[REVIEW] Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum 97%

Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum 97% Review:

There are a good number of Korean skincare and cosmetics products that adopt cutesy designs to attract female consumers. There is a part of me that goes “wooh” and “wah” over these too. But there is just one brand that I think was meant to achieve this, but somehow I did not take to it – Elizavecca.

Reading up on the brand story of Elizavecca, it was said to be established by a “Korean student who studied traditional Chinese medicine” in Year 2011. The brand prides itself on offering its products at affordable prices to allow more people to enjoy beautiful skin. It uses picture of a pig and many of its products has the word “piggy” on their name. I do not find the pig cute and in fact felt that the whole feel of its range of products feel unprofessional and unconvincing.

But as I was searching for hyaluronic product to alleviate my dehydrated skin, this Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid 97% which garnered many raved reviews kept coming up on the search results.  So I decided I should cast aside my biasness and give it a try.

The packaging comes with an authenticity sticker and QR code.  So this does give assurance to the increasing prevalence of fake products, especially for Korean skincare because of its popularity.

Interestingly, if you take a closer look at the picture, it is a pig in witch attire concocting something. It is probably to put forth the message that this serum is some magical potion.

The ingredient list seems like a dream combination. It lists hyaluronic acid as the first ingredient since this is to make up 97% of the product. I need not say much about hyaluronic acid, which is one of the hyped ingredients in skincare for essential hydration.

Other goodness include niacinamide for brightening and lightening of hyper-pigmentation, adenosine for anti-aging care, allantoin which is an anti-irritant and moisturiser that promotes faster cell turnover and argininewhich promotes collagen production.

Some of you who are very ingredient conscious may frown on the presence of PEG which has been claimed to increase the risk of cancer.  Based on what I googled, it is said that PEG is generally safe to use on healthy skin but NOT for broken or irritated skin. There had been instances where patients with severe burns being treated with PEG containing products and resulted in toxicity.

Although fragrance is listed as an ingredient, I detect no scent at all.

The application is straightforward, with the dropper picking up sufficient serum. Two drops are enough for my entire face. The serum is slightly more viscous than water, but lesser so compared to other serums I had tried.

The first time I tried it, I already decided I really like this serum! I loved the refreshing and hydrated feel on my skin right after application. It also absorbs really well, leaving no sticky feel. But I do get this too from other serums. So what makes this stand out?

It makes my skin feels more plump and control the sebum for longer hours. Over the two weeks I was using this serum, the results had been consistent. I do not own a skin analyser, but I believe that it has indeed provide the necessary hydration so that my skin is not overproducing oil to make up for the dryness.

And yes, I can’t wait to share my experience though it had less than a month of usage. I have always been on the search for something that could help with my oily yet dehydrated skin. This serum has so far seemed to be IT.

Because of the plumpness, the fine lines on some part of my face are also lighter.  It had done nothing for crowfeet or nasolabial lines. So it is not a miracle product. I don’t expect these to be erased. It is not botox.

It is after all just hyaluronic acid meant for hydration. But I am happy with what it has achieved thus far and have faith that after longer period of use, my overall skin condition would be healthier going by this positive start.

I am sold. Other than its efficacy, the reasonable pricing gave it added brownie point.  Putting aside my dislike for its packaging, I now do think I should give the other products from this brand a second look.
