[REVIEW] Etude House Precious Mineral Beautifying Block Cream Moist SPF50+ PA+++ Vanilla

Etude House Precious Mineral Beautifying Block Cream Moist SPF50+ PA+++ Vanilla Review:

When Etude House came out with a new range of BB creams in different shades than their usual ones, I just knew that I had try to them. Especially when I saw that they had ones with a pink base rather than just the usual yellow one. The previous BB creams from Etude House worked out well for me, only the undertone and shade didn’t match, but they lasted well on my skin. So, I finally thought that I would find the perfect BB cream when Etude House launched these.

This line of BB creams comes in 5 different shades which have some pink based, yellow based and even neutral based colors, so that they should work better for more people’s skin tones, hopefully.

Etude House Precious Mineral Beautifying Block Cream Moist SPF50+ PA+++ Vanilla Review:

Because my face reddens easily, I prefer to wear a BB cream almost every day. I often have several different BB creams open at the same time, and I use each one depending on the weather or what I’m doing that day. It seems a bit extreme I guess, but I’ve found that some BB creams work better for different purposes.

When I opened this new BB cream from Etude House, I had high hopes for it, and hoped that it would be an upgraded version of their Precious Mineral Bright Fit BB cream. That one was my favorite, because it lasted so well for the whole day, but the tone and shade was too dark for me.

Etude House Precious Mineral Beautifying Block Cream Moist SPF50+PA+++ Vanilla Review

The moist BB cream I bought in the lightest shade, vanilla, which also has a pink undertone supposedly. But to be honest it still looks a little yellow to me, but that’s okay because I think it’s the one that matches my skin the best in terms of color.

It might be slightly too light for my face, but it matches perfectly with my neck, which is how I prefer to match BB creams. After all my face is always red anyway, so it’s not easy to find a BB cream to match my skin.

The BB cream comes in a slender tube, that you squeeze to get the product out. I haven’t noticed nor do I expect it to be scented. It does contain fragrance however, but I think when you’re using a small amount of BB cream you won’t particularly notice any kind of scent, or at least I don’t. It is quite thin and wet looking, but it doesn’t run that much and is more sticky than watery, at least in my opinion.

It feels quite sticky to apply it too, but honestly, I find the formula a little hard to work with. I’m not sure if it’s my skin or the climate, but it is a bit hard to use. At first if you apply it with a cushion puff, I feel like my skin looks absolutely perfect with this bb cream, like it covers all of the imperfections and just looks quite natural, great and with a light glow.

However, I find that after thirty minutes it feels too sticky and I always have to use powder, to get rid of the oily sticky feeling. It’s funny, my skin is dry, and doesn’t produce much oil, but certain products make my face really oily. I found that some sunscreens also get oily on my face after thirty minutes, and I’m not sure if it’s the formula reacting with my routine, or just the formula itself.

But that’s how this BB cream feels to me, maybe it feels moisturizing and good to others, but to me it feels unpleasant so I always end up putting powder. But ultimately this BB cream still feels a little sticky for the rest of the day.

Coverage wise it’s a light BB cream, I always use a primer under it and that’s fine. It does cover most of my redness without a primer, but I find that it doesn’t last that well. It’s meant to last 24 hours, but I find that after five or six hours it kind of settles into my fine lines, and accentuates dry patches.

And if I try to touch it up, instead of touching it up, the BB cream gets picked up by the puff and removed from my face. I’m not sure why but for me this BB cream is impossible to touch up, or it is for me at least.

The actual tone and shade matches my skin perfectly, but I find that the formula itself doesn’t work that great for me. I tried it in winter, thinking that moist would be perfect during the cool season, but it didn’t work any better for me.

In summer it also comes off if you sweat, which I think is normal for most bb creams, but the old bright fit wouldn’t come off that easily, and it also lasted all day without getting patchy or settling into fine lines.

I’ve been using this BB cream for at least 6 months, not every day but several times a week and with different primers, and without to see how well it works. Until I’m not very satisfied with this BB cream, I think it’s too moist, even for someone with dry skin.

The only thing I like about it is the color, which actually matches my skin tone, but other than that I don’t think it’s that great. I have no plan to repurchase the moist version, and instead will try the matte one out to see if it’s any better than the moist. I think this BB cream would only suit people with very dry skin, or those who really like their skin to look dewy.
