[REVIEW] KLAIRS Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

KLAIRS Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop Review:

As I am hitting this certain age milestone, I am more and more intrigued with the use of the peptides in cosmetics. So, peptides are partial chains of amino acids that create proteins. There are so many of peptides that are very popular as skin care ingredients with dramatic claims of stopping aging processes as the whole, to plump skin, to prevent and to erase wrinkles and so on and on. I am aware of the fact that the elixir of the everlasting youth is still yet to come to this world, but nevertheless, I am amused by the trial (and errors) of the cosmetics in my life. So, peptides are good. Ergo, why not?

Dear, Klairs is the brand of Wish Company Inc. Korea, that owns Wishtrend (web shop), Wishtrade (worldwide distribution of Korean skin care brands) , Wish TV (Youtube channel) and Wishtrend Glam (blog). It targets the market of those with sensitive, troubled, aging skin types. Exactly my kind of group.
This product, Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is the first anti-aging product of Dear, Klairs.

KLAIRS Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop Review:

I will skip right to the end of this review, as I can’t wait to say I love it! As I said before, I can’t debate about the actual effect of the peptides to the aging process, but I can tell immediately that my skin loves this serum. It instantly calms inflammation and irritation of the skin and leaves it smooth and calm.

It’s watery, it’s blue, it’s odourless, it’s great. Very simple bottle (very trendy now to have those minimalistic little bottles) with the pipette applicator.

Now, let’s get nerdy, shall we.

It contains Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF, sh-Oligopeptide-1), and Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF, sh-Polypeptide-1). Growth factors are peptides that are responsible for cellular growth, in purpose of maintaining healthy skin function and after all, skin appearance.

I need to mention biochemist Stanley Cohen and Dr Rita Levi-Montalcini who both were awarded with Nobel Prize in 1986 for discovery of EGF. They set the cornerstone for the future researches and application of this particular peptide in cosmeceuticals.

This is impressive list of ingredients. So few of them, but powerful as it seems.

Blueberry fruit extract – to soothe and to protect skin.

Guaiazulene – blue coloured derivative of azulene that occurs in chamomile oil. This is why this serum is blue. Guaiazulene also has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

Adenosine – yeast derived ribonucleoside with great benefits to the skin – anti-aging, anti-inflammatory.

Others on the list are emollients, humectants and a pinch of preservatives.

And this is really working for me. I apply it as the first step right after cleansing steps. I use four to five drops on different parts of face and dab it in fast, as it is very watery. I wait couple of minutes to absorb well, and then proceed with the rest of my skin care routine. In the morning, my skin always seems content and calm. And that’s huge deal for me.

I will repurchase this serum. Unless the future studies show that EGF and FGF are really bad for my skin. I recommend it to literally every skin type, unless really young and of course allergic to any of the ingredients mentioned above.
