Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Toner Pad Review:
The Goodal Vitamin Pads come in a yellow, screw-top container, and a mini pair of thongs for sanitary purposes. The container itself is non-leak and sturdy. The mini thongs are really cute and portable, and they can be reused for other products as well, such as sheet masks.
The pads were fully soaked with the toner product, which made me really satisfied as I have used previous toner pads that were almost dried in the container. The mini thongs were really useful too, the fact that I didn’t have to stick my fingers in to peel the pad off from the other made me really ecstatic! The pads are soft and thick, which makes it easy to use without breakage.
The ingredients are really promising, with Citrus Tangerina Extract high in the ingredient list and a hint of Niacinamide. However, there are a mixture of essential oils – lavender, lemon, bergamot and orange, which can cause irritation to sensitive skin users.
I wanted to write a review about a month and a half in of using these pads daily, to fully gather my thoughts on what I thought about the pads. I started using them when I had a massive hormonal breakout, which were on my cheeks and chin. My hormonal breakouts were cystic (un-poppable) so I wanted to see how’d they work with my raging skin. The product is recommended for all skin types, from dry to oily.
My night time skincare routine as follows:
Note that although I have combination skin, I do have very dry skin patches on my breakout areas. I do realize that if I don’t exfoliate and moisturize enough, I breakout even more. I try to use oil free moisturizers such as the Cosrx Snail 96 Essence, which is known to have a healing effect as well.
I got the pads on June 3, 2019 and started using them at night only. It smells citrusy but nothing too crazy, and the scent fades away after using it on your face. Please note that the pads can also be used on other areas of the body such as chest, back and neck (or other acne areas).
I use the smoother side around my eyes, forehead and the sides of my nose. I realized that it really removes my makeup thoroughly, as I wear makeup to work every day. I would see mascara residue on the pads. As for the rougher side, it goes on my cheeks, nose (where the blackheads are), eyebrows and chin.
During my first week of use, I did not notice any improvements on my acne. To be honest, I felt like it made it worse, I’m not sure if the oils (citrus, lavender and bergamot) caused skin irritation. My skin was red and irritated. However, I have used products with these oils before and did not have a reaction. It may be linked to my bad diet and the absence of 8 cups of water a day, lol!
On my second week, there were some noticeable changes on my pigmentation and scarring on my forehead. My scars were slowly fading, but I’m not too sure if the pads caused this significant change – as the Corsx Snail Essence has always done the job of fading scars quickly. As for the third and fourth week, till current – my thoughts remain the same.
I feel like these pads did not really help my breakouts, however it does exfoliate gently by removing my dry skin and provide adequate hydration as the first step of my skincare routine. As for brightening my skin, I may not have used them enough (it has only been a month or so) to comment on brightening. I do not see any changes in my skin tone yet, but I hope to see some in the next couple of months.
If you have dry, flaky skin (with minimal breakouts) that need an all in one gentle exfoliant and hydrator, this is the product for you. On the other hand, I do not feel like it works well for acne prone skin, as it might cause irritation and redness. It may work better after active breakouts subside, but I still feel like it does not cause significant improvement.
As this product was highly loved by the beauty community, I was quite disappointed when I did not achieve any noticeable results. I did expect more from it with frequent use, but it felt as though I was using regular toner on my face with a hint of improving my skin texture.
The claims put an emphasis on brightening and safe for sensitive skin, however the essential oils may cause an irritation for acne prone skin. It does a great job at removing dry skin flakes and moisturizing, but nothing more than that.
Overall, it’s a great first-step for my night time skincare routine, but it does not live up to its “brightening” claims.
My Rating: 3/5
