[REVIEW] Etude House Active Proof Liquid Fitting Base SPF50+ PA++++ Light Beige

Etude House Active Proof Liquid Fitting Base SPF50+ PA++++ Light Beige Review

Etude House Active Proof Liquid Fitting Base SPF50+ PA++++ Light Beige Review:

With the satisfying result of the Etude’s Active Proof Shield Wear Color Tint, it makes this foundation listed on my ‘next-to-try’ list. I’ve been trying to find it everywhere but the only way I can get it is by get it directly from Korea and it takes 4 to 6 weeks so I decide to wait until someone stock it and I’m so happy that finally my local seller has it on stock!

So Active Proof Liquid Fitting Base is a part of their latest summer collection, the Active Proof line. Consists of various products, this collection is perfect for summer season since it’s waterproof, lightweight, and stay all day. I don’t know exactly what this product is since Etude House didn’t explain if it’s a foundation, BB cream, or just a skin tint.

The ‘waterproof and stay all day part’ sounds too good to be true but the lip tint performs exactly as they said so I believed them and decide to try the foundation. If it’s truly stay all day, it’d be a good news for everyone with oily skin.

But unfortunately, they only make it in 2 different shades. There are definitely more than 2 skin tones in this world but as usual from a Korean brand, you can’t expect them to have wide range of shades selection. I got the lightest shade but somehow I found it’s not exactly my perfect shade so the shade range really disappoints me.

[REVIEW] Etude House Face Liquid Blur Cherry Blossom Edition

Etude House Face Liquid Blur Cherry Blossom Edition Review

Etude House Face Liquid Blur Cherry Blossom Edition Review:

The first time I tried the original face blur I wasn’t that impressed with it – but that was my first impression of it. Once I tried it again I actually really liked it and I was about to order it again when I saw that Etude House came out with this Cherry Blossom edition. Naturally being a fan of sakura (cherry blossom) designs, I couldn’t resist trying this version of the face blur.

What I didn’t realize was that this is actually different from the regular one, but I didn’t realize that until it had arrived. So, I wasn’t sure how I would like this formula compared to the regular one. I wanted this for the pretty design mostly but it’s a shame it’s not the same as the regular one. What if I really love the formulation of this one and it’s discontinued too soon? Hopefully that won’t be the case, but let’s see if the formula matches the pretty and lovely packaging.

[REVIEW] Pony Effect Ultimate Prep Primer Hydrate

Pony Effect Ultimate Prep Primer Hydrate Review

Pony Effect Ultimate Prep Primer Hydrate Review:

I’m sure every K-beauty enthusiasts must have heard Pony’s name before, at least once in their lives. Pony, or Park Hye Mi, was an ulzzang (best face/someone with beautiful face) from South Korea and she started getting more famous after her segment Pony Beauty Diary on InsiteTV became a big hit.

Since then she started her own makeup tutorial channel and became more famous internationally and honestly her makeup skill is no joke! She even worked as Korean idols makeup artist. She announced her collaboration with Memebox but then she made her own makeup line called Pony Effect.

I do have oily yet rough skin texture and it’s very hard for me to find a good product that will match my skin condition. If I used product for oily skin, my skin texture becomes more rough and dry but if I used moisturizing product, it makes my skin produces more sebum.

After researching about my skin, turns out I have a dehydrated skin and hydrating products will be the best solution for me. That’s why I choose this primer because it has ‘Hydrate’ option whereas her other primers are for mattifying and moisturizing only.

[REVIEW] April Skin Magic Snow Cushion Pink SPF 50+ PA+++ 01 Pink

April Skin Magic Snow Cushion Pink SPF 50+ PA+++ 01 Pink Review

April Skin Magic Snow Cushion Pink SPF 50+ PA+++ 01 Pink Review:

The infamous magic snow cushion.. I’d say that it’s definitely one of the top 3 most widely known Korean cushion foundations. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while but as I was about to purchase it, I stumbled upon this one. It had a great discount and I loved the packaging so I decided to give this one a try first.

Firstly, I’d like to clarify that I know, since I have PIE, I’m probably the last person who could use a pink tinted cushion. However, I don’t have hyperpigmentation all over my face! The areas where most people (and I) like to tone are the areas where I don’t have hyperpigmentation (except for my cheeks, that’s where all the redness is). Even if I had completely clear skin, I still wouldn’t use it all over my face. The more layers of products you put on your skin, the cakier it’ll look.

[REVIEW] New 2018 VDL + PANTONE 18 Expert Color Primer For Eyes Serenity

VDL + PANTONE 18 Expert Color Primer For Eyes Serenity Review

VDL + PANTONE 18 Expert Color Primer For Eyes Serenity Review:

A while ago I asked around regarding the eye primers, people would recommend for an oily eyelid that’s sensitive to drying eye primers (which apparently are a lot of them). I got two results and since the other one was difficult to gain access to I ended up taking this one instead.

Now, I was going for their regular primers, BUT the Pantone editions have more product for a very good price (6.5g for 15 vs 13g for 22) so I took this one instead! VDL Expert Color Primer focuses on matte eyeshadows, my favorites which I always have a hard time wearing. And it has the advantage it looks like unicorn blood.

[REVIEW] Hylamide HA Blur

Hylamide HA Blur Review

Hylamide HA Blur Review:

I got pretty curious about DECIEM and its products after coming across many reviews of products from its economical range The Ordinary.

DECIEM is a Canadian company, interestingly also known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”.  It started as a modest company in year 2013 with only 1 brand and 1 product but has since grown to carry 10 brands under its umbrella with an array of products ranging from skincare to hair care. The Ordinary is one of its better known brand, raved for the product efficacy and the attractive price point.

And having tried the Niacinamide 10% + Zince PCA 1% myself, I am sold that their products are worth a second look. So I went on to check out its other skincare brands and products. Hylamide is its mid-range skincare brand which was in fact launched before The Ordinary though I do not come across it as much on google search. Probably lesser hype because the prices are about double that of The Ordinary, akin to many other mid-range brands in the market. So what other differences are there?  The Ordinary have the ingredients in separate serum, so in a way, it is very targeted. Hylamide combines the ingredients to address various skincare concerns and offers the complete range of products including sun protection and primer which The Ordinary does not have. Not to mention the packaging for Hylamide is more colorful.

[REVIEW] The Face Shop Air Cotton Makeup Base SPF30 PA++ 01 Mint

The Face Shop Air cotton Makeup Base SPF30 PA++ 01 Mint Review

The Face Shop Air cotton Makeup Base SPF30 PA++ 01 Mint:

Now, anyone with acne will relate. Concealing acne is HARD! But thankfully, it’s doable (if you graduated from Hogwarts). In my case, I’m a bit lucky since I don’t have many bumps but a lot of redness. A popular way to conceal redness is colour correcting with green pigmentation. I tried it a couple of times in the past but I have many spots across my face and using a tiny product isn’t helping, so I thought I should try a green pigmented primer. I found this one at an affordable price and with a lot of great reviews so I thought I shall give it a try.

[REVIEW] J.ONE Jelly Pack

J.one Jelly Pack Review

J.one Jelly Pack Review:

I kept seeing this J.one jelly pack coming up in K-beauty reviews, but it never quite caught my attention sufficiently to read the reviews because of its very plain packaging. Neither do the name of “jelly pack” help because I have no idea what it is for.

Then I saw it on the highly popular Korean beauty show “Get it Beauty”. The J.one jelly pack is developed by a popular Korean actress Ha Ji-won, to meet the needs of busy on-the-good women like her. I was enticed by its multi-functions claim of being hydrating, pore-smoothing and especially the tagline used by Ha Ji-won is that it is a “corset for your face” ie. firming and lifting. In addition, the jelly pack is free of ingredients that are generally frowned upon – parabens, mineral oils, sulfates and phthalates. Doesn’t that sounds just like what I need for my complicated skin type?

[REVIEW] April Skin Fixing Lip Shield

April Skin Fixing Lip Shield Review

April Skin Fixing Lip Shield Review:

Many of us are constantly looking for long lasting, transfer-proof lip colour products. It saves the hassle of having to re-apply. It avoids us looking unkempt with smudged lips. It saves embarrassment of lip marks on cups or boyfriends. We dream of looking impeccable with full sexy pouts like Song Hye Kyo, Jun Ji Hyun, Park Shin Hye and the list goes on.

Many lip colour products claimed to be long lasting and smudge-proof but not all performed as claimed. There are some that are decent enough, but we hope that the colours could hold out even better and longer.
So short of tattoo-ing our lips, here comes lip top coat. Different brands call it differently, but essentially, this is one product that is to be applied over your lip colour and seal it in to grant you long lasting and smudge-proof lip colour.  I was excited to try the April Skin Fixing Lip Shield and waited for it to arrive in my mailbox eagerly.
