Deciem Abnomaly Petrowhat? Lip Balm Bali aka Pineapple Flavour was purchased by Cosmeperks.
If you follow beauty trends, you must have heard about Deciem. They are known for their sub-brand called The Ordinary that specialized for skin care and make up which were very hyped last year. Their products are so budget-friendly and based on some reviews I read, the results on the skin are amazing. I always want to try their product but they always sold out here in my country so it’s really a war if you want to get something from them.
Recently Deciem launched another brand called Abnomaly and Petrowhat? is one of the first releases. Nigama gave me a chance to try their Petrowhat? (interesting name, I know) and I was so excited to try something different once in a while.
Petrowhat? is a lip and skin ointment in one product and they have 4 different flavors you can choose from. The flavor consists of Bali (pineapple), Milk (coconut milk), Rio (guava), and Baobab (I don’t know what flavor it is. The website even describes it as ‘what’s that?’ flavor). Among those 4 options, my local seller only has Bali and Baobab in stock so I choose the Bali one since I’m not sure what Baobab is.
The most exciting things from this ointment (especially if you are vegan) are that they are gluten-free, nut-free, alcohol-free, vegan, silicone-free, and even cruelty-free! I’m not vegan but I really appreciated that they didn’t test this on animals. They also replaced Petrolatum (thing you can find in most ointments that can cause clogged pores) with natural ingredients, that’s definitely a plus point for me.
+ Unlike waxy and occlusive petrolatum-based formulations that mainly help hold in existing water content, this super-saturated and long-lasting lip and skin balm is filled with a high concentration of skin-identical Amino Acids in a Plant-derived Squalane and Baobab Oil base.
+ This formula helps in protecting, hydrating and repairing dry skin from the moment it’s first used.
+ The total concentration of these technologies in the formula by weight is 75%.
Squalane, Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sucrose Laurate, Sucrose Stearate, Sodium PCA, Sodium Lactate, Arginine, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, PCA, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Isoleucine, Proline, Threonine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Aspartic Acid, Isochrysis Galbana Extract, Tocopherol, Aroma (Natural Flavour).
How to Use :
1. Apply to lips and/or dry skin areas that need love.
2. Use as needed… or more than needed if you prefer to finish the tube more quickly to try another flavor.
Volume : 15ml
My lips area : Slightly dry
Deciem Abnomaly Petrowhat? Lip Balm Bali aka Pineapple Flavour Review:
Come in a long colorful box, Petrowhat? has basic information like ingredients and directions so you don’t have to check their website just to find those information. On the front side you can find a pineapple and a mouth with angel wings design which I don’t know what those pictures are supposed to mean.
The actual packaging is a white squeeze tube with a red lid and I find it’s very similar to a toothpaste, it works like it as well. You need to squeeze it gently to let the product out and if you squeeze too hard, too much product will come out and you can’t put them back anymore so be careful when you squeeze it.
If you want to travel and bring this with you, I’d suggest you to keep it in the box because who knows, it can be squeezed accidentally and make a mess everywhere just like I did with my Peripera Ink Blurring Skin Tint.
The one I got is in Bali (or pineapple) flavor and it does really smell and taste like a real pineapple! I licked my lips once and it tastes sweet and sour just like a pineapple is and honestly, it’s addicting and I kept licking my lips over and over.
The product itself has a jelly texture, a little bit thick but oily as it contains oil as well. It has a yellowish color which I think maybe because it’s in pineapple flavor.
Even though it’s thick, it’s very easy to spread but I’d suggest to use just a little bit of product because it takes time to let my lips absorb it. It’s also very oily so it’s good for dry lips but it makes my lips feel heavy and a bit uncomfortable.
The good side is, it’s working really good in moisturizing my lips. I don’t have severe dry lips but I do have stubborn dry patches that won’t go away even after I apply different lip balms. I’m impressed it can make my lips feel smooth and well-moisturized! I don’t mind the oiliness too much as long as it can make my lips look better.
The oiliness will stay on the lips for a really long time but maybe that’s one of the reason why it keeps my lips moisturized for a long time as well. To remove the oil you can remove it with a tissue but that will make your lips feel dry faster so I won’t recommend it.
Turns out Petrowhat? can be used for dry skin as well. Not as a moisturizer, but it can help to moisturize dry parts on your skin. I have some dry patches on my right cheek so it’s perfect to test if this ointment will work amazingly on the skin or not.
As you can see on the picture, I have redness and dry parts on my cheek. It doesn’t look too visible but when I touch my cheek, it feels scratchy and look uneven.
I tried the ointment on my dry parts only and I’m happy to say that it’s working pretty good as well! It makes my skin looks smoother and I can’t be more satisfied with the result.
But because of the heavy oil in it, it can’t be used under your makeup because it can make your makeup looks patchy and cakey. I prefer using this ointment after I wash my face because that’s when my skin looks dry the most so I can see which part need to be more moisturized.
I also don’t recommend you to use it before you go to sleep because the oil can transfer to your pillow and make it sticky and uncomfortable.
I think it’s really good and worth the price! If you have dry skin and dry lips, this product will be a life-saver for you. If you have oily skin, you may find it’s too heavy for you. It doesn’t make me break out and I can see it will last me for a really long time since I only need a small amount for each use.
