[Review] 3CE StyleNanda Fitting Cushion Foundation SPF50+ PA+++ | 002 Natural Coverage

3CE StyleNanda Fitting Cushion Foundation SPF50+ PA+++ Review:

As of now (July 2017), the Fitting Cushion Foundation is one of the 3 cushions available from 3CE. For those who don’t know, 3CE is the makeup brand under StyleNanda, a South Korean clothing company. They’re known for their whimsical packaging and clothing. All of their cushions come in 2 shades. #001 and #002. Mine is in #002. They currently have a Barbapapa special packaging that is pink and pretty but I opted for the original packaging for its simple design. While they are based in Korea, people can get their hands on it through branches in Asia or through their official online shop, so it is easily accessible.

Claims (from Stylenanda Website):

Like most Korean cushions, the main points are whitening, anti wrinkles and sun protection.

The cushion claims to give you a “flawless complexion filled with moisture”

Volume:  Case with a refill inside + refill (12g x 2)

How to use:

Peel off the sticker and gently press onto the cushion using the puff it comes with. I believe that using the puff that comes with cushions is half of what makes the cushion so I always recommend using an air puff to put on your cushion. Of course, you can use things like the Beauty Blender or a foundation brush if you’d like.

My Skin type: Combo/dry, oily in some places, acne prone, light-medium skin tone

3CE StyleNanda Fitting Cushion Foundation SPF50+ PA+++ Review:

I use this cushion in the shade #002, it is also their darker shade. Usually Korean face makeup will come in 2 colors, labelled as #1 and #2 or #21 and #23. In this case the #2 is a very good match for my NC25 skin colour. It has a yellow undertone that’s perfect for Asian skin tones like mine. It’s yellow enough to not look ashy on me but doesn’t go overboard and make me look sallow. I’m in the shade Custard in the Nars creamy concealer and the B20 in Chanel face makeup for reference.

The foundation has linen/baby powder scent that isn’t overpowering and doesn’t linger. The foundation is a thick cream. The coverage I would say is medium to full. It perfectly covers my redness but when it comes to acne scars or acne, we know that to perfectly cover up a pimple concealer is a must. If it’s a fading scar, dabbing a little more product and gently tapping will cover it up nicely.

It has a dewy finish that wakes up my face. I personally like the glow, but if you’re into matte foundations I would use some mattifying powder or skip this cushion as it only controls oil somewhat. I find myself needing to blot around the 4/5 hour mark so I don’t look too. I’m a cushion junkie, but I find myself often reaching for this one. The coverage is good and it doesn’t make me look like an oily mess. The color fits my skin colour very well.

The cushion claims to whiten your skin because they have included niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, as an ingredient. It has been shown to brighten skin, stimulate collagen production, and has anti-inflammatory properties- hence the anti-wrinkles claim. Adenosine is added as well presumably to be another anti-aging ingredient, but it’s in such a small amount I’m not sure it’ll do much.

The sun protection claim obviously is from the SPF 50 PA+++ rating. Sun damage is one of the biggest culprits for aging, so if you protect yourself from the skin, the SPF will be another way to avoid wrinkles, whiten your skin (as in get rid of uneven skin tone or help lessen any hyperpigmentation spots over time).

Because the product is exposed to light and air every time you use it, I wouldn’t expect the skincare claims in this cushion to be as beneficial as a proper skincare product. That being said, it’s always better to have more skincare benefits than to have none. I wouldn’t rely on this cushion alone for sun protection either. I really doubt you will wear enough product for the SPF 50 PA+++ to fully protect you. A sunscreen underneath is always recommended.

The cushion is not the cheapest cushion, but it isn’t the most expensive either. I love the formula because it gives a hydrating healthy glow to my dehydrated skin that I can easily change to a semi matte with a little setting powder. For those with oilier skin, if you want to keep the glow you can touch up with a powder when it gets too greasy throughout the day.

I would recommend this cushion to those who want a medium to full coverage dewy cushion that lasts a good 8-10 hours. However, please keep in mind that while my skin does produce oil I am on the dryer side, so the wear tie varies across skin types. Unfortunately, the almost non-existent shade range limits those who can use this product. If you’re lighter or at a NC30, you can still get away with wearing #002, but if you are darker I would look at other options.
