[REVIEW] Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum 97%

Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum 97% Review

Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum 97% Review:

There are a good number of Korean skincare and cosmetics products that adopt cutesy designs to attract female consumers. There is a part of me that goes “wooh” and “wah” over these too. But there is just one brand that I think was meant to achieve this, but somehow I did not take to it – Elizavecca.

Reading up on the brand story of Elizavecca, it was said to be established by a “Korean student who studied traditional Chinese medicine” in Year 2011. The brand prides itself on offering its products at affordable prices to allow more people to enjoy beautiful skin. It uses picture of a pig and many of its products has the word “piggy” on their name. I do not find the pig cute and in fact felt that the whole feel of its range of products feel unprofessional and unconvincing.

But as I was searching for hyaluronic product to alleviate my dehydrated skin, this Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid 97% which garnered many raved reviews kept coming up on the search results.  So I decided I should cast aside my biasness and give it a try.

[REVIEW] The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% Review

The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% Review:

I have had successes with a few of The Ordinary Products and naturally I kept going back to the product range to see which others may suit me. I have also read a lot about Vitamin C and its benefits when applied on skin, besides taking as an oral supplement.

The Ordinary has quite a number of Vitamin C products and I was confused to which to try. I finally settled for The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% because it comes in a serum form and I do like the dropper system.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Derma Formula Micellar Cleansing Water Fresh

Innisfree Derma Formula Micellar Cleansing Water Fresh Review

Innisfree Derma Formula Micellar Cleansing Water Fresh Review:

I have had the habit of double cleansing since years back, after I switched from a make-up removal cleanser to using micellar cleansing water. I started using micellar cleansing water because I like how gentle it is to the skin. However, it does not seem to address my other skincare needs for oily skin which is why I have a separate cleanser for this.
I was only aware of a particular brand of micellar water all these while and had been using it faithfully. It was only in the recent couple of years or so when I start to learn more keenly about Korean skincare that I realised their skincare regime recommends double cleansing.

So Koreans probably make pretty good micellar water, won’t they? And when I subsequently came across a Youtuber comparing the brand of micellar cleansing water I use against a Korean brand, with the latter containing less chemical ingredients, I made a mental note that I should try out one.

And came this day when I was browsing the shelves in Innisfree when I saw this micellar cleansing water that says “with hyaluronic acid” and “for oily & combination skin”. So although this is not the one that I saw recommended in the Youtube video I mentioned, I decided it may be worth a try based on its label. This derma line was released by Innisfree some time around the 4th quarter of 2017. It has another variant “Moist” that is meant for dry skin.

[REVIEW] Iunik Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum

Iunik Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum Review

Iunik Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum Review:

Sometimes I wonder if it is me or if is human nature to be self-contradictory.  On one hand we look for value for money, but on the other hand when products seem too inexpensive compared to similar in the range, there are doubts over its efficacy and authenticity.

I chanced upon the brand Iunik and liked its packaging simplicity as well as the reasonable price point.  But really, what brand is this? And for the product claims, the pricing seemed too good to be true. After googling on it, alas with limited information found, I decided to take the plunge anyway.

So this is what I found for sharing – Iunik is from South Korea and a newbie to the (I would say) very saturated skincare industry, having entered only in November 2016.  Its name actually stands for Ideal, Unique, Natural, Ingredients, Know-how.  Although the brand is new, the company apparently has more than 10 years of experience in skin care and cosmetics products, mainly exporting out of South Korea.

It offers quite a number of products and I decided on the Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum because my dehydrated skin really needs help.

Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara Advance Film Black Review

Isehan Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara Advance Film Black Review:

I believe the notion of equating big well-defined eyes to beauty is the same worldwide. And there are so many brands and types of eye makeup products in the market. I personally am a subscriber to mascara. Having “studied” them long enough, I sum up that they all essentially promise any or all of the three features – long, curl and volume.

Waterproof, smudgeproof or coloured mascaras are added functions. So how to differentiate one brand from another? Even within each brand, there are so many variations. Ughh…life is so complicated *lol* I have had tried many different brands of mascara over many years, but have not found one that retained my loyalty. When I chanced upon this Kiss Me mascara, it looks promising. So will this be the one?

[REVIEW] Shangpree Crystal BB Cream

Shangpree Crystal BB Cream Review

Shangpree Crystal BB Cream Review:

It is no wonder that the skincare and makeup industry is thriving. We gals (and probably even guys now) can just never get enough of them. We have stash of products lying around on the vanity top, but still on the search for others. And the brands ride on this consumerism, marketing their products with wonder claims.

So I could not help myself when I came across this Shangpree Crystal BB Cream while on my “web shopping” one day. Shangpree is the brand of a renowned luxurious spa in Korea which has been around for about 27 years. It offers its own line of skincare products and is especially known for its masks.

[REVIEW] The Ordinary Buffet

The Ordinary Buffet Review

The Ordinary Buffet Review:

I chanced upon a Youtuber reviewing this skincare brand called The Ordinary. On further search online, it seemed that this Canadian brand has generated quite some buzz. Its low pricing for the products that are so raved and the targeted ingredients used in each of its products got me interested.

The Ordinary is from this company called DECIEM, and is also known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”. Abnormal? I am not sure what to make of this. Well, yes, for sure the prices for its products from The Ordinary are not that normal. I was hopeful that its products will work abnormally well on my skin, where many had failed.
After falling in love with the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc PCA 1%, I decided to try out its other products and had my eyes on The Buffet.

[REVIEW] Hylamide HA Blur

Hylamide HA Blur Review

Hylamide HA Blur Review:

I got pretty curious about DECIEM and its products after coming across many reviews of products from its economical range The Ordinary.

DECIEM is a Canadian company, interestingly also known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”.  It started as a modest company in year 2013 with only 1 brand and 1 product but has since grown to carry 10 brands under its umbrella with an array of products ranging from skincare to hair care. The Ordinary is one of its better known brand, raved for the product efficacy and the attractive price point.

And having tried the Niacinamide 10% + Zince PCA 1% myself, I am sold that their products are worth a second look. So I went on to check out its other skincare brands and products. Hylamide is its mid-range skincare brand which was in fact launched before The Ordinary though I do not come across it as much on google search. Probably lesser hype because the prices are about double that of The Ordinary, akin to many other mid-range brands in the market. So what other differences are there?  The Ordinary have the ingredients in separate serum, so in a way, it is very targeted. Hylamide combines the ingredients to address various skincare concerns and offers the complete range of products including sun protection and primer which The Ordinary does not have. Not to mention the packaging for Hylamide is more colorful.

[REVIEW] Innisfree My Hair Recipe Refreshing Shampoo | Oily Scalp

Innisfree My Hair Recipe Refreshing Shampoo Review

Innisfree My Hair Recipe Refreshing Shampoo Review:

In my recent visit to the hair salon, my stylist did a scalp analysis for me and revealed that my scalp is oily with clogged follicles. She attributed my thinning hair to this, although I am not so certain this is indeed the cause. In any case, it got me looking more keenly at shampoos for oily scalp that helps with sebum issues.

I have had good experience with Innisfree hair products previously and am rather attracted to its new My Hair Recipe range, which claimed to use natural ingredients (from Jeju). So I decided to try out its Refreshing Shampoo meant for oily scalp.
