[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Holika Holika Jellime Highlighter 02 Feel So Champagne

Holika Holika Jellime Highlighter 02 Feel So Champagne Review:

If you following beauty trend, then you must’ve heard about the famous jelly highlighter from Farsali, a very well-known beauty brand from America but it’s too expensive I won’t even buy it myself. Not long after, so many brands start to make their own version of the Jelly Highlighter but with a lot more affordable price. Because of curiosity, I decided to get the one from Holika Holika, a brand I already familiar with.

Holika Holika named their product Jellime Highlighter because it’s a highlighter in a slime texture. It’s bouncy and a little bit sticky and if you ever touch a slime, the texture is pretty much the same. I can say the texture is close to the ‘original’ one from Farsali but I don’t know about the quality since all the reviews I found are in Korean (and I don’t understand anything at all).

Jellime Highlighter is available in 3 shades and I think for a highlighter, the shades range is pretty good. There are pink, silver, and champagne colors and since highlighter shades are more universal, you can find any shade that will suit your skin tone. If I’m not mistaken, Holika Holika releasing this highlighter as a part of their ’Sparkly’ collection which consists of this highlighter along with sparkling liquid liners.

For a product like this, I think it’s understandable that it will come in a jar. When I opened the lid for the first time, there’s a seal to protect the product inside and it’s made from a thick plastic material. You have to pull the seal but you can’t stick it back so you have to make sure you always close the lid tightly or the product can get dry and can’t be used anymore.

The one I got is in shade 02 Feel So Champagne and as its name, it’s a champagne shade that will suit every skin tone. Highlighter in champagne color is the universal shade because no matter what your skin tone is, you can definitely use it.

Because of my undertone, the gold undertone in this shade looks really vivid but I really like it, it blends into my skin perfectly well. It does have tons of gold and silver glitters and on the face it’s very obvious. If you don’t like glittery highlight, I think you won’t like it.

The texture is really like a slime. When I touch it, it’s very bouncy and it feels like I touched a jelly. To get the product, I have to press a bit harder with my finger. Usually I just scoop it out with a clean face spatula, put it on the highest part of my face (such as cheekbones, brow bones, nose, and the cupid’s bow area) then tap it with my sponge.

It doesn’t come with a special brush or sponge so I think you can use any methods to apply it but from my experience with liquid and cream product, it will be hard to use brush because it can get streaky and leave brush strokes, it also won’t blend properly so I won’t recommend it.

You can use finger to get full pigmentation but I prefer to use a dampened sponge instead. With a sponge, the result will blend into the skin better and it looks more smooth as well.

It has a pretty finish, very glowy and makes your cheekbones look very luminous but I don’t like glittery highlighter too much so I don’t like the result when I wear it alone by itself. At the end of the day, I can see glitter particles fall out all over my face.

I try to find a way to lessening the glitter fallout and the best way to avoid it is to top it with a powder highlighter or use this highlighter as a base.

Usually a powder highlighter will stick to your skin and last so much better if you wear a cream or liquid highlighter underneath so I try layer it with my regular highlighter and surprisingly the result looks so good!

It makes my powder highlighter looks more shiny, glowy, and it gives my skin a wet effect which I love the most. I also see minimal glitter fallout throughout the day so I guess it’s better to use it as a base.

When wearing it alone, the lasting power is average. I still see shines on my face after 4 to 5 hours then it starts to fading, leaving some glitters only behind. As a base, it helps my highlighter stay for all day long, but remember to use a same tone highlighter so it won’t look weird.

Overall I think this product is average and not too special if it’s not for its texture. I don’t think I will get another shade of this and maybe I won’t use it again in the near future unless I need a good highlighter base.

The price is very affordable so it doesn’t break the bank but somehow I have high expectation from this product. I hope other brands make a better version of this highlighter.
