[REVIEW] Dr. MORITA Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask

Dr. MORITA Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask Review:

Honestly, Dr. Morita mask had already caught my attention by the first time I entered every Taiwan drugstore. Dr. Morita really does a good job providing the mask sheet enthusiasts, as there are soooo many ranges and variants of Dr. Morita masks. And, as if the various ranges aren’t interesting enough, they also come in eye-catching packaging.

While at first Dr. Morita’s constant paraben content makes me in doubt whether I should try the products or not, I finally decided to give this a try : Dr. Morita Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask. Why this one? Well, this variant has a bright yellow cover which is very appealing, and the main component – egg shell membrane – is quite unique for me. So, it’s mask sheet time!

Dr. MORITA Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask Review:

I bought Dr. Morita – Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask in a box contains 8, but unfortunately both the single packaging and the box don’t accommodate me with any English information besides the ingredients list and product volume.

Once the packaging was opened, I could smell the nice scent. It must be fragrance scent, but it wasn’t irritating or too strong so I’ll leave it here.

However, the noticeable thing that differs this mask from other brands was the size! It was so unusually wide and big especially on the cheek size.

This was quite weird for me, since Taiwanese sheet mask are usually small-to-normal sized, but this one was certainly bigger than My Beauty Diary, LOVEMORE, My Scheming, Naruko, and Neogence – the fellow Taiwanese sheet mask brands.

Precisely, the horizontal line is 26 centimeters, as attached in the picture. As the result, I found this mask very uncomfortable to wear, let alone to fit perfectly into my face’s features.

However, this sheet mask does contain ‘high concentration of essence’, just like what it states on the cover. It was needed more time than usual to let the essence absorbed perfectly, since the amount was quite a lot too.

As for the material, nothing’s special with it; it wasn’t too thin, rather thick to be honest, with the usual perforated plastic layer to ease unfolding process.

Due to the big name of Dr. Morita brand and promising contents, I think it’s normal to expect wow result from this sheet mask. The various contents of protein (Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Proline, Threonine, Isoleucine, Histidine, Phenylalanine) should play a big role in effect, while some other ingredients like egg shell membrane, collagen, sake yeast, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, etc have their own effect distinctively.

Glycine and proline, for example, are involved in collagen production and hydration. Egg shell film is rich in amino acid, it can effectively retain water and give skin supple elasticity. Sake yeast moisturizes your skin, diminishes dull and clear skin. Hyaluronic acid is an ultra-moisturizing factor which makes skin firm and elastic. Aloe vera soothes and moisturizes skin. The ingredients list are quite something especially for moisturizing the skin, I reckon.

I must admit that I like its moisturizing effect. It did leave my face hydrated and supple on the next morning, even after several days passed. However, it was just that. Based on my personal experience, I think a smooth and supple skin is obligatory effect after using a mask sheet, at least that’s what a mask sheet should do.

Well, I might be predispose to underestimate this mask as there was still a collagen content, but I don’t think I could see the anti-aging effect in a short time, couldn’t I?

So I guess the nice things about Dr. Morita – Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask are only the high amount and concentration of essence, the nice smell, the moisturizing effect, and the various beneficial contents (which I’m not sure the single effects are).

Looking back to the ingredients list, I found that they actually focus on hydrating and moisturizing the skin. So I couldn’t blame the claim and after-usage effect, since this sheet mask really does what it claims.

According to cosdna, only a few ingredients contain safety index of 4, which are moisturizer and preservatives. I personally don’t think this is upsetting, if it’s not for the paraben ingredient. Yes, one of the 4-safety-index holder is methyl paraben as a preservative, but considering how other manufacturers compete to claim paraben-free, I hope Dr. Morita could do the same for their products.

Due to the paraben content and the modest after-usage feeling, I don’t think I’m gonna buy this variant again. I’m still curious to try another series from Dr. Morita though, as this brand is very popular.

For you who are curious to try Dr. Morita sheet masks or just looking for something moisturizing, this Dr. Morita – Egg Shell Membrane & Sake Yeast Essence Moisturizing Facial Mask could be an option too.

Every skin condition is different, so just don’t prejudice based on my experience ☺ A dry skin bearer would find this product quite decent and useful, as well as an oily skin bearer like me.
