[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Holika Holika Nudrop Dewy Stick 01 Bare Coral

Holika Holika Nudrop Dewy Stick 01 Bare Coral Review:

The NuDrop Dewy Stick is one of the new products belong to the NuDrop Collection from Holika Holika. Based on what they describe, it’s a moisturizing lipstick that will give you comfort and supple effect. I rarely use a moisturizing lipstick since it fades too fast for my liking but because their claims are too good to be true, I decided to try it to see if the claims are true or not. I have tried the Nudrop cream blusher form the same collection and to be honest I’m not too fond of that product. It fades too fast so I’m hoping the lipstick will last longer on me.

Holika Holika made the lipstick in only 4 shades but all of the shades are in natural color with warm undertones. I’m a big fan of natural lip color thus i had a hard time in choosing only one shade. If you are a fan of bold or dark lip color, then this collection may not be for you. Actually 4 shades is not enough but since the purpose is for ‘no makeup’ makeup look, I think it’s understandable (though I’d be happy if they include more shades).

Holika Holika Nudrop Dewy Stick 01 Bare Coral Review:

When I saw the lipstick, it really matches the cream blusher. Both are packaged in a plastic material packaging with a beige color and transparent lid. Not the best packaging in my opinion but for the price I can’t ask for more. It feels a bit fragile though but so far I didn’t see any cracks or broken pieces even after it fell down accidentally several times.

The lid is quite hard to open. I have to pull and push the lid with a bit of strength to open the lipstick and make sure that the lid closed properly. I’m still okay with it but the biggest problem for me from this lipstick is how the bullet can’t be twisted down!

Lucky I only twist up a small amount so I can still close the lipstick without damaging the lipstick bullet itself. I don’t know if I got the bad product or Holika made the packaging like this. I really hate it when a lipstick can’t be twisted down.

The bullet itself has a round, large and flat surface. With this shape it’s hard to get precise application especially because I have small and thin lips. I can’t reach the cupid’s bow area so I have to blend the color with my finger to cover my whole lips perfectly. Fortunately, because it’s a creamy moisturizing finish, I can wipe it off easily if I make a mess.

From 4 shades, I got mine in 01 Bare Coral. Holika claims the shade as a peachy n*de pink but the shade is totally different on my skin tone. On my hand, the shade looks more like a deep coral shade but on my lips the shade is more like a light beige pink. I really like the shade though because it can brighten my complexion and still look natural.

This type of shade will suit people with fair to medium skin tone the most and on deeper skin tone, this color may be too pale and can make you look ashy. If you still want to try the lipstick, you can choose shade 03 or 04 as those are darker and deeper in color.

For a moisturizing lipstick, it has good pigmentation. Not as good as a matte lipstick but still I don’t have to apply several times to get a full pigmentation. It leaves a stain behind but on my lips the tint doesn’t last that long (I have dry lips) so if you don’t have dry lips, maybe stain tint will last longer on you. The stain won’t dry out your lips like a water tint does so don’t worry about that.

The texture feels really smooth like butter and the application is really easy! The interesting thing is it has a glossy finish but after I let it set for a few minutes, it turns into a beautiful satin finish. I’m not sure how it can change like that but the satin finish really make my lips look soft and supple even though I have a lot of dry patches here and there.

As for its performance, I honestly surprised to see that this lipstick actually stay all day without eating. If you eat oily foods, the color will fade of course and you need to re-apply. It lasts about 4 to 5 hours without eating and for a moisturizing lipstick, it is really good.

The shade will fade from the inner part to the outer part of your lips so you won’t have a blotchy lips. It’s not transfer-proof though so don’t be surprised if you see lip mark anywhere your lips touch. Because of the finish, you can remove it with a micellar water, cleansing oil, or any gentle makeup wipes. You don’t have to wipe it off harshly because it can be removed very easily.

I think this lipstick is perfect if you want something light and natural yet still brighten your complexion. You will love it even if you have dry lips! The shade range may not very satisfying but for a natural lipstick, I guess it’s okay, especially since it has a wonderful performance. I won’t say that this will be my favorite since I love liquid lipsticks more but I do like it and will keep using it in the future.
