[REVIEW] Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm aka Genie Multi Balm

Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm was purchased by Cosmeperks.

About two months ago one of our lovely brand released two multifunction products to resolve any skin problem. New from Etude House, Pure Jelly Multi Balm and Pure Drop Multi Oil. These products supposed to be one solution products that can be used from crown to toe to give skin instant moisturizing effect and keep it healthy without feeling sticky. They could be mixed with other products or used alone as well. Sounds very interesting, doesn’t it? One product in your hand to resolve all skin problems, like a genie. “Tell Genie Multi Balm about your skin problems.” Haha!

At first, I was interested with Pure Drop Multi Oil. It should be good to be a topper for my lipstick or lip tint. But after watching a review from Korean Youtuber, I thought Pure Jelly Multi Balm is more recommended and easier to use. I also found that the Multi Balm could be used to fix our eye makeup. So, I turned around and chose the Multi Balm (sorry, Multi Oil!)

Well, now let’s jump to the review and find how genie Multi Balm grant my wish!

– Omnipotent jelly texture softly applies on skin, provides instant moisturizing effect, healthy radiance and soothing effect to dry, flaky skin.

– Anytime, anywhere as needed! Easy mixing with other products and great portability provide convenient care for skin problems.

–  Light feel, refreshing moisture and nourishment. The light moisture film keeps skin moisturized as it refreshingly applied on skin without making skin feel heavy or sticky.

Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm Review:

Before starting the review, let me tell you my own true story. So, a day after placing my order for Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm, I got my lips in a super terrible condition. It was suddenly dry, itchy and hurt everytime I smile or talk. I thought my lips got an allergy.

Well, I got a bunch of lip creams from local brands lately and was busy trying them out. I guessed one of them irritated my lips. Believe it or not, I was like the luckiest girl who got this multi balm in a perfect timing, hehe.

Okay, stop wasting time and move to the packaging. Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm comes in a sandy-brown box that looks so genie. The information of the product is written completely on the box in Korean alphabets. But the ingredients list and English translation is written clearly as well.

Once opened the box, we will find the multi balm housed in a silver pot. The size is not too big but not that small too. It is also designed in a classy look and less cute but not bad, though.

I love that Etude House added a film to protect the balm inside and keep it more hygienic. Unfortunately it doesn’t come with spatula, thus you have to make sure that your finger is clean when touch the balm. The best way, of course use your own spatula or cotton swab to take the balm out.

Once I open the balm, I smell a soft lime soda scent. I had smelled too many products with sweet candy or vanilla scents and really liked that this balm was different. The scent is good and refreshing without making me dizzy.

Pure Jelly Multi Balm has white cream with super light pink hue. It will be transparent once blended on skin. The balm itself has soft, a little bit thick creamy-jelly texture. The texture is similar with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. The balm looks sticky in its pot, but it actually doesn’t. It absorbs pretty quickly and not heavy at all.

I must say that I really love multifunction product like this. It is travel friendly and so affordable. All in one, who can refuse a product like this? But honestly I avoid using it on some areas of my face because my skin is very sensitive and I have oily-combi skin.

This balm feels too sticky on my T-zone. Meanwhile it works very well for other parts (like lips, nails, hair and body).

I like to apply a small amount of this product to tame my frizzy hair. So far it doesn’t cause hair-fall problem. This balm also smoothens my fingernail cuticles (but I am too lazy to apply it continuously, LOL).

I apply it on my knees, elbows and heels as well. Since it has lightweight texture and absorbs quickly, it doesn’t feel sticky at all. But make sure to apply it only in a proper amount.

Back to my irritated lips. I was a crying baby and afraid since my lower lip felt very itchy, hurt and started to be numb. It may not captured clearly on the pictures, but in real it felt very dry, rough and became more reddish. It was also a bit swollen when I woke up in the morning.

Luckily, I already got this multi balm on my hand. So I stopped using any lip product immediately and asked genie Multi Balm to cure my lips, LOL.

This multi balm is very soft and glides smoothly. It felt a bit hurt when touched the irritated areas of my lips but after seconds it got much better. It calmed down my irritated lips and made it instantly smooth and moist. By the way, I accidentally licked my lips after applying this product and it tasted a little bit bitter-sour but still tolerable.

The moist effect just lasts for about 2 hours on my lips (it should be longer if my lips were in its normal condition). But I don’t mind to re-apply the balm since it doesn’t feel heavy on lips. I used to apply the balm every 2-3 hours to keep my lips moist and soothe the redness.

I have to say that I am truly impressed with the result. It took only 3 days to heal the irritation and on the fourth day my lips got much better. It still felt a bit dry but it’s not itchy or hurt anymore, the redness also disappered.

Please notice, I only used Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm and stopped using any other lip product during the recovery days (even I stopped using my favorite Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for a while). So, everything I got was pure result from this multi balm.

Ah, in case you have the same problem with me (sensitive lips or got irritation from any lip product), here are some tips for you:

– Stop using any lipstick, lip tint, lip cream or other lip makeup once you recognised symptoms of an allergic reaction on your lips

– Do not scratch or rub your lips, even if it feels crazily itchy

– Use ice cube or aloe vera gel to reduce swollen lips

– Do not bite or lick your lips. Saliva will make your lips even drier

– Drink a lot of water and eat fruits and vegetables

– Apply lip balm (in this case I used Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm) to keep your lips moist. I do not suggest to apply this balm in a thick amount. It is better if you apply it regularly, properly and evenly.

Other reason why I chose Pure Jelly Multi Balm rather than the Multi Oil was I found that a Korean YouTuber said this balm also could be used to fix eye makeup such as smudged eyeshadow or eyeliner. And yes, it’s true!

Applying a little amount of this multi balm will help us to remove smudged eye makeup easier and also give a moist effect on skin. You can apply BB cushion or concealer afterwards and your makeup successfully fixed!

Inspired from that way, I tried to clean up my lip makeup with this multi balm and I really loved with the result. You can look on the pictures. I was using matte lip cream then applied the multi balm to clean it up. Once I rubbed gently, the matte lip cream melted easily due to the balm’s creamy texture.

I wiped off the residue with a tissue and my lips cleansed perfectly. What’s even more great? It won’t dry up my lips! Well, I left my lip makeup remover and leaned on this product now.

It is about a week since the tragedy and I feel much better right now. I can wear my lipstick again though I am being more picky. But at least, I do not need to cancel some orders of  holiday edition lip products.

You know, it’s too good to be missed because a lot of brands release their limited holiday collections this month. I hope you will stay tune on Cosmeperks since I will come back to share some holiday edition products very soon, haha!

After all, I have to end up my review now (it seems to be too long *sorry*) In conclusion, I am crazily falling in love with this product for sure. I did not expect more at first but genie Multi Balm truly came out and granted my wish, hhaha!

I recommend Etude House Pure Jelly Multi Balm for you. It can be used for any skin type, anytime and anywhere from hair to toe. It is also very affordable since you have to buy only one product to solve all skin problems.

  1. I really wanted to buy this products hut I didn’t because it basically has the same functionalities as vaseline (even the fixing eye makeup and cleansing makeup parts) and in the end it’s still like vaseline I don’t think I’ll try it since vaseline (the good, branded one) is cheaper and basically does the same things.s
I am however very happy for such a detailed review! Because I was really curious about this product and I love the packaging being so classic and might get it because of it to later use, as you said, to travel and all

    • Aside from its packaging, I will choose this product than Vaseline because it works more gently on my eyes area (I think vaseline feels a slight thicker when I applied it on my eyes area). But I agree that vaseline is more affordable.
Glad to know that you like my review, Ana:)
