Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion Review:
I got the Hada Labo Gokujyun from Lazada in their 12.12 online promotion. The original price was $14 and I got it in the combo with Hada Labo Gokujyun Cleansing Oil for $18 – 2 good-quality products for $18 guys! I used a product from Hada Labo once and it was the Hyaluronic Acid Lotion. However, I did not pay attention much on the product efficacy. It just did not cause breakout for my skin. That’s all I need at that time. Now I am better aware of the ingredients and how they can be combined.
Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion is an upgrade version of the Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion. The product was released in Fall, 2015. However, I only heard of this recently. Since Lazada imported products produced in Japan and sell them in my home country.
It can provide mask-like hydration for all day zero-dryness.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion Review:
They say that this product most fits combination to dry skin. However, I am excited about the 5 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. Therefore, I decided to get the product and did patch test. Luckily, nothing happens. My skin is quite reactive and the fact that no breakouts happened told me to go forward with this guy. Here are my detailed review after 1 month using this product.
I actually believe that the manufacturers chose the brownish bottle for reason. Doesn’t it give you a sense of “premium” product? Light brown color makes the bottle appear classier than other lotion products of HadaLabo. Moreover, I’ve learned little Japanese, not enough to interpret the labels. I could only depend entirely on the Vietnamese label attached on the bottle.
Regarding the convenience upon dispensing the product, I would give a 9 out of 10. The flip cap is traditional for the majority of Hada Labo lotion products. I did not give it the highest score, since I would prefer a pump. Moreover, the total volume of the bottle is 170ml, therefore you may not be allowed to carry in hand luggage if you travel by plane. For other means of transportation, the cap would keep the product well in the bottle without spillage.
No scent at all. It is proved in the ingredient list.
Ingredient list analysis:
In cosdna terms, this is the skin-friendly ingredient list with no harsh or irritating items. Although butylene glycol is noted as grade 1 in acne trigger, I do not think this will be a great concern as many current skincare products use this ingredients and nothing bad happens.
You may be concerned by the appearance of methylparaben. Yet, no significant study has indicated any cases of cancer or harmful effects on customers. Afterall, methylparaben is one economical preservatives that helps retain the product quality from bacteria and external factors and that has the lowest safety index in cosdna – indicating that it is the safest among the paraben derivatives.
The main part is here: what makes this lotion premium. You may wonder, “why do we need hyaluronic acid with different molecular weight?” Imagine that your skin is combined by different layers and they lay on top of one another. Having a variety of molecular weights is beneficial because the hyaluronic acid molecules will penetrate deeper into your skin.
The smaller the molecular weight, the deeper it can be absorbed in the skin and the greater amount of water is kept in your skin. However, there are drawbacks to smaller molecular weight. There are concerns raised by the finding that smaller molecular weight of hyaluronic acid may be inflammatory for some people. Hence, there are some people who cannot tolerate hyaluronic acid in skincare products.
Gokyjyun Premium Lotion contains 3 common-known molecular weight that can be found in Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion: hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid (nano hyaluronic acid), sodium acetylated hyaluronate (super hyaluronic acid) and sodium hyaluronate. In the premium lotion, we have 2 new guys in the club.
They are: hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate (skin absorbent type hyaluronic acid) and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer (3D hyaluronic acid). Both of these molecular weights allow more water to be carried into your skin, making your skin look plumped for a longer period of time.
The texture is a thick kind of liquid, or a light gel. I thought that upon applying this product, my skin may feel sticky. However, I did not feel anything at all. The product absorbs well within seconds after I pat the product on my skin. Right after you apply the lotion (2-3 minutes), you may notice a pleasant glow on the skin. Awhile longer later, your skin will remain plumped and well-hydrated.
I am agreed that the product does help retain my skin’s hydration through out the day. I guess it must be because of the multi-weight molecular of hyaluronic acid. On winter days or drying days, this products came out as a true superhero. My skin feels particularly plumped minutes after I’ve finished my skincare routine.
Throughout the day, I noticed that my skin did not pumped up as much oil as it used to. Moreover, I cannot explain but I think that, if you have difficulty to even out your sunscreen or makeup, one of the reasons is that your skin is not adequately hydrated. If this is the case, you can fix it by incorporating this in your routine. My personal experience is that I apply the sunscreen much easier than I did before.
A fully hydrating skincare routine, in my opinion, should go like this: Gokujyun Premium Lotion => serum with active ingredient => sheet mask (optional) => moisturizer. On the day your skin feels dry or irritated, you can absolutely combine this lotion with the centella asiatica serum from Skin1004 to make lotion mask or a pure sheet mask. They work well together.
1 – I would never repurchase this and I would recommend everyone not to. It even did not perform its primary job.
2- It caused me many problems. I would not repurchase this.
3- Neither good nor bad. (I may only use this in case of emergency. If anybody gives me as a gift, I would use it. I will not buy it myself hehe)
4- Pretty good. I will buy again unless I find some better option.
5- I’ll repurchase this. I will even buy extra ones as I do not wish disruption because the product is used up.
