Etude House 3 Minutes Care Pack in Shower Review:
Etude House actually released this 3-minute line last year!! It’s based on the famous Ottogi 3-minute food series/range, which is a really cool and cute idea in my opinion. They came out with a range of 3 min sheet masks (30 in a pack), this wash off mask and two types of sheet masks. One of the sheet masks – the 3 minutes Turmeric one was reviewed by Ana B.
I was especially interested in the wash off mask because well I haven’t tried too many wash off masks and they seem like a great idea for the shower. The fact that it’s “3 minutes” means it should be easy to wash off and great for lazy people like me. It also contains calendula flower petals and turmeric, but more importantly to me was the fact that it was designed to be used in the shower. Since I have dry skin – I really avoid getting my face wet in the shower, until near the end because otherwise my skin gets irritated and dry. So, to me this mask looked really appealing and I hoped it would be one that washed off easily, as well as providing the boost of much needed moisture for my skin. Shall we see how well this wash off mask worked for me?

Etude House 3 Minutes Care Pack in Shower Review:
Etude House’s 3 min wash off pack, comes conveniently packaged in a plastic squeeze tube. For a 3 min product, this packaging is perfect. You don’t need to spend any time unscrewing jars and using a spatula to scoop out the mask. Instead you can directly squeeze it onto your fingertip and apply it to all areas of your face that need it.
It’s hygienic and very convenient and also fast and easy to use this mask. The packaging to me is absolutely perfect, for a wash off mask. I wish more came in a tube like this, because fiddling around with spatulas usually puts me off using a wash off mask.
The mask itself is not that thick or heavy, instead it feels quite light and it spreads quite easily across your skin. The mask is lighter and less sticky than Etude House’s Honey Cera wrapping mask (which is very sticky!). It is almost clear, with a slight yellowish tint and there are some calendula petal pieces in it. Although, unfortunately none came out when I took the photos for the swatches. It does have a mild floral scent, but it doesn’t really bother me and doesn’t seem that strong to me.
It does have quite a short ingredient list too, with glycerin, a humectant right near the top. It also has two solvents (methylpropanediol and propanediol) which help the skin to absorb products. To me this sounds like a good thing in a wash off mask, as we want the skin to take in as much of the moisturizing properties, right? I mean it’s only staying on our skin for a short period of time, so the solvents should help to moisturize our skin.
Betaine is another humectant and is also used to prevent irritation in skin care products. The wash off mask also contains calendula flower petals. Having a quick look on google tells me that calendula is anti-septic, anti-bacterial and anti-viral. It can also be used to prevent dermatitis, and is an emollient, meaning it is good for dry skin. It can also be used on scars and is traditionally used for wound healing.
The inclusion of calendula flowers makes it sound like this mask would be a very effective soothing mask for dry and sensitive skin. The mask also contains some turmeric which is an anti-oxidant and also contains some anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric also works in small concentrations, so you don’t need a lot of it to see benefits to your skin.
Now for the mask itself, I actually bought it last year but never got around to trying it until the end of January (this year). I was quite lazy with wash off masks, the idea appealed but mostly I forgot to use them. But this year, my skin was suffering quite a bit and I decided to use wash off masks more frequently.
One of the main reasons is that with dry skin, I find the shower water dries my skin out and makes it turn quite red. And the addition of chlorine to our water (was added last year), only irritated my skin even more. Usually I would shower and not wet my face until the last few seconds I was in the shower.
Which was fine, but I hoped by adding a wash off mask it would help to moisturize my skin even more. In January I started using this wash off mask every morning when I showered. Naturally, I would apply the mask and then get into the shower. I would avoid wetting my face until I was ready to wash off the mask. Luckily, it washes off quite easily, and I can feel a difference in my skin. It feels so much softer after using the mask.
I was most nervous about using the mask when I washed my hair. Because my face gets wet when I wash my hair, so I worried the mask would be gone before I was finished washing my hair. But the gel is thick enough, that if it gets wet it doesn’t drip into your eyes or wash off. So even when washing my hair, the mask actually stays on my face until I’m ready to wash it off.
Personally, I find this mask so convenient and easy to use that I’ve used it virtually everyday since the end of January. It doesn’t irritate my eyes and while it’s not as moisturizing as the honey cera mask, it still makes my skin less irritated (by the water) and more moisturized than if I didn’t use it.
I don’t have any wounds on my face, so I can’t say whether it helps with wound healing, but my skin has actually been looking much better when I use this mask every day (and when I sheet mask often). On its own it isn’t as effective as using sheet masks, but it still does provide a small boost of moisture to the skin.
I think this mask is gentle enough to be used every day, and is a great addition for anyone with dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin. I plan to repurchase this mask, because I think it’s definitely very useful in helping to keep my skin calm and not irritated by water. Plus, it is so easy to use each day in the shower, that it’s become a part of my daily routine.
It probably is light enough for all skin types, but works best for those with dehydrated, dry or sensitive skin. Because the calendula flower is anti-bacterial, anti-septic and anti-viral, I think it would probably work for people with fungal acne and acne/oily skin. Personally, I think this is a great product that would work for everyone!
