[REVIEW] Huxley Secret of Sahara Brightly Ever After Essence

Huxley Secret of Sahara Brightly Ever After Essence Review:

Huxley is a pretty niche brand that is actually picking up some steam in South Korea as well as in the rest of the world. It features prickly pear seed oil from the Sahara Desert in all of its products to promote a healthy and glowing complexion.

I was recommended the Brightly Ever After Essence for brightening and hydrating effects by a close friend, and decided to give it a go.

So, does it live up to its hype?

Huxley Secret of Sahara Brightly Ever After Essence Review:

Upon first opening the bottle, a pleasant fresh green scent was very prominent, and that is perhaps from the prickly pear. It disappeared after a few minutes of application, so it wasn’t too intrusive or strong.

If you are extremely sensitive to fragrances in skincare and beauty products, you may beware of this essence. I have been told that many, if not all, of Huxley’s products have the same scent from the key active ingredient of prickly pear seed oil.

The packaging is quite minimalistic and sleek. The product is encased in a white glass bottle with a white dropper, making it easy to get the desired amount out. It is made of glass, so there’s the element of fragility that may not make it the perfect companion for travel, but you can always decant it into a plastic bottle if that is the case.

The essence has an extremely thin consistency that is almost as thin as a regular toner. It is completely white in color, reminding me of something akin to rice water. It absorbs extremely quickly into the skin, so you don’t need to spend a lot of time tapping it in, which is convenient. Once it has absorbed and dried down, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky or stuffy, which is great for people with oily skin.

Huxley Secret of Sahara Brightly Ever After Essence Review

Over the course of the past three months, I have finished half of the bottle, and that is with daily use in the evening. I have definitely experienced the moisturizing effect of the product, however, it hasn’t really done much in the brightening department.

As for the anti-pollution protection effects, I haven’t noticed any major improvements, either. On the bright side (pun intended), it hasn’t harmed or irritated my skin in any way, so this may be a good option for those with sensitive skin.

Unfortunately, the product isn’t cheap — it currently retails for USD40.80 on StyleKorean. For that price, I could find similar essences for less that would perform just as well if not better.

Quite frankly, I was a little disappointed — it really did feel like a moisturizing serum more than anything. Huxley did suggest using the entire line as a whole which includes the toner and cream as well as the essence, but then again, based on what I’ve seen so far, I am not sure whether I would be willing to splurge on that.
