Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV Review:
Canmake is a popular Japanese brand known for its makeup, has this awesome watery-type sunscreen called Mermaid Skin Gel UV with SPF50+ PA++++ rating. I’ve used this bottle for a little over a month, and it’s just about gone.
A gel texture sunscreen with SPF50+ PA++++, does NOT claim to be waterproof.

Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV SPF50+ PA++++ Review:
I’m already biased for this type of product because watery sunscreens feel amazing. It slides onto your skin smoothly and without any resistance, and feels just like you’re applying a light lotion.
According to my products log, I’ve tried a total of 22 different sunscreens, but besides this one, the only watery sunscreens I’ve used are Biore’s UV Aqua Gel (a cult favorite) and the Hada Labo UV Sunscreen Creamy Gel.
There is absolutely no white cast and no alcohol fragrance (I’m looking at you, Biore), so if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing, this might be a better option for you. In fact, there’s hardly any type of scent at all.
I believe I paid $12 for it including shipping using a buying service from Japan, which sucks because the price in Japan is only 700 yen. It is now available from more online sellers!
The product is not waterproof, of course, and can be easily taken off with one cleanser. If you plan to sweat a lot or be in direct sunlight for a while, this gel sunscreen probably won’t provide enough protection. I’m a hermit so it’s not really a problem for me.
Conclusion: Rating – 5/5
My favorite of the 3 watery gel sunscreens I’ve tried for daily wear! Would not use for extended outdoor use or any type of outdoor activities because it is not waterproof, but otherwise extremely comfortable on the skin. Would definitely repurchase.
