COSRX Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser Review:

Read the New COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser 2017 Version review.

I have been on the lookout for a good cleanser to add to my skincare routine. I decided to test out this chemically exfoliating salicylic acid cleanser for troubled skin. COSRX is very famous for their acne fighting products, and this particular cleanser has great reviews and ratings on all retail websites that I could find.

I’m a little skeptical when buying new acne fighting products because 9 out of 10 of them does not work at all, and the cheapest drugstore counterpart usually outdoes them. Though after all the praising reviews I have read, I have high hopes for this product!

The cleanser is supposed to remove dead skin cells, blackheads, whiteheads and other dirt and oils from your pores. It will also control sebum production.

The two main active ingredients are tea tree oil and salicylic acid. Tea tree oil is a great anti-inflammatory agent and salicylic acid is a good exfoliator!

Glycerin, Water, Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Lauric Acid, Peg-32, Cocamidopropyl Betaine Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glyceryl Stearate, Polyquaternium-7, Lauramide Dea, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Polysorbate 60, Peg-100 Stearate, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sorbitan Olivate, Cellulose Gum, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract, Disodium Edta.

Volume: 150 ml

How to use:

  • Gently rub the cleanser in your hands to form bubbles.
  • Apply to the face with your fingertips, focusing on the T-zone. Rub and massage the product into your skin gently.
  • Too much rubbing may cause irritation or dryness.
  • Wash off very carefully, making sure no product is left on the face.
  • When washing off, use splashes of water instead of manual rubbing to avoid over stimulating the skin.
  • After rinsing your face, tap your skin with cold water to enhance the products ability to minimize pores.

My Skin Type: Oily and acne prone.

COSRX Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser Review:

I think the packaging is quite “serious” for Korean skincare. I actually rather like the simplified look. The product has a light tea tree scent which might be a concern for those with low tolerance for fragrances. I’m however not bothered by it.

COSRX Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser

The consistency of the Cosrx salicylic acid exfoliating cleanser is quite solid and I personally like to apply it directly to my face without rubbing it in my hands prior to applying it to my face. This in my opinion has no effect on the product itself, just personal preference.

The product does not form big bubbles or foam, it is more of a creamy consistency with very tiny bubbles. Nonetheless, a very little product goes along way. Even a decent pea sized amount of product covers the whole face!

After washing my face it feels squeaky clean, in a good way. My face does not feel too “tightened” or dry, there is enough moisture left to feel pretty much just perfect! I noticed it does remove a lot of dead skin cells, oil and dirt.

I use a make-up remover and cleanser before using this product, leaving this to the final stage of actually cleansing my skin.

I would definitely re-purchase this item without a question. The price is good and the product does seem to work as promised.

If you have oily and troubled skin, I can highly recommend this product! If your skin is sensitive and prone to dryness, you might have to give this one a pass, or counteract the heavy exfoliating and drying with a good overnight moisturizer mask!

  1. I’ve been using this in conjunction with the ph balancing cleanser. My skin is clearing up and I’ve had fewer breakouts. I think the products will work even better once I’ve had a few microdermabrasion treatments. I also use the BHA/AHA toner and plan to add some of the other products. My skin is oily also so the true test will come when I go back to using makeup and whether I start shining or not!
