Blithe Patting Splash Mask Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey Review:
If I could associate a single word to Blithe Cosmetics, it would be INNOVATION. This brand does not carry the typical skin care products most people are familiar with. In fact, when I first encountered the brand and their products, I was utterly clueless. Blithe is a brand that caters to people living a busy lifestyle in an urban setting. Hence, most of their products aim to address skin concerns brought about by pollution, such as fine dust, in a manner that is both efficient and enjoyable.
Honestly speaking, I haven’t tried a lot of their products because they are a bit on the pricier spectrum. The one and only product I have from them is the one I’m reviewing today – the Blithe Patting Splash Mask in the variant Energy Yellow Citrus and Honey. I got this patting mask as a part of a curated box from an Asian Beauty website which is basically a set of products from different brands sold at a much cheaper price than their retail value.
It actually took months before I opened this up because, as I’ve mentioned earlier, I was clueless as to what it is and what it does. After doing a bit of research and finding out what an amazing product this actually is, I immediately dived in for a splash (get it?) and never looked back.
I’m already halfway into using up this bottle so I think I can now share my honest opinion on this.
+ This liquid mask treatment delivers traditional moisturizing benefits along with gentle exfoliation.
+ Formulated with a lactic acid blend and enriched with botanical extracts, the Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey Splash Mask reveals smoother skin and leaves the face feeling refreshed and glowing.
+ It’s formulated with citrus extracts and honey, aiding in brightening and energizing dull, tired skin.

Blithe Patting Splash Mask Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey Review:
Let’s start this review by actually defining what a patting mask is. Basically, it is a concentrated liquid that you dilute in water and splash on your face. By doing so, you’ll achieve the same effects as using a traditional sheet mask for a fraction of the time (in this case 15 seconds instead of 15-20 minutes). According to the brand, the idea came from the practice of Korean women of splashing rice water after washing their faces. Don’t you just love how they modernized this practice?
Blithe has three variants of this patting mask: Energy Yellow Citrus and Honey (for clear and brighter skin with hypoallergenic care of dead skin cells), Soothing and Healing Green Tea (to calm stressed and irritated skin, and balance skin with oil controlling and pore clarifying), and Rejuvenating Purple Berry (for supple and smooth skin).
I personally would like to try all three variants if given the chance but the Soothing and Healing Green Tea variant intrigues me the most. But in this review, I’ll be discussing my thoughts and experience with the one I have which is the Energy Yellow Citrus and Honey.
Lactic acid takes the second place in the ingredient list which makes this product primarily a chemical exfoliator. It is a kind of AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) which is used in skincare for reducing the appearance of dark spots and rough texture by ungluing the dead skin on the top most layer. AHAs are also used to help remove whiteheads.
Another notable ingredient is honey which nurtures and moisturizes the skin. Additionally, both orange and lemon fruit extracts are added which are ingredients used to reduce hyperpigmentation and help brighten skin complexion.
For those who are sensitive to scents, this does contain Lavender, Citrus, and Orange oil so you might want to take that into consideration. I wouldn’t recommend this to people who have sensitivity to fragrance.
This comes in a transparent golden plastic bottle with a twist cap. There is a stopper so dispensing the product is easy to control.
I’m a fan its citrus scent. It is specially energizing when I use this mask after my morning shower which really helps wake my senses up for the day ahead. Some people might find the smell too strong though.
If you’ve read the instructions on how to use this, you’d know that there are two methods. In the first one, you’re supposed to take a cap-full of product, put it on your palms and splash it on your face while in the shower. I personally find this method very awkward because this mask has a water-like consistency. I much prefer doing this mask using the second way.
Basically, you fill a basin with water, pour a cap-full of product and use the solution to splash water into your face. This is such an enjoyable mask to use, in each splash on the face, I feel my skin getting smoother and softer. After 15-30 seconds of splashing, my face never fails to look brighter and more even toned.
I also noticed that my skin doesn’t dry out as quickly even if I don’t proceed with my skin care routine right away. I did experience slight stinging when I first used this mask but after several uses, I no longer do so.
I use this mask 1-2 times a week particularly on day when I need my skin to look its best. Since this is a form of chemical exfoliation, I always make sure to apply sunscreen when I use this during the day.
Overall, this mask is a must try if you’re a skin care enthusiast. I also highly recommend this for people who don’t have the time (or don’t want to) to use sheet mask. This particular variant is suitable for those who suffer from hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Although quite pricey, I will be repurchasing this product once I ran out and would perhaps opt to try the other variants as well. I do hope they go on sale though!
