[REVIEW] Etude House Happy With Piglet Jelly Mousse Blusher RD301

Etude House Happy With Piglet Jelly Mousse Blusher RD301 Review:

You may have heard about it, but recently Etude House did a collaboration with Disney and released a collection with Winnie the Pooh as its main theme but as it’s a golden pig this year (based on Chinese zodiac), they choose Piglet as the main character. I love Winnie the Pooh, it’s a huge part of my childhood so I’m beyond excited when I saw the collection can be ordered through my local seller already!

In the collection, they have primers, eyeshadows, cushion case, Piglet lip tint, blusher, and several other items like skincare and beauty tools. Honestly I want to get it all just because of the packaging because it’s too cute but then I remember that most of these products are already available in regular packaging and I own some already.

I want to get the tint but most of reviews I read are saying that it can be too drying if you have dry lips. The shade selection doesn’t impress me as well so I decided to get the Jelly blusher instead. The blusher is a cream which I rarely use but the bright red shade picked my interest. Because I have oily skin, I’m afraid the blush won’t perform well but it is said that the cream blush will turn into powder once it set on the skin so I think I have to try it myself to see its quality.

Etude House Happy With Piglet Jelly Mousse Blusher RD301 Review:

I have to say that Etude House is one of the brands who make a really cute packaging. They have 5 lid types, 4 with Piglet’s head and one with Pooh’s head. I think it’s a really good way to make Piglet’s fans to collect them all (and I kinda want too) as each shade has different design of Piglet. Because I choose the red shade, I got the Pooh one but I really want to get the other shades just for collection.

The size is tiny for a blush and because it’s made from plastic, it can feel a bit slippery when you hold it. The lid is a twist type so you have to be careful or the blusher can fall down. Actually even if it falls down, the blush itself will be safe but the packaging can crack.

They have 5 shades and 4 of them are natural shades such as pink, coral, and peach. They all look pretty but I want to try something different from what I used to so I got RD301, a true bright red shade. I have fair skin tone and this type of shade can look too much on me but I’m too curious to try because I never tried a red blush before.

On Etude’s official swatch picture, it looks really red and a little bit intimidating but in real life, the color isn’t that bright, actually it’s more tone down than I expected. It’s more like a warm calm red color that can be used by every skin tone. On me, the red looks really warm and leans more on the coral side. I like it though because it’s wearable and give my cheeks a natural flush.

When you open the lid, you will see the blusher is just like other cream blush but when I touch it, it doesn’t spread or feels sticky like other cream blushers. I think the texture feels like a creamy powder hence they name it as a Jelly Mousse, means it’s a cream blush but have finish like a powder.

When I touch the blush with my finger but it doesn’t leave fingerprint at all, instead it feels hard just like a powder blush.

For this type of blusher, the application can be tricky. Etude says to apply the blush using their blusher brush specially designed for it but judging from the shape itself, I can say that it won’t be the perfect tool for applying this blush. Then I try using 3 different way (a brush, a sponge, and a puff) to compare which one will give the best result.

As you can see, application with a brush gives the most pigmented result but on the cheeks it can be a little bit patchy if you didn’t blend it properly. With a puff and a sponge, you will get less pigmentation but to be honest I prefer using a puff because it really gives me a natural finish.

It helps the blush to blend more even and I didn’t see any patchiness at all. If you love natural flush, a puff will be the best tool to apply this blusher.

What I didn’t expect the most is how it lasts really well on my cheeks, even longer than my any other powder blusher! I bought this blush without expectation for its lasting power but turn out it’s better than I thought. My cheeks area is oily so I’m glad the blush holds really well against my sebum and didn’t break apart.

I love this blusher so much and I can see myself getting other shades in the future. The price is pretty affordable yet the quality can beat some blushers from more high-end brands. I would recommend it if you have combination to oily skin.
