more orange tone and on the lips it looks like a warm orange shade.
The difference between the new and older Ink Airy Velvet is how they feel on the lips. From the swatch alone you can see that they both still have same finish and texture but when I try it on my lips, the newer one is a bit smoother and easier to blend.
Even though it’s a velvet finish tint, when I apply it it will look creamy and you’ll see sheen effect but after I let it set for a few minutes, the finish will turn into a velvet finish. It’s not transfer-proof though, in fact it’s transfer easily everywhere. It also doesn’t sink into my dry parts. The best part is, it doesn’t make my lips dry unlike the older release and it lasts longer too! It lasts for 5 to 6 hours and it is easy to re-apply as well.
I think Peripera did a really good job in re-formulating their best selling Ink Airy Velvet because honestly I think it performs better than before and last longer on the lips too. If you’re not a fan of the older one, I’m sure you will love this one (just like I do) but if you love the original Ink Airy Velvet already, I don’t know if these changes will make you happy or not since the formula is different.
Will I repurchase it? If I have a left-over budget, maybe I’ll get another shade to try. I kinda curious if every shades perform like this or not but I definitely will recommend this tint! I’m sure I will keep using it especially if I want to have a warm makeup look.
