Clio Kill Cover Founwear Cushion XP Review:
In 2017, Clio renewed their best-selling founwear cushion into something classier, with an updated formula promising 48 hours of wear instead of 24. The new XP version highlights a semi-matte finish which mimics skin, that is non-cakey nor sticky. It’s supposedly a mix between their original founwear and conceal cushion. The previous founwear and ampoule cushions were my favorite during the winter season, however I wanted something that I could use during all seasons, particularly in Spring and Fall when my skin changes from combo-oily to combo-dry.

Clio Kill Cover Founwear Cushion XP Review:
I bought this cushion in January, and have been using it almost every day for 5 months now. I’ve always acknowledged that Clio base products are one of the better options in the K-beauty market – so far I’ve used the kill cover concealers (both pot and liquid) and have tried a range of their cushion foundations and have never been disappointed.
The new XP cushions did not disappoint me as well, and is surely an improvement from the previous cushions all together! As it still sets on the dewy satin side, it definitely caters to all skin types and it does not cling onto the weird flaky patches around my mouth. However, combo-oily skin should still set with a powder nonetheless. It does not smear or transfer after it sets on the skin which is perfect.
I bought two shades, 03 Linen and 04 Ginger (they also carry a darker one now 05 Sand, which is great! I love to see diversity in K-beauty). In my swatches, the lighter swatch (top) is Linen and the darker shade (bottom) is Ginger. When blended out and dried, Ginger suits my NC20 skin the most. I must say their shade range is still rather on the fair side, NC15 in MAC would probably suit Linen best.
The shades do not oxidize, and that is definitely an improvement from the conceal cushion, where it oxidized terribly on me to the point where Ginger looked orange!
As for the coverage, it undeniably covers all of my post-breakout scarring, blackheads and under eye circles. This is probably the fullest coverage cushion I’ve ever owned, and a little goes a long way with one tap of the cushion. I’ve used two taps of the cushion to cover my stila eyeliner, it’s amazing that it can cover the redness on my hand and the eyeliner well!
There is no notable scent but my nose picked up a floral smell, it’s not heavily scented for sure. Apart from the cushion itself, I love the upgraded case (a mirror on the compact, so reflective!) and the cushion puff. The puff has a velvet feel to it and does not absorb a lot of product, which is great to make your money’s worth 😉
I have worn this for over 12 hours and I do notice fading around my nose, oiliness on my T-zone at the 7-8 hour mark, however I experience this issue even with crazy matte foundations (eg. Estee Lauder Double Wear). It tends to break up slightly on my chin and around my mouth area, on my cheeks it stays put without budging.
I do need to carry a powder around or just the cushion itself to touch up if needed. So far it has not broken me out, which is another plus point for breakout prone skin people.
Overall I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a high coverage cushion with SPF50, not heavily scented and decent yellow undertone shade range. I am still hoping that they would expand their range of shades in the future though to cater to people with tanner skin. As for the formula, this is probably the best Clio cushion released till date and I’m glad that it’s affordable as well.
