Etude House 98% Watermelon Soothing Gel Review:
As a person who lives in tropical country, heated skin is usually being a terrible problem especially in summer. If you are Korean skincare lovers, you probably know that aloe vera soothing gel is very popular since last year and I thought that soothing gel is the best product to solve heated skin problem. But for my oily-combination skin, I felt that most of aloe vera soothing gel products were too moist, some of them even made my skin feel sticky and greasy especially on my T-zone. So I browsed through online shops and found this product. It is soothing gel type too but made from different main ingredient. Instead of aloe extract, it is made from watermelon extract. Yes, I am talking about 98% Watermelon Soothing Gel from Etude House!
I’ve ever read that watermelon is a great ingredient for acne prone skin. The extract of watermelon helps to heal acnes, smooth the skin texture and give a fresh skin without feeling greasy since it has powerful antioxidant rich in Vitamin A & C and Lycopene which are good to regenerate skin too.
Etude claimed that this soothing gel is made with 98% watermelon extract from Yangpyeong. I don’t know where Yangpyeong is. Usually I notice that most of Korean skincare made with natural ingredients from Jeju island, LOL. However, I have a high expectation with this product. Now let’s check how 98% Watermelon Soothing Gel works on my skin!
– This moisturizing soothing gel makes tired, heated skin feel refreshed, smooth, and moisturized with its ingredient of watermelon from Yangpyeong.

Etude House 98% Watermelon Soothing Gel Review:
Though it doesn’t come in princess-y packaging like Etude House usually do, but I feel that it still looks pretty and catchy. With watermelon prints and green cap, it brings yummy and fresh vibes especially in summer. The plastic bottle is transparent so we can look at the content inside.
The bottle is bulky in reasonable case, it contains 250 ml of gel which is pretty a lot. As its big size, you may dislike to bring this product for travelling because it will spend a lot of space in your bag. But if you still want to, I am pretty sure that the product will be safe inside bag since the flip-top cap is sturdy enough.
Once opened the cap I could sniff its refreshing scents. I do really love the scent so much. Sweet like watermelon and super fresh. I could feel relaxed by only smelling the scent. I think this is one of the best scents among other skincare I have tried.
So, like the name of itself, it has gel texture which is not runny but not that thick too. The gel is transparent. Once rubbed on skin, the gel became more watery and lighter. I also feel that it gives fresh sensation on my skin. It is not cold sensation, just fresh.
The problem is it took pretty a long to absorb perfectly. After applied, it will be kinda sticky which I really don’t like. About 10-15 minutes, after complete absorption, it became more comfortable.
I like the result after it absorbed perfectly into my skin. Yes, this 98% Watermelon Soothing Gel hydrates my skin and leaves smooth feeling too. It refresh my heated and tired skin and also reduce some redness on my face. Another good point that I noticed is it gives moist effect without make my face oily or look too shiny. This product is a great option for us who have oily-combination skin.
I was in big fat love with this product but then… it caused pimples on my face, especially on cheeks and forehead. First, I thought that my skin needs time to adapt with new product. But it didn’t get better and the pimples getting a lot. Very bad. So I stopped applying the product on my face.
Thank God, this product is a kind of all around gel that can be used from head to toe. So, rather than throw it away, I use the gel for smoothing my body and nails. I am super lazy to apply sticky body lotion during summer, so I use this product since it has better scent and texture than my usual lotion has.
I got better result on my body rather than my face. The gel absorbed quicker (I guess, I applied too much amount when used it on my face). It gives moist result, not sticky and soothes my skin too. I love how it feels so light and fresh on my skin compared with my daily body lotion.
It is a perfect body care during hot days in my country. I even apply 98% Watermelon Soothing Gel around my cuticles as nail essence. Actually we could apply this gel to our hair too, but I haven’t tried it yet.
I know it’s disappointed since it caused pimples on my face (so I can’t use it as DIY sheet mask or whatsoever apply it on my face) but I don’t regret buying this product. I do love using it on my body to get fresh yet moist skin.
Since I couldn’t find other brands that have the same soothing gel with watermelon ingredients, I am pretty sure will repurchase it. I adore its scent and how affordable the price for 250 ml all around soothing gel.
