[REVIEW] Etude House Oh M’eye Line Eye Liner 01 Black

Etude House Oh M’eye Line Eye Liner Review:

Do you know the feeling of being scared a company will ever discontinue producing your holy grail? If you don’t – maybe you should try the Etude House Oh m’Eye Line Eyeliner.

This product has been a favorite of mine since I first tried it a couple years ago and I would like to spread the love – also in a selfish hope that the more people fall in love with it, the less likely it will ever be on Etude House’s radar to get cut in order to make room for new products.

I stumbled on this one rather unwillingly. I had just come back from my exchange year in Japan, where I discovered the Canmake eyeliner and found that it was performing better than any I had ever used before. Sadly when I had to return to my home country and ran out of it, there was no way to order it online. Thus my quest for an equally good liner started – and I stumbled upon Etude House eyeliner which ended up being even better than the one by Canmake.

Claims:

On the Etude House website this eyeliner is described as ‘highly pigmented, smudge-proof liquid liner that goes on smoothly for precise application and creates strong, beautiful lines that last.’

Etude House Oh M’eye Line Eye Liner Review:

This Eyeliner caught my attention mainly due to the packaging at first. It reminds me of an oriental flask with its cutely shaped body. When you open it, the tip of the eyeliner is a regular brush tip with fine hairs that allow either a thin or thick line according to your preference. It’s not overly flimsy so you have good control over the line when applying the product.

It comes in five different shades and I am reviewing 01 Oh my black.

The Eyeliner itself is a good combination between thick and thin in texture – not watery but also not too thick. It is intensely black and provides good coverage in just a single layer. You don’t have to work hard and go over the same line several times, it’s just the right kind of black on the first swipe. It dries down to a matte black.

The best thing about this eyeliner though is the performance on the eye. I have oily to combination skin so I have had some eyeliners in the past that had smudged, but this one stays put once it dries down. And on top of that I suffer from very watery eyes, especially during cold weather in winter.

However this eyeliner does not smudge at all! I would dare say it’s close to being waterproof unless you start rubbing the area. If you just wipe your tears carefully it does not disturb the liner at all.

The only downside of this is that it’s kind of hard to remove since it has such good staying power. I would recommend a cotton pad soaked in a good eye-makeup remover, put it on your eye and let it soak for a bit before gently removing the eyeliner. It does not dissolve but comes off in chunks which you actually have to peel off, so you have to be a bit careful with that. As long as you have a good remover this should not be too big of a problem.

Overall I love this product not only because of the cute packaging or the brush tip – my favorite type of eyeliner – but especially because of the longlasting formula that withstands oil and wetness and lasts all day. Would I repurchase? Definitely!

An additional plus is that this is really affordable. Now let’s spread the love so that Etude House never considers taking this great product out of their line!
