[REVIEW] Colourpop X Kathleen Lights – Dream St. Shadow Palette

Colourpop X Kathleen Lights – Dream St. Shadow Palette Review:

I kept eyeing this Dream St. palette since I saw it on Colourpop Instagram, few days before it’s officially launched. I immediately fell in love with all shades of 12 eyeshadows in this palette. They are all pretty and, like its name, very dreamy. And I guess a lot of beauty enthusiasts around the world have a same thought. No wonder, this palette was sold out in few hours after launched. Luckily, Colourpop worked hard to restock this product in several days, thus I was very happy to get mine a day before Christmas last year. It’s like a Christmas gift, haha!

Dream St. makeup collection is the second collaboration from Colourpop with a lovely and talented beauty influencer, Kathleen Lights. I did not know much about her before but then started following her because I love her videos and the shades she chose for this makeup collection seemed to be very pretty. They launched not only an eyeshadow palette but also three shades of lip cream with matte, satin and glossy finish. Following my good experience with Colourpop X My Little Pony Shadow Palette, I hope this Colourpop Dream St. Shadow Palette give me awesome result as well. Let’s see!

Colourpop X Kathleen Lights – Dream St. Shadow Palette Review:

I do not know about you, but honestly, good packaging seems to always be my biggest reason why I buy a beauty product, especially makeup. And even without knowing the shades inside, I think it would be hard for myself to refuse this lovely palette. The packaging is so stunning. And I think it’s the best among the other Colourpop’s palettes. That marble pattern with dusty rose-gold color is perfect. It looks so simple yet luxurious. Deserves its name, it feels so dreamy and elegant.

Both the outer box and the palette have similar design. And like other Colourpop’s eyeshadow palette, the package brings only the information of the shades name. Meanwhile the complete description and ingredients list of the product are available on the website.

The thing I like from Colourpop Shadow Palette is they always make it in a sleek design and handy size. The magnetic box is also sturdy, so it will not open accidentally. I don’t even care anymore if it doesn’t come with a mirror or applicator because so far I’m satisfied with its travel-friendly packaging.

Leaving the package, now let’s move to the 12 mini pans of eyeshadows inside. Colourpop X Kathleen Lights Dream St. Shadow Palette has pretty shades that are suitable for daily to party makeup. This palette brings neutrals, oranges, corals, golds, pinks, reds, browns and even teals shades. All shades can be combined to create soft, colorful, and even smokey looks, depends on your preferences and creativities. And just like usual, Colourpop shadow palette offers 3 types of eyeshadow; matte, metallic and satin.

Colourpop seem to always be very consistent in creating the formula of their pressed powder shadow palette. They always have great and soft texture, high and buildable pigmentation, good longevity and easy to blend (and, of course, affordable prices). Just at the moment you tried and loved one of their shadow palette, you don’t need to worry about the formula anymore when you want to buy their other ones.

Just like me when saw Dream St. Shadow Palette for the first time. I thought, “Oh, all shades are adorable and pretty. And, ah, it’s Colourpop! Okay, buy it!” Just because I already knew this brand has great quality, practically I only thought about the shades inside the palette. As I liked it, I bought it! And here are the 12 adorable shades in Colourpop X Kathleen Lights Dream St. Shadow Palette.

Shooting Star: described as “matte soft golden brown.” Is it just me who couldn’t see the gold hint? Simply, it is soft brown with peachy tone and matte finish. This is a great daily color if you like soft and natural look.

Magical: officially called “matte yellow peach.” Since I am into orangeish makeup lately, so I use this color oftentimes by creating a thin layer on my eyes. Its peach-orangeish tone makes my eyes look brighter. This eyeshadow is good for base color as well.

Star Dust: they say it is “metallic true copper.” And yes, they mean it! Copper brown with peachy tone and soft gold shimmers. This is a very pretty shade that makes you eyes look sparkling but still wearable for daily look.

Twinkle: “metallic true rose gold.” The shade seems to be soft earth-brown in rosy tone but added with a lot of silver shimmers. It is totally an adorable metallic color and will make your eyes look pop out. This shade has the most buttery texture among the other and don’t forget to blend it evenly because it can be a bit clumpy on oily eyelids.

Sweet Dreams: “metallic soft champagne with a peachy pink flip.” I love how soft this shade though it is described as a metallic color. The gold shimmers is very tiny and it is the best to be applied on inner corner eyes and as a highlighter.

Water Bearer: described as “matte cool teal.” The matte is actually dead matte but fortunately it doesn’t look too dry on eyes. It is one of the darkest shades in this palette and its bold teal with cool undertone shade is very opaque. The pigmentation is no joke! But it leaves a round stain on the inner cover of this palette (never mind, I’m just too fussy, haha).

Potion: “matte vivid reddish rust” is the description for this shade. Haha, this rust shade is very pretty in my opinion and it has more peachy than reddish tone. It has more powdery texture than the other matte shades.

Spark: “matte neon red.” A shade that will create a pop out look on your eyes. It is a bold and unique color with a lot of red-orange hue. The texture is similar with Potion which is quite powdery but the fallout is still acceptable, don’t worry. If you want to create bold vs bold color, Spark will be very pretty to combine with Mermaid Boy, just like my EOTD on the pictures below.

Kaleidoscope: “metallic intense silvery nude.” Another super metallic color beside Twinkle. This shade contains silver and blue shimmers and they are very pretty and sparkling. The texture is somewhat buttery but blends very easy and not clumpy.

Elfish: described as “matte rich red brown.” This shade has cool undertone and is perfect for crease. It is extremely pigmented with only one swipe. And I couldn’t be happier as it has, almost, no fallout when applied. Ah, I tried to pair this shade with Kaleidoscope, and they looked very stunning!

Moony: “satin soft baby pink.” The only one which has satin finish. It is perfect as a highlighter and under eyes area. I love using this shade to create a soft aegyo sal for my daily look. Its subtle color looks adorable and the creamy texture blends like heaven.

Mermaid Boy: “metallic deep teal.” Finally, this is like the iconic shade from this palette. Even though I do not use bold color a lot but I fall in love with its deep teal shade added with very soft blue shimmers. The most creamy texture with awesome color payoff and also a cute name, LOL. It’s stunning!

Colourpop X Kathleen Lights - Dream St. Shadow Palette Review

One or two shades may be more buttery or powdery than the others, but overall the 12 eyeshadows have nice texture without too much fallout or clumpy result. All shades adhere and blend so well on eyelids. It makes the application very easy even for the beginners.

What’s more, our creativity is limitless to create many looks with these 12 pressed powder shadows (you will be surprised with how nice the colors look when combined, like Spark and Mermaid Boy. They have different tone but look so adorable when used together).

Ah, just an information, pressed powder shadow is a kind of eyeshadow that I love the most (compared with the powder, liquid or cream type). I have oily eyelids but my brows area can be a bit dry sometimes, pressed powder eyeshadow works very well for my skin type as its formula won’t be too dry nor too oily on my skin. Also, its solid characteristic is not messy and blends easily.

I must say this palette is highly recommended (I guess all Colourpop Shadow Palette are recommended as well). Both Colourpop and Kathleen Lights did a very great job for creating awesome eyeshadow formula and choosing 12 incredible shades for this palette. I will wait for their next amazing collaboration. Yes, please do it again in the future!
