Finally summer is here and 3 Concept Eyes is the next brand in line that release a full collection for summer makeup. Actually they have the products on their website but I never noticed that they are for the summer collection and I thought it just a new launch from them.
Summer collection is one of my favorite launch because they usually are oily-skin friendly and last forever on the skin, even some come with waterproof formula which makes them twice better than the usual collection.
As one of the most up-to-date brands, 3CE launch their own summer collection called ‘Take A Layer’ and I believe it means we can layer the products to build pigmentation but still get a natural look and without getting cakey.
‘Take A Layer’ collection consists of water tints, multi pots, and set of nail polishes. It’s not a lot of products, I know, but the whole collection has a very summery vibe and look so much fun to try. I’m very excited that I was given a chance to try the water tint as the tint is my favorite product from the collection.

3CE Take a Layer Tinted Water Tint Most Orange Review:
I didn’t expected to see 3CE finally making a totally different packaging from what they used to. Usually they have packaging in black, pastel, or bold colors but this time they put an actual picture for the tint bottle. I’m guessing maybe that’s one of their models picture but I really like it! It’s unique and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this from other brands before.
The outer box comes with a hologram sticker, as usual from 3CE to prove that it’s an authentic product. These days there are more and more fake 3CE products so be careful and always check for the hologram sticker. I hope 3CE will do something to remove those fake products on the market as it’s really dangerous for the skin.
The bottle comes with a gold lid and it makes the overall appearance looks so luxurious but the price is not that affordable so it’s just right to get a good packaging. It also feel heavier compared to other lip tints from Etude House or The Face Shop as they use a really good, sturdy plastic material.
The applicator is a doe-foot applicator with a flat shape on both side and I don’t know if this type of shape is in trend right now but so far I’ve seen some lip products with this kind of applicator and of them is the Missha Wish Stone Tint Water Gel. The shape helps in spreading the color evenly but it’s too wide to reach the corner part of my lips so I have to be extra careful.
This tint has a nice scent, almost like powder scent but it’s not strong at all. I can’t smell the scent at all unless I put the wand applicator right in front of my nose. Aside from the scent, it has a really watery formula! I think this tint is the most watery out of other water tints I’ve tried before.
Because of the watery formula, it is so lightweight and feels like I apply nothing on my lips. It absorbs immediately after I apply it and the color will stay there and leaving a true orange stain after it fade after an hour or two.
But because it’s so watery, it can make a mess everywhere, especially if you tilt the bottle when it’s opened. The tint will flow out from the bottle just like a water so you have to be careful and make sure you close the lid properly or it will seep out of the bottle. I will suggest you to put the bottle on a nearby surface (table or a counter) so you won’t tilt it accidentally like I did.
This tint is available in 5 color options. It has a basic shade selection like a reds, orange, and pinks but all of them is perfect for summer! They are so pretty but to be honest the only shade that catch my attention is shade called Most Orange.
It’s a vibrant orange shade and it’s more on the neon side. It can brighten your overall complexion and I’m pretty sure all skin tone can wear it as the shade is not too light and not too dark. If only my country has summer, I would wear this type of shade everyday as it’s really match summer vibe (but sadly my country only has rainy and sunny season).
It has a glossy finish when you first apply it but the glossiness is easy to remove. Without eat or drink anything, it lasts for one to two hours but if you dab your lips with a tissue, it can remove the glossiness right away. No worries though, because it will leave you with a beautiful orange stain that will last you all day! On me, the stain lasts for about 5 hours then it will start to get patchy.
Even though it sets fast, it’s still easy to blend and I’d recommend to blend it with your finger. The warmth from your finger helps blending the tint easier and it’s really easy to make a gradient lips. With a watery tint, it’s way easier to make a gradient lips than a full lips since it can look uneven.
I do have slightly dry lips and this tint accentuates my dry parts a little bit so I always prepare my lips using a lip balm. Lip balm is great for moisturizing our lips because it has oil in it but as you know, oil and water doesn’t mix well together. If you apply it when your lips still feel oily, it will make your lips look weird and the tint won’t absorb to your lips. It will feel slippery and won’t last long.
My tip is to use a lip balm, wait for a few minutes (the longer the better. Usually I wear my lip balm right before I start my makeup) then dab the excess oil using a dry tissue. That way your lips will still feel moisturized while the oiliness is gone. This trick help so much when I want to apply a watery or matte lip product.
It feels comfortable on my lips but on the first few minutes it’s easy to transfer everywhere (because of the glossiness) so I have to keep my lips shut to prevent the tint going anywhere. One time after I applied the tint I was talking on the phone and when I check my makeup, I saw orange tint on my teeth. It’s embarrassing and I was lucky I wasn’t in public at that time so since then I always either dab the gloss or keep my lips shut.
The stain lasts very long on the lips but is it waterproof? No, it’s not. It’s not easily removed with water but once I tried to remove it with a cleansing water, it removes the stain almost completely. I’m using my holy grail Bioderma Cleansing Water which is my favorite for years but if you have cleansing oil, it will work better and more effective in removing the stain.
So is it worth the price? I would say if you love water tint and vibrant shade, then it’s totally worth the price! Water tints are not my favorite but this tint here performs really good on me. I also really love the shade and the packaging so it’s a bonus point from me. The only bad thing is it can make a mess if I don’t close the lid tightly but it’s expected from a water tint so I don’t really mind it.
