[REVIEW] Huxley Secret of Sahara Toner; Extract It

Huxley Secret of Sahara Toner; Extract It Review:

I have to admit this… I am all about aesthetics. If there is a product with excellent reviews but comes in an unattractive packaging, I would give it an immediate pass. I need my skincare family to work for my skin as well as look pretty on my skincare shelf.

So having said this, I got myself sucked into the Huxley hype because lets face it, their packaging is everything. The design is minimal yet luxe, so I convinced myself that I needed another hydrating toner (I didn’t need another toner obviously, but that is besides the point). I was actually pretty wary about the strong Huxley signature scent that everyone kept talking about; it is either they love it or they feel it is overpowering. Now, I would normally avoid strong scented products, but I succumbed to the beautiful packaging and just went for it!

Huxley Secret of Sahara Toner; Extract It Review:

This Huxley toner comes in a luxurious clear glass bottle with a white cap. It is pretty heavy, I always be extra careful not to drop it whenever I use this. This is definitely not travel-friendly, so you would have to decant it in a suitable container.

This toner has a watery consistency and absorbs into the skin fairly fast, leaving it feeling so smooth and matte yet well hydrated. Since its texture is very lightweight, this works great for the 7-skin method.

But the scent… Holy moly, the scent!! The first time I opened the cap and took a whiff, my immediate reaction was, “WHOAA!!”. It was that strong. The first few usages were a struggle for me as the scent was overwhelming that I felt like I could taste it in my throat. And it lingered for about quite a while even after I have applied my moisturizer on top.

I have no issues with smelly products; at least I know they’re not overloaded with fragrance. But heavily scented products are a big no-no for me. Serves me right for letting the beautiful packaging lured me in, huh?

After prolonged usage, I have somehow gotten used to the scent but I still consider it to be pretty strong. Due to this, I have been reaching for it less and less. What I really like about his toner (apart for the packaging, of course) is the lightweight consistency.

My skin drinks it up and leaves a smooth hydrated finish. I especially love to apply I’m From Vitamin Tree Water Gel on top of this toner and my skin would feel crazy smooth that I can’t stop touching it (bad habit, I know!).

After incorporating this toner into my routine, I did not notice any positive / negative difference. It works well as a normal hydrating toner, and that’s about it. It does not have any wow factor to it. It also has a higher price tag compared to other hydrating toners in the market.

I will finish up this bottle (will take me a while since I don’t reach for it too often!) but I will not repurchase.

I would recommend this product to those who wants to splurge on a pretty looking hydrating toner and loves fragranced products. Sensitive skin folks should approach with caution, as fragranced products could cause irritation.
