So, summer is here and all brands are doing stuff that’s too tempting for most of us. Whereas the season for most of the new products is over, all brands steadily release new products during the summer time. Etude House released the ice cream shaped lip tint (reviewed), and in this case A’pieu released this ice cream shaped mask sheet! Coincidence? Most likely…
This mask comes in four different flavors: melon, watermelon, pineapple, and mandarin orange (actually hallabong – a sweeter Japanese genetically modified strand of mandarin orange) if I’m not mistaken. Well, both in Korea as in Portugal summer means watermelon! So of course I got that one! Also, it’s one of the prettiest packages, because it has a higher color contrast. I promise if you read the claims of this mask you’ll at least be a little surprised, considering the price of this product!
Clean deep ocean water gives tired skin high hydration and vitality, and a transparent and soft tencel sheet that is used to deliver the ingredients more effectively.
Watermelon gives dry and damaged skin the care, softness and moisture it needs.
Purified Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Betain, Seawater, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, Watermelon Extract, Pomegranate Extract, Lotus Extract, Red Ginseng Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Extract, Bamboo Extract, Coix Extract, Cucumber Extract, Green Tea Extract, Allantoin, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Dimethicone, Arginine, C12-14 Pares-12, Hydroxyethanol, Carbomer, Caprylic Glycol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Disodium Edta, Fragrance

How to use:
Refine the skin with a toner. Then pull the mask sheet out of the pouch and unfold it carefully since it’s very thin. Apply it on your face, matching the eyes, nose, and lips perfectly. Wait for 10 to 20 minutes, then remove the mask and pat the remaining essence until it absorbs into the skin.
My Skin Type: Oily T, dry U, sensitive, blemishes easily, and allergic. Dry, sensitive and allergic lips. Very thin, dehydrated and oily eyelids.
A’pieu Icing Sweet Bar Sheet Mask Watermelon Review:
The package opens quite easily and without any struggle at all, and that’s always worth mentioning!
As soon as you take a peek inside the mask pouch you can see a lot of the essence floating around. At this point too you can feel the scent of it. It’s sweet, it’s watermelon-y and it smells exactly like those watermelon gummies covered in sour sugar.
Or, according to my Russian friend, it smells of a 90s bubble gum in Russia called Turbo, that had car stickers. It also smells a little similar to the melon bubble gum from Vidal and Haribo with sour sugar inside.
The mask is soaked but not dripping.
Once I opened it however, the liquid started sliding down my arms, as if the mask was crying on me (don’t cry!!)!
Also I apologize for the blurriness, I didn’t notice it when I took the photo.
The first feeling once I put the mask on is worth mentioning at this point! First of all, it was really cold for a few seconds. So cold I actually got surprised, and no I didn’t have the mask in the fridge before! And it feels extremely moisturizing from the start. And hydrating. Both at the same time.
The fit as you can see is really good. Except on the eyes and nose area – which is a little under a perfect fit, but it adheres really well and it still adheres to most of my face. So I consider it a good fit.
Also important to mention, the mask was dripping during most of the time on which I had it on! So, lie down and let it drip onto your neck and chest, there will be no waste then.
Also, it continues being fresh all the while, and I was feeling quite hot before this mask and now feel really comfortable. I guess this is what icing is all about! And I don’t know how they do that, because the mask is really thin, so thin it gently slides down my face (and I had to pull it back up).
As you can see, the essence is really liquid and watery, and it spreads really well and easily. Think of it as… dense water, if there’s such a thing. It absorbed quickly and there was no sticky feeling at all left on my arm. But we’ll see this properly later, after the time is up.
By the end of the time limit I must say the mask was drier but it wasn’t actually dry in any part! Which is… rare on my face. I wonder if my face eats the moisture, I don’t know… but anyway, this mask wasn’t dry! And the remaining essence felt as light as a mist. Actually, my skin feels that relief you feel after being in the sun and spraying a fresh mist full of nutrients! But a little longer and more permanent?
I was right in waiting to confirm it because it does feel a little tiny bit sticky for a short while while it’s absorbing into the skin.
You can see here how the “mist” feeling looks like. My skin is hydrated and moist enough for a combination and oily skin. I believe for dry skins this type of moisture isn’t much, but it’s definitely good for other skin types. If your skin is sensitive check the ingredients because it doesn’t seem like it would harm extremely sensitive skins, I didn’t feel anything bad at all so~
Also, here’s a little extra. This is what Koreans mean when they say “yoongi”.
