[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Moonshot Micro Settingfit Cushion 201 Beige

Moonshot Micro Settingfit Cushion 201 Beige Review

Moonshot Micro Settingfit Cushion 201 Beige Review:

When I went to Seoul last 2017, I was not as hooked on K-beauty as I am right now. I wasn’t familiar with must-try products except for those offered by road shop brands available in the Philippines like Etude House, Tony Moly, etc. Needless to say, I was really fascinated to see women of different ages (from teens waiting in line for a ride in Everland, ladies on their commute to work, and even grandmothers on the train towards hiking destinations) applying cushion. This made me want to get my hands on this magical compact which seems to be the secret behind the coveted Korean porcelain skin.

The first ever cushion I bought was from Laneige but found it too heavy and dewy for my liking (not at all suitable for the hot and humid weather we have). I ended up just using that one a few times and giving away the refill it came with. This bad experience didn’t discourage me to avoid cushions all together though.

On the contrary, it actually made me want to try out more brands to look for my perfect match. It was last year when an online shopping site had their crazy sale on Moonshot products. All their cushions were sold for only $9.99 which I thought was such a bargain so I grabbed that opportunity to get myself one.

Reading the description of the different kinds of cushions available from the brand, I decided that this Micro Settingfit one is the most ideal for my oily skin since it claims to have a matte finish which my oily skin can benefit from. It didn’t have a refill (unlike their Balm type cushion) which was quite a bummer but I still decided to purchase this one.

By the way, Moonshot is a very new brand for me. The only information I know about it is that it has affiliations with the entertainment company YG. I’m not really a K-pop fan anymore but I believe Black Pink is their current endorser. Who wouldn’t want to achieve Lisa’s perfect skin right?

Anyway, I’ve been using this cushion for months now and I’d like to share my experience and opinions about it. If you’re curious to know if I’ve finally found my perfect cushion, please read until the end. For now, here are some details about the product:

[REVIEW] Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream

Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream Review

Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream Review:

Have you ever used a product for the first time and thought, “Yup, this is the one.”? As a beauty enthusiast, I always want to try new things so I don’t typically stick to using the same products over and over again (even if they worked well for my skin). And it doesn’t help that there is seemingly an infinite number of newer and better products to try out there.

But once in a while, you fall in love with a product so much that the fear of missing out on newer products suddenly disappears. That’s what I happened when I first used this Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate.

Why? I’ll tell you the reasons in a bit but for now let’s learn more about the brand and some details about the product.
I’ve been seeing products from Illiyoon every now and again but they didn’t really catch my attention enough to buy them. Perhaps that can be attributed to their boring packaging (there are just so many adorable or chic looking products out there!).

Anyway, it was when I saw Kelly Driscoll’s youtube videos where she discussed how much she loves this cream that I decided to try it out for myself. Fortunately, I saw a smaller size on sale in shopee. I got mine for only $2 for a 70ml tube which is such a steal!

According to what I’ve read, Illiyoon is a part of Amore Pacific which is one of the biggest beauty companies in Korea (also owns Mamonde, Laneige, Innisfree, etc). The brand aims to deliver gentle but deeply nourishing products perfect for those which sensitive skin types. In fact, their products can also be used for babies. Since I have a one year old baby, this is a plus point for me.

[REVIEW+SWATCHES] The Saem Mousse Candy Tint 6 Chai Tea

The Saem Mousse Candy Tint 6 Chai Tea Review

The Saem Mousse Candy Tint 6 Chai Tea Review:

Raise your hand if you’re a sucker for cute packaging! If you just did, then Korean lip tints are probably your biggest weakness (like me!). One of the cutest in my collection is definitely this The Saem Mousse Candy Tint (Disney edition). The original packaging is already cute but this one with Minnie Mouse on front is just extra adorable. Of course, cute packaging is nice and all but what we’re actually after is great quality right? Luckily, in this case, you can have both.

I first encountered this lip tint while browsing through Shopee but felt wary because there seems to be a lot of shops that sell fake versions of this. Nonetheless, my desire to try out this cutie didn’t stop me from buying it. I found a shop that sells an authentic one for a reasonable price (in my case it was around $5).

There are 10 shades to choose from: 01 Redmango, 02 Strawberry, 03 Carrot, 04 Grapefruit, 05 Yogurtberry, 06 Chai Tea, 07 Dark Cherry, 08 Apricot, 09 Peanut, and 10 Strawberry Cheese. The names of the shades are actually good descriptions of the colors they represent. I chose 06 Chai Tea, which is a darker rose shade, because it’s a color that I still didn’t have in my collection.

[REVIEW] Blithe Patting Splash Mask Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey

Blithe Patting Splash Mask Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey Review

Blithe Patting Splash Mask Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey Review:

If I could associate a single word to Blithe Cosmetics, it would be INNOVATION. This brand does not carry the typical skin care products most people are familiar with. In fact, when I first encountered the brand and their products, I was utterly clueless. Blithe is a brand that caters to people living a busy lifestyle in an urban setting. Hence, most of their products aim to address skin concerns brought about by pollution, such as fine dust, in a manner that is both efficient and enjoyable.

Honestly speaking, I haven’t tried a lot of their products because they are a bit on the pricier spectrum. The one and only product I have from them is the one I’m reviewing today – the Blithe Patting Splash Mask in the variant Energy Yellow Citrus and Honey. I got this patting mask as a part of a curated box from an Asian Beauty website which is basically a set of products from different brands sold at a much cheaper price than their retail value.

It actually took months before I opened this up because, as I’ve mentioned earlier, I was clueless as to what it is and what it does. After doing a bit of research and finding out what an amazing product this actually is, I immediately dived in for a splash (get it?) and never looked back.

I’m already halfway into using up this bottle so I think I can now share my honest opinion on this.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Green Tea Lip Sleeping Mask

Innisfree Green Tea Lip Sleeping Mask Review

Innisfree Green Tea Lip Sleeping Mask Review:

Sheet mask, foot mask, hair mask, hand mask…in the world of k-beauty, there is literally a mask for every body part! But for this review, I’ll be writing about the lip sleeping mask, in particular, the Innisfree Lip Sleeping Mask with Green Tea (the other variant they have is Canola Oil Lip Sleeping Mask).

So what exactly is a lip sleeping mask? To me, it’s a thicker version of a lip balm that you apply before going to bed and wipe off the next morning which would leave you with super moisturized soft luscious lips. This product wasn’t a part of my routine up until a year ago when I first tried the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (probably considered as a Holy Grail product for most people). As someone with flaky dry lips who adores wearing lip tints daily, a lip sleeping mask has been a total game changer for me.

After I finished the sample size I have of the Laneige one, I contemplated if I’ll be willing to splurge on the full size. In the end, I decided to hunt for a cheaper alternative instead. After all, I’m someone who thrives on finding dupes for expensive products. Innisfree is a brand I’ve always trusted when it comes to skin care. I’m a fan of their Green Tea Seed line so when they launched a lip sleeping mask in the green tea variant, I decided to take my chances. I bought mine for 580php (~$11) which is still quite expensive for a lip product in my opinion.

This lip sleeping mask has been my go-to lip sleeping mask ever since I got it a few months ago and I must say, I’m pretty pleased with my purchase. Why? I’ll tell you in a bit, but before that, here are some details you might want to know about the product.

[REVIEW] iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil Review

iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil Review:

If you are into k-beauty, then you might be familiar with double cleansing. This two-step cleansing technique consists of using an oil-based cleanser to get rid of dirt, makeup, and sunscreen residue before using a water-based cleanser. For someone who only wears light makeup (or no makeup at all) daily, I didn’t think I needed to do both to fully clean my face. Boy was I wrong! Ever since I added an oil-based cleanser as the first step in my skincare routine, I noticed a huge improvement. Particularly, I saw a decrease in the number of blackheads and whiteheads on my nose.

Once I realized the importance of double cleansing, I made it a goal to find the perfect oil-based cleanser for me. Most k-beauty enthusiasts prefer to use cleansing balms such as the Banila Co. Clean It Zero or the Heimish All Clean Balm. I’ve tried samples of both and I found them effective but also inconvenient. To me, the idea of using a product which comes in a tub (with a lid that you’d have to twist open and a spatula to scoop out the product), is just too bothersome so I decided to get an oil cleanser in liquid form instead.

The brand iUNIK was fairly new to me when I got this product. I had read great reviews about the brand from a lot of Instagram influencers so I got intrigued. So when a Shopee store carrying iUNIK products went on a 50% off sale for Black Friday last year, I immediately got it. If I remember correctly, I scored this for only $12 which is a decent price for a cleansing oil.

I’ve been using this product for about three months now so I think my opinion about this is now pretty solid. You what that means right? It’s time for a review! But before that, here are some things you might want to know…

[REVIEW] Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun

Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun Review

Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun Review:

Purito is a brand that I probably wouldn’t have encountered if it wasn’t for Instagram’s Asian beauty community. Unlike famous brands like Innisfree, Etude House, Tony Moly etc. which have both physical and online stores, I believe Purito products are only available online. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop them from being one of the most loved brands in the community.

Their philosophy is to use clean ingredients to restore the skin barrier. While this is mostly the case for Korean brands, Purito definitely takes this motto by heart. My favorite products from them are from the Green Level line in which all the products have ingredients with an EWG rating of 1-2 (green, hence the name). Basically, these low values of EWG rating means that the ingredients used are non-irritating. This makes the products from this line ideal for sensitive skin types.

Ever since Purito released this sunscreen, I’ve always been intrigued to find out how incredible it is since everyone raves about all the other products from this line. I’ve been using this for a few weeks now so I’m finally ready to drop my verdict.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin

Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin Review

Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin Review:

Innisfree is one of those Korean brands that everyone trusts to have amazing products. Their philosophy is to create products using naturally derived ingredients from the island of Jeju. The brand is famous for their Green Tea and Orchid lines of products (both of which I have tried and love). So when they released their Ginger Honey line, I immediately wanted to get my hands on them.

The one that caught my eye the most is the Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin. For those who are not yet familiar with Korean skincare terminologies, an ampoule is a more concentrated version of a serum while skin is another term used for toner.

Being categorized as an ampoule skin, this product serves dual purpose. Unlike a few years ago when the 10-step Korean skincare routine was all the rage, a more simplified routine comprising of multi-purpose products is preferred nowadays. As someone who is obsessed with skincare, I was intrigued to see if this product can help me reduce the number of steps in my routine.

[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet BR01 Pretty Brown Pink

Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet BR01 Pretty Brown Pink Review

Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet BR01 Pretty Brown Pink Review:

I’m a fan of Missha’s skincare. It is the brand which introduced us to cult favorites like the Time Revolution the First Treatment Essence and the All Around Safe Block sunscreens. However, I don’t have a lot of experience when it comes to their makeup products. In fact, this lip tint is the only makeup product I have from the brand.

I have been using lip tints for years now and based on my experience, the best ones definitely come from South Korea (which isn’t really hard to believe since they’re the one who started this trend). Anyway, I first saw this Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet on an online website and well…it was love at first sight! One look on its super adorable packaging and I knew I just had to have it (yes, I’m totally one of those people who buy things based on packaging without knowing much about the product).

There are five shades to choose from which includes a red (RD01), an orange (OR01), a brownish-pink (BR01), and two coral shades (CR01 and CR02). Since I already have a lot of reds and oranges in my collection, I decided to get the brownish-pink shade. It was priced at 260php (~$5) when I bought it which is a great bargain for such a pretty looking lip tint in my opinion.
