+ It’s a thrilling bubble popping water tint fresh like a soda.

Etude House Soft Drink Tint PP501 Great Grape Review:
Let me lead you through my color choice.
I would instinctively go for the green one, which is a magic color that changes to light purple with your skin pH but the texture is different: it’s like a balm or Vaseline and it never dries. Ever. So of course I went for one of the other 4 colors. The red color is really pretty (Coca Cola fan here) and the orange one reminds me of orange juice, but there is one color here that is different from most colors you find in Korea, so that’s the one I chose! And I must say I have no regrets at all.
Also let me burst the bubble, no matter how much they say it feels like soda popping, they just mean the smell. Which is nice and sweet but not sweet like candy or ice cream – sweet like a refreshing drink!
We should take a moment first to appreciate the design of the cute little butt. Even in these details, K-beauty has come a long way. When I arrived here when the brands were trying to imitate a famous product or design they were so lacking… like in this case they would have made a cylinder with a tube. And look at it now!
Also purely by coincidence, this specific purple tint really looks like the Welchs drinks (I chose green grape for contrast, the purple grape drink is in inverted colors). So I thought I should show you because it makes it that much cuter.
Continuing on the design, the bottom of the bottle inside is round, so it’s easy to scrape the product out when the time comes. The lid even has that small texture, the “vending machine” it comes in has the name of each of the shades correspondingly. And it is just big enough to actually make me want to drink it! But we can’t…
The applicator brush is quite simple, it’s the design that’s in for this season. But why change it if it works? Also, it is easy enough to grip with no accidents.
First photo is after applying two thin layers of tint. It took me a while to take a decent photo (you can see the tint is drying on the corner of my bottom lip). It has beautiful full coverage, like the Innisfree Vivid Creamy Tint. In fact, all of the formula is incredibly similar in every way! Except the smell.
The second photo is after it dried, you can see that on some spots the tint just didn’t cling as much.
The third photo is to show settling, which it has just a very tiny bit on my upper lip wrinkles.
However, these small less nice details don’t show at all when I’m normally talking (or looking at the mirror), the camera just captures them so much stronger.
Here are the closeup swatches of purple!
Left side one layer and right side half with one layer half (top) with two layers, both after drying. It applied wonderfully, I’m not sure why it’s not as even as this on the lips. It looks a little lighter on the hand than on the lips because my lips are pigmented, so the lip color influences the tint color a little.
After drying there is no transfer at all. However, this texture is as they say something between water and jelly, and that means it’s less moisturizing than jelly, but shows imperfections less than water. That being said, the tint almost has no removal whatsoever when I apply Vaseline or lip balm (in stick shape) on top of it. I tested them because I knew I would have to apply some sooner or later. This was after applying Vaseline but after 2h and lunch had passed since the tint application: looks nice, right?
But then all hell broke loose. After that last photo I went to school and was away from home for 6h. At first it was crazy hot, I was sweating through every pore. Then it started raining cats and dogs. After all of that I got home and the tint was like this. All broken and sad…
But no biggie. It’s a jelly tint at heart so it’s easy to wipe the excess of broken tint with a tissue.
After that I applied a gradation.
Now, these tints are incredibly pigmented. Which I love, but if you’re not into strong colors, that gradation on the right is as light as it gets, it’s one very spread layer.
The brand also suggests to mix it with other tints and other lippies, so I also thought I should give you two examples of that. I personally apply the tint before since the tint clings and lipsticks don’t necessarily cling.
So, for the first one I used my favorite magic lipstick (because in effect it should make a similar one to this collection’s green soda) and I got a natural purple gradation. On the second one I used a Matte Chic Lip Laquer that has been reviewed here in so many shades, and applied the tint, the lipstick, then enhanced the tint again. I didn’t do these combinations for the colors, but for you to see how well this lip tint mixes with other formulas, so I hope it was helpful. I do like the second combination though hehe.
I like this tint a lot, I can foresee another summer hit for Etude! I want all of the bright colors, and if you like strong vivid colors this tint may be for you too. I like tints that don’t smudge because I want to apply lip balm on top and it’ll keep the color, but this one is a winner on this specific point.
