[REVIEW+SWATCHES] 2019 NEW Etude House Powder Rouge Tint RD301 Nude Red

Etude House Powder Rouge Tint RD301 Nude Red was purchased by Cosmeperks.

I saw the new Powder Rouge Tint when I watched Pony’s (Korean beauty influencer) makeup tutorial. If I remember correctly, she used a red shade and she said that the tint is good in quality. After that, I checked Etude’s official website but it wasn’t sold yet at that moment so I think it would be an exclusive release where you can buy it on the store only and not online.

But suddenly Nigama offered me to try the tint! Actually me and Etude House lip tints have a hit and miss relationship, sometimes I really love their tint and on another day I dislike their other tints so I thought it would be fun to see if this time I will love their new release or not.

If you are a fan of red lips, I think this release will be your favorite one. The Powder Rouge Tint is available in 8 shades and all of them are reds with 4 cool undertones and the other 4 with neutral and warm undertone. The swatch itself scared me a bit because I’m not the type who will wear deep and bold shades but since Pony said it can be used thinly and the color looked gorgeous on her, I’m excited to try it.

Etude House Powder Rouge Tint RD301 Nude Red Review:

The Powder Rouge Tint only has 2.7g of product which is a small amount if compared with other  affordable lip tints but the packaging is so tall. The bottle has a nice velvet feeling and it’s one of the more ‘expensive’ packaging from Etude House to be honest.

The last time I saw a packaging like this is from 3CE (and we all know that 3CE is way more expensive than Etude House) so I guess I can understand why this new lip tint is a tad bit higher in price compared to their old releases.

This tint has one of the most simple doe-foot applicators because it has no weird or unique shapes and the bristles are short. Unfortunately because of the tint texture which is thick and a little bit sticky, the applicator doesn’t help in applying the tint nicely.

It doesn’t spread the tint evenly and I have to go back and forth to make sure my lips won’t look patchy or dry. It may be not the applicator fault but with this kind of formula, I hope Etude will make a more supportive applicator to achieve a perfect application.

I’m not sure if Etude released this tint for special collection or what but I’m guessing they may be wanting to make a ‘red edition’ because out of 8 shades they have, all of them are in red colors. They have different undertones but still, the shade range is too red for me. The safest shade in my opinion is the lightest shade, RD301 Nude Red which I choose to try.

Etude House describes this shade as a cool summer mute tone and I have to disagree with them. While RD301 is a true mute red shade, I don’t think it’s a ‘cool summer’ shade. It’s more on the ‘cool autumn’ category for me since the shade has a hint of plum/mauve tone in it.

To be fair, my skin is very fair with neutral to yellow undertone so maybe that’s why the shade looks so different with what Etude describes on their official swatch picture.

Maybe on people with a true cool tone the shade will look exactly like what they are saying. Definitely my favorite color though because I prefer lighter, neutral shade for my lips. The cool tone in it also makes my teeth look more yellow so I prefer to apply the tint thinly.

I have to say that I don’t like the texture at all. It’s very pigmented but it’s super thick and a little bit sticky thus it’s hard to apply evenly on the lips. It also hard to blend so if you want to make a gradient lips, you will need a good concealer and a lip brush to apply the tint neatly.

If you have very severe dryness like I do, with this tint it will look more obvious but all the negative points aside, I’m surprised that it’s actually feels quite lightweight on the lips.

It doesn’t last long on the lips especially after eating oily foods. The weird thing I noticed was how the tint bleeds out of the lip line so it makes my lips look like a mess and I don’t think I’ve ever tried a lip tint that bleeds like this.

To avoid this, you can use a lip liner in similar shade to the tint. With a lip liner, it helps the tint to stay in place and not bleeding everywhere. But not only it bleeds, it also transfer almost everywhere even though it has a velvet finish.

Usually with a velvet lips, it needs a few minutes to set and after it sets, it won’t transfer that much but with this tint, it sets immediately but it still transfers anywhere or anything my lips touch.

After eating oily foods the tint will fade immediately but it will fade unevenly. Most lip tints will fade start from the inner lips but with this tint, it fades on random areas so my lips will look blotchy. I have to reapply every time after I eat but before that, I have to make sure that my lips are tint-free or it will get patchy and the dry areas will look more obvious than ever.

I’m sorry to say this but seems like this tint won’t be on my recommended list of product to try. It’s too thick and it’s hard to apply because of the stickiness. It also doesn’t last long and bleeds everywhere.

For a lip tint from Etude House I think it’s a bit overpriced for just a 2.7g of product so I won’t recommend it. But if you really want to try it, please do! Every products act differently with different people so who knows it will perform better on you.
