[REVIEW] Etude House Universe Dear My Glass Tinting Lips Talk RD305 Stellar Red

Etude House Universe Dear My Glass Tinting Lips Talk RD305 Stellar Red Review:

I don’t know why but I have always been obsessed about the universe. So when Etude House decided to come out with a whole universe-themed collection for their winter limited edition, it was hard not to buy every single item!

After viewing all the products this lipstick was one of two things that stood out to me the most and I decided to order it and try it out myself.

+ Clear & Fresh color with moist texture

+ Melting type tinting lips-talk with glossy texture.

+ Soft and natural color without stimulation of dead skin-cell.

Etude House Universe Dear My Glass Tinting Lips Talk RD305 Stellar Red Review:

This collection comes with five different lipstick colors, whereas only three are actually new colors and two are just repackages of already existing lipsticks. Among these three new shades the two from the glass tinting range stood out to me the most.

One looked like a golden-reddish color and the other like a purple holo-ish one. Since I didn’t expect the purple to be very wearable I chose to get the red one, RD305 Stellar Red.

In the same collection Etude House introducted five new lipstick cases. They already have quite a lot of different existing cases and just as many lipsticks either from the matt or the glass-range. I think it’s a super fun concept that you can mix and match your favorite color with your favorite case.

So if you like a certain color from the universe collection but don’t fancy any of the new cases – or the other way around – you can always grab some from the permanent lineup and create your own style.

This time I decided to get case #31 Space Gala Show. It has a dark blue top and a glittery golden bottom. I was worried the glitter would feel rough or even worse transfer every time you touch it, but thankfully it is sealed in.

When the product arrived my first impression was honestly disappointment, since the color did not match the product photo that Etude House posted online at all. In the product picture it looked like a warm toned red with a golden glow to it. In reality the lipstick is a cool toned purple-ish red with hot pink glitter and a silver-holo metallic finish.

You can judge for yourself from my swatches. It is hard to catch in a photo but you can clearly see the hot pink glitter and none of the golden undertones that were visible in the official picture.

In my opinion Etude House should really improve their product pictures. This is not the first time I felt that the advertised color differs greatly from the actual product, so I should have been prepared. But why even bother taking these pictures if they are just so different?

Once I got over the initial disappointment I found out that fortunately I still like the color, even if it is drastically different from what I expected. It is definitely a unique color that I haven’t seen before on the market. At the same time it is still wearable enough to actually get some use out of it.

The texture of the lipstick is slightly rough because of the glitter. Personally I only noticed that during the application and no longer while wearing the lipstick. Etude House claims this is a melting type of lipstick but I wouldn’t go that far.

It does feel comfortable on the lips though not exactly like it’s melting. This lipstick has the same bubblegum-like scent as all Etude House lipsticks, though not very strong in my opinion.

Since this lipstick is from the glass-range it is not super opaque. It it still decently pigmented and has a metallic finish. However the lipstick is not very longlasting due to the light-weight texture. It is also not transfer proof.

Even though it claims to be tinting, I did not see any tinting effect at all. So you definitely have to reapply it after eating and drinking. However, it does wear off nicely. Instead of reapplying you can also let it fade out over the day without reapplying and it won’t look weird.

Overall I still have come to love this lipstick because the color is really unique. It was disappointing that it was not the color I expected it to be, but I still quite like the actual color and would recommend it especially during winter for a healthy, glowy look.

I also love the packaging and how you can chose your favorite case. However, when you add up the price of the lipstick itself and the case, this is not really that cheap anymore. I guess it’s good marketing from Etude House that I still wanted to get this product.

It seems like this could sell out fast so if you are interested don’t wait too long to get it!

  1. It’s really sad that the colour didn’t fit the swatches but it still looks nice, I’ve never tried any lip product from Etude House but I’m planning to get one, I’ll remember now to check swatches made by bloggers before I buy any lip product from EH 🙂
