Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lip Balm Review:
I am a lip balm addict. Not because I love the look or anything, but because my lips are really dry and really sensitive – so I must always have something between my lips and the horrible pollution here in Seoul. Before I came here I just used lip balm to keep my lips moisturized, so anything would do really, but after coming here the pollution and the extremely dry winter weather really took a toll on my lips and allergies. Regardless, this cream has ceramide aaaaaand ato in the name! Of course my expectations are over 9000! But is it as good as it promises?

Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lip Balm Review:
So you can see I used a bit of it before I took the photo, but before I started using it was so beautiful! A completely flat surface that actually looked like wax. It was really nice and pretty.
Anyway, since the first application I could feel the amazing moisturizing effect, it is literally immediate! Which is amazing, because when I got it I had forgotten my lip balm at home and needed moisture as an emergency.
Although it looked like wax when it was new, the lip balm has a very dense and sticky texture. Similar to the Innisfree Canola Honey sleeping pack. Good, dense, intense even.
After using it a few times I realized another use for it, but I’ll get into that later.
This is how shiny the lip balm looks after application. It can stay like this, depending on whether you mind stickiness and shine.
I didn’t try this because I have hooded eyelids and any sticky feeling makes me very uncomfortable, but I’m sure with this amount of shine it would be amazing for the (currently in fashion) shiny eyelids look.
Anyway, it has the sweet smell of candy, but not like a children’s lip balm. It smells like an adult candy lip balm. But nice to me, and nothing that bothers me!
You can see how sticky it is, it grabbed the toilet paper completely! The photo also shows how moisturizing it is, the paper is transparent where it’s touching the lip balm.
But not to worry, if you hate this type of intensity and already bought it I will present a solution!
You apply the lip balm. You wait a few minutes. You lightly pat it with an absorbing paper (like toilet paper tehe) and most of the stickiness will be gone. But you can see in the photo lots of the moisture remains, as it is still shining even in this situation.
And this is the other use for this lip balm!
Candy lips are a half-trend since last year’s summer. They have been partially popular in Korea, and I wish they were more popular. Every now and then you can see candy lips being used, they are as popular as a semi-gradient right now.
To make candy lips look, you take a candy color (I got red), apply it in a gradient or semi-gradient look (I did semi gradient as you can see).
And just apply your shiny surface on top of said lip color!
It looks yummy, yes? Like candy!
Because the moisture of this lip balm lasts for an incredibly long time it’s good as a lip balm and as a lip top coat.
Now if I must… there is a problem with this product, for me at least. For lips that need protection and not only moisture.
As I said in the intro, I need something to put between my lips and the external aggressions. There is a lot of pollution and my allergies are crazy, especially in spring, unless I protect my lips.
This lip balm is very moisturizing but it does not protect the lips at all.
So I got a small allergy (stress and pollution kill my lips), and the lip balm didn’t protect them (I was using it every day all the time). So I got… a worse allergy. As if it was untreated.
What happened at the time was I got a reaction on my lips. A couple of infections and open wounds. And kept applying this lip balm (with a cotton swab) as a protective lip balm, while applying my allergy medicine while indoors.
Usually, with, let’s say, a Labello lip balm or Vaseline the reaction would go away slowly but steadily. But this lip balm, as moisturizing and relieving it was, didn’t provide moisture so my moisturized lips kept plumping and the reaction didn’t go away! So… I got very fat and plump lips, that were still reacting to whatever it was.
But I must admit, for once the allergic reaction didn’t hurt or dry my lips. So it really soothes and moisturizes.
But to put it simply, it does not protect the lips, but it heals dryness, chap, lack of moisture. I can use it other than winter (too dry causes my lips to react to pollution more) and pollution season (here it’s mainly in spring). Outside of those seasons it’s a perfect lip balm.
But did I mention it’s the perfect dry lip and chap moisturizer? If you don’t have allergies, reactions, or sensitive lips then 100% recommend!
