Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol Review:
Acne is an ever-persistent problem that many (if not all) of us have. Whether it is hormonal, product-related, recurring or occasional, pimples are pesky issues that leave us feeling self-conscious. Worst of all, the war is not over when the breakout has calmed down—it leaves behind a battle scar in the form of hyperpigmentation that takes months to eliminate. Thus, we are always in constant search of a preventative measures or quick fixes for acne-related woes.

Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol Review:
The Cosrx A-sol comes in a sturdy pump bottle. It’s minimalist design resembles many of the Cosrx actives—it is contained in an elongated white opaque bottle, topped with a black pump and comes with a transparent cover. Unlike Cosrx’s other products, however, it isn’t transparent so you wouldn’t be able to see how much product is left without opening it.
The A-sol has several notable ingredients. It contains 60% Propolis extract, an ingredient present in many acne-fighting products because of its known antibacterial properties. Bee propolis is great for soothing blemishes and facilitating quick healing. Thus, it aids in both clearing current pimples and preventing new ones from arising.
It also contains natural AHAs and BHAs that are excellent in improving skin texture and appearance. Glycolic acid is an AHA that works to slough off dead skin cells to clear blocked pores. It has also been known to lighten hyperpigmentation and reduce skin aging as it promotes cell turnover.
Betaine salicylate, a BHA, is one of the star ingredients of the A-sol. It is a gentler acid that functions in degunking pores, as it is oil-soluble and is capable of penetrating much deeper into the skin. It is also less irritating than its stronger BHA counterparts. The A-sol contains 1% betaine salicylate.
Alcohol is an ingredient that is pretty high on the list. However, its drying properties are counterbalanced by a number of moisturizers and humectants. The product contains butylene glycol, sodium lactate and sodium hyaluronate, which aid in drawing in and retaining moisture on the skin.
The pump mechanism works well and dispenses a good amount of product. The A-Sol itself has a very viscous consistency and feels very much like water. It also has a slight yellow tinge that is only noticeable in large amounts. Because it is a runny fluid, its easy to spread and tap into the skin.
The A-sol absorsbs really well and very quickly. Once applied, it leaves a mildly tacky finish that does not really go away, although it isn’t a big nuisance as you’ll be applying other products over this. However, it has a chemical tea tree-like smell that not a lot of people may be fond of. I quite like the scent but it may not be your cup of tea.
I used this product day and night for product for several months. Because I have a lot of troubled areas, I typically use 1-2 pumps to spot treat acne and rough patches. I then use two pumps all over my face like a toner to prevent potential upcoming breakouts.
After several months of use and one emptied bottle, I can honestly say that the Cosrx A-sol truly works wonders in maintaining breakouts. The recurring acne in my forehead, temple and cheek areas are all but gone now after diligently applying the A-sol.
First of all, it works really great as a spot treatment. I mostly apply it on deep pimples that don’t come to head. These are usually the blemishes that take forever to eliminate, but with the A-sol, they’re gone within a week. For acne that has surfaced, I apply the A-sol in the morning and use pimple patches at night. Once the pimple has flattened, I go back to using the A-sol day and night to clear them much faster. Applying the A-sol soothes and heals pimples really well.
Because my recurring acne has disappeared thanks to consistent us of the A-sol, I now just use it as a preventative measure for future breakouts. It works well for this purpose because of its antibacterial and pore-cleaning properties.
I haven’t had any major troubles for the past few weeks, which I believe I can attribute to the product. I rarely get any hormonal pimples as well during that time of the month. If ever, I know I can rely on the A-sol to clear it quickly.
Another great thing about the product is that it is non-drying and quite gentle despite its chemical scent. Cosrx claims that it can be used by those who have sensitive skin because of this. Furthermore, it doesn’t dry our your skin unlike most acne-targeted products due to the presence of humectants and moisturizers.
The one negative thing that I didn’t like about this product was that it didn’t do much in controlling sebum production. As someone with combination skin, I had high hopes for the A-sol because it also claims to tone down oiliness. However, there was no noticeable difference decreasing sebum production.
4.5/5. The Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol is a great product to use for those who suffer from acne woes, regardless of skin type. It has a concentrated and potent ingredient list which works to combat current breakouts and prevent upcoming ones as it cleans pores and mildly exfoliates the skin.
It is also non-drying and even slightly moisturizing, and thus can can be used by those with sensitive skin. Two major issues with the A-sol would probably be the strong scent and inability to decrease oil production. Despite these, however, the Cosrx A-sol is still an amazing product that is truly effective in clearing recurring acne.
