Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer PK001 Rose Pink Review:
Finally! I got the newest lip product from Etude House. It’s Matte Chic Lip Lacquer! I was crazily excited when a local seller brought this chic baby to me. Seriously this lip lacquer is the hottest product since it was released last month and it deserves all the love. The reviews on Youtube are so tempting. They said it’s matte, transferproof, smudgeproof and lasts soo long. Aside from that, the lip lacquer is the first collaboration of Etude House with their new models, Red Velvet!
Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer comes in 12 shades and 5 of them are used by Red Velvet members. Etude House also released a special kit for this lip lacquer in Red Velvet edition. But sorry guys, I didn’t pick one of the 5 main colors since I wanted to have a shade that daily wearable in my liking. Besides, I fall in love with this shade indeed. It’s PK001 – Rose Pink. Now let’s see, is it worth the hype?
Long-lasting lip locker keeps the lips matte and less smudged or smeared as rich color pigment is fixed fast upon application.

Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer PK001 Rose Pink Review:
I LOVE the packaging! Usually Etude House has cute and girly packaging, sometimes it may look too childish for some people. But this lip lacquer is designed in a very chic and elegant touch. It looks a bit different from usual Etude House packaging, but it is stunning. Etude House really step it up.
So, the outer box contains full information about the product in Hangul and English. Meanwhile the lipstick tube comes in a very sleek design. It looks like a frosty glass but actually it is made from plastic with a doff surface. It’s very sturdy and travel friendly too. I do adore the packaging for real. So chic!
The cap which is used as the handle of the applicator is pretty long and so comfortable in my hand. The doff surface is not slippery too. The wand is sturdy and long, no wonder since the tube is also tall which is 11.5 cm. And the brush itself is unique. It is curvy, like “S” shape and skinny (the brush shape is similar with my (3CE Tattoo Lip Tint). The curves make the application easier and comfortable and the skinny size helps to get a neat result.
This lip lacquer has a light vanilla scent. It is not as strong as 3CE Velvet Lip Tint or Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb, this one is softer. I also sniff a little chemical scent on it. But it’s not a big problem since the vanilla scent is more noticeable, thus I do not want to give a further complaint.
Before I bring you to the texture and formula, let’s talk about the color first. Honestly, the 5 main colors look very pretty (those colors look even prettier because Red Velvet members wear them, ha!). At first, I picked the shade Wendy Brown since I thought that shade is wearable for daily but I changed my mind and went to PK001 – Rose Pink after watching some swatches on Youtube.
Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer in PK001 Rose Pink is one of the MLBB shades in this collection and it is so pretty and wearable for daily look. The color is raspberry rose and I guess it will look good on any skin tone. This shade is similar with Wendy Brown but I think Rose Pink is more pinkish. That’s why I picked this shade instead of Wendy Brown, because I love pink lips.
This lip lacquer has a very nice texture. It is soft, glides smoothly, easy to blend and not clumpy at all. The consistency itself is sooo light and creamy, like a lip mousse but more watery. This is totally something that everybody would like. Not sticky nor heavy on lips. The pigmentation is also amazing. One swipe is enough to give a vivid color and perfect coverage for my natural lips color.
It doesn’t need a long time to be matte on my lips, just 2 minutes (or less?). It’s quick, isn’t it? Aaannd… the result is dead matte! It reminds me of Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. They have similar matte result. When set perfectly on lips, it creates such a very very thin and MATTE outer shell on lips. Once it dries up, it becomes transferproof and smudgeproof. And since this product is weightless, it doesn’t feel nor look heavy at all.
The matte result is so smooth and I don’t feel any tight sensation while wearing it. But it cracks after few hours on my lips. I guess it’s because my lips are wrinkly though. However though it’s transferproof and smudgeproof but it can’t stay forever on lips. Well, if you do not eat and drink too much, it can last like forever. But the product wears off especially on the inner part of lips after eating my oily-lunch. It creates flaky ring shape there and looks ugly. And it doesn’t leave any stain and just shows my natural lip color after disappearing.
Another problem is I can’t stop my fingers peeling off the flakes (it’s really a bad habit) or otherwise, I will eat the flakes (haha, I think I don’t have a good manner wearing a dead matte lip product). However, I need to re-apply this lip lacquer so I will not look like a girl with ugly lips. Fortunately, this product is truly lightweight, so it’s okay to add another layer.
Thankfully, though it adheres strongly on lips, it can be removed pretty easily with makeup remover. I do not need to worry about the residue at the end of the day. And surprisingly it doesn’t make my lips drier though it has a dead matte result.
Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer is different from other Korean matte lip products I’ve ever tried that usually have a velvety matte finish, this one is M.A.T.T.E! And just for that, I know this product is not for me because I tend to love glowy or at least semi-matte lips. But this is a great product for matte lip lovers. You should try it out if you love a truly matte lipstick in a light formula (and also if you are a fan of Red Velvet).
