Espoir Colorconic Velvet Tint Lacquer 901 Sweet Toast was purchased by Cosmeperks.
I must say I was reticent of the quality of Espoir and thought there was an over hype surrounding the brand. But in the end I was disappointed with something that was not the quality, and fell in love with the quality itself! In Korea Espoir is a brand you must try if you like lipsticks, and in my opinion they have a true ability of going multinational!
A color that stays as in the moment of application.

Espoir Colorconic Velvet Tint Lacquer 901 Sweet Toast Review:
First of all let me rant about the colors. These are the colors they have on the official website. And consequently on all resellers’ websites. You can see sweet toast looks like a neutral tending to warm brown color. Like a toast with marmalade!
I immediately fell in love with the color, didn’t think twice before ordering this color. I read the Korean description on the website which says “mannish brick brown” but looking at the color they showed and seeing how they said brick brown and not brick red or orange… I still thought it would be brown!
I am a (according to Koreans) cool winter tone, although I believe I tend towards neutral. Also, without big tone changes anyone can wear colors outside of their tone range. From cold winter to warm autumn that’s literally the biggest tone difference ever – and shade 201 Day To You is (in this picture) a warm autumn. So I got a neutral tending to warm color.
However let me tell you these colors are completely wrong, 901 Sweet Toast is exactly like the swatch color of 201 Day To You. The warmest brick color you can ever reach. Looks hideous on me and it took me months to figure out how to wear this lipstick.
That being said if you purchase this lipstick look for real life swatches applications and consider the reviewer’s skin tone.
Does this mean right away I dislike the lipstick? God no, it’s one of the best things to ever touch my lips! I just really hate the color on me. I hate brick colors on me. What I have been doing is wearing a 1 shade darker (my summer color), neutral base (the Laneige awesomest cover cushion), and wearing neutral tending to warm colors (like neutral khaki which looks warm without actually being warm).
The lipstick is quite simple, and when it comes to the quality of anything (product, brush, etc) I only have to point out it makes me sad that such an expensive lippie comes in a plastic package, it kind of makes it look cheap (also environment people, you’re expensive use glass, just saying).
The brush tip doesn’t clean very well on the package so you may want to put an extra effort on that, or apply with another brush or cotton swab instead. Other than that, love the design and the shape of the brush is super friendly for application.
There is a smell that is sweet and very gentle, and in my opinion quite pleasant!
You can see here there is nothing neutral here, it’s the warmest color in the world, warmer than the sun, warmer than blue (see what I did there). Enough complaining.
It’s a super soft cream, it gets into each and every wrinkle while being equally distributed – it’s amazing to say the least. I’m a person who has an obvious preference for MAC lip products, and this one is as good as those. It’s also almost the same price, depending on the country you live in.
If you don’t apply too much product it’s really easy to control, and the colors are so pigmented you can apply a thin layer and be done with it. You can see, there is no need to apply a second layer. It’s so easy to control you can also use it as a blush.
It takes an incredibly long time to settle, which is why I keep calling it a lipstick.
After application and for around 1h it looks glossy and moist, then it becomes true velvet – both in looks and feel. When I wear this lippie I need to apply very little lip balm during the day, and in very small amounts, because this is a truly moisturizing lipstick. See why I can’t dislike it even though I hate the color?
As I mentioned before, the color gets deep into the wrinkles and folds and yet distributes evenly.
Because of my horrible skin tone to lipstick matching I can only wear it as a semi-gradation, but with this color intensity I’m guessing the right color looks good with full lips too. How is semi-gradation different from full lips? It gradates only in the edge of the lips, keeping the most of the lipstick color and allowing for my natural color to show in the edges (balancing out the overall cold to warm look).
The transfer is always present, this product never really dries. But it’s not as big as The Saem’s lip paint, for example.
When I say there is residue after cleaning with a tissue I mean gently wiping my lips, if I scrub them clean 95% of the lipstick is gone – which is why I keep calling it a lipstick and not a tint.
If you have tried high pigment MAC lippies (like Ruby Woo and Morange) you know what I mean. And after oil cleansing there is nothing left (tints tend to leave a stain a little more permanent).
So do I recommend it? A thousand times yes! But double, triple check the colors before you purchase it. Best formula I have ever tried in a Korean brand, but also most deceiving official swatch photos ever.
