A’PIEU Fresh Mate Papaya Wash Off Peeling Mask Review:
Wait, is it a wash off mask or a peeling mask?? It’s a peeling mask that you wash off! What first attracted me to it is that it peels (mainly) with small gel balls, and that means there is a limit to how aggressive it can be on a sensitive skin, unless the product has aggressive ingredients (of course) – which didn’t seem to be the case when I first tried it at the store! So, for this nice little price, I decided to give it a try.
We all should do some sort of peeling (exfoliation) at least once a week, to remove the dead skin cells. But the problem is that by doing peelings our skin become more sensitive, and that’s really bad for sensitive skins. Can this product be what we need to keep our skin routines up?
Gel Type formulation gives a mild peeling, brightening care, and keratin care. Nature-derived ingredients papaya fruit extract and apricot seed powder give a smooth care.
It’s a textured gel peeling mask to help brighten and exfoliate, removing dirt, dead skin, and other debris to smoothen your skin.
Main: Papaya fruit extract 1500mg, Apricot seed powder, Brightening A complex
Water, Glycerin, Glycereth-20, Butylene Glycol, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract, Alcohol, PEG/PPG-17/6 copolymer, Betaine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Actinidia Chinensis Fruit Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Ananas Sativus Fruit Extract, Mangifera Indica Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia Fruit Extract, Litchi Chinensis Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract, Prunus Armeniaca Seed Powder, Acrylates/ C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Sodium Polyacrylate, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragance
How to use:
- Wash your skin and dry it gently. (I emphasize the gently part especially for sensitive skins, because you’re going to exfoliate your skin)
- Then, massage a sufficient amount of product onto your face, for 2 to 3 minutes, in a circular motion.
- Afterwards, let the product rest on your skin from 5 to 10 minutes.
- Once the time is up, wash it off with lukewarm water. (Sensitive skins be extra careful, the water can never be too hot, especially after exfoliation!)
My Skin Type: Oily T, dry U, blemished, sensitive, and allergic.
A’PIEU Fresh Mate Papaya Wash Off Peeling Mask Review:
I have been using this product for a while (once a week, the package is now halfway done), and I realized the mask is supposed to have two completely different utilities. One is the exfoliating one, which since it’s a very gentle peel off mask took me a couple of months to realize if it has any effect or not – this is the peeling mask part in the title.
The other one is a hydration utility – which is the wash off mask part. I know, “it’s written in the title, how did you not realize it until now??” – well, because I thought until recently that the peeling part wasn’t working! Until I tried a three step black pore removing mask.
Before I used this wash off peeling mask, each time I used a 3 step black pore removing mask it used to remove the top layer of my skin. But when my pores got really bad I had to use them regardless. I didn’t use a 3 step peel off mask since mid-autumn (around last november), and it was the usual deal.
Recently I used the same 3 step peel off mask I always used and there was no skin attached to it! The reason for that is because this A’PIEU Fresh Mate Papaya Wash Off Peeling Mask has been gently removing my dead skin layers! And it’s so gentle I didn’t even realize it. Yes, it takes some time, but at least now sensitive skins can also use peeling masks without worried.
So, let’s start!
The squeezing hole is plenty normal. But because of the gel formula, the hole has been keeping itself clean without me having to do anything. I literally never had to clean it, not once.
The gel itself has this lumpy look. The gel particles massage and gently remove the top layer of dead skin cells. And it has a little, just a small little amount of powder-like particles to help the exfoliating part.
The smell is gentle so it shouldn’t bother anyone, and it smells like papaya flavoring (the ones you would add on cake or candy). Because it’s so gentle and nice (even though it’s sweet) it’s a smell I came to identify with that step of my routine rather than papaya flavoring!
During usage, the mask should be like this. When you leave it on your face it should look like you have nothing on it, except for some random lumps on your skin. I once had a neighbor gave me a package (went to her house by mistake) while I had the mask on. Her reaction was “Oh, you have something on your nose” – it was just the mask.
This is before and after using the mask. You can see some skin texture change, very slight, because as I said the mask works slowly over time.
The after photo though, shows that after the mask my skin is hydrated, clean, fresh and not dry at all! After the mask all you have to do is your normal skin care. And it doesn’t burn afterwards, which is nice.
In the end, will I buy A’PIEU Fresh Mate Papaya Wash Off Peeling Mask again? First I want to try all masks from this collection! Because this one surprised me so much. But afterwards, then definitely!
