[Review] Innisfree It’s Real Tea Tree Squeeze Mask Sheet

Innisfree It’s Real Tea Tree Squeeze Mask Review:

Innisfree’s approach to skincare focuses on natural ingredients. Furthermore, I am attracted by its CSR efforts in building a more sustainable environment and thus have started to purchase more of their products in recent years. I was out the night before and only slept at 4am, culminating in a few breakouts the next day (beauty sleep is real, y’all!). I decided to try Innisfree’s tea tree mask hoping that it’ll tame those wild pimples which I have decided to name Kim, Kendall and Kylie.

Tea tree is known to have anti-bacterial compounds to reduce acne inflammation and unblock sebaceous glands. It can help in disinfecting the pores as well – and the benefits do not stop there. It helps to lighten scars as well! Is tea tree amazing or what?! Let’s check out how this mask fared!

This mask claims to help with skin problems using tea tree (6th ingredient on the list; 200mg), while keeping the skin moisturised and clean at the same time. It contains Jeju green complex which comprises of green tea, cactus, tangerine, camellia leaves and orchids that can keep the skin healthy (see benefits in the table below). This sheet mask is triple-layered, meaning that it has a long-lasting moisturising effect which allows the essence to be absorbed gradually into the skin.

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Ethanol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Tee Tree Leaf Juice (200mg), Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tangerine Peel Extract, Orchid Extract, The Green Tea Extract, Camellia Leaf Extract, Prickly Pear Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

How to Use:

  1. After cleansing and toning, apply the sheet mask on your face (pop it in the freezer for a more refreshed feel!)
  2. Leave on for 10 – 20 minutes before removing the mask
  3. Massage gently with your fingers to facilitate absorption of the remaining essence
  4. Follow up with your usual skincare routine (you do not need to wash it off)

My Skin Type:

My skin is oily and acne-prone but with a dehydrated base. I tend to breakout during PMS and also if I lack sleep, am stressed or go on a fast food rampage. Sigh!

Innisfree It’s Real Tea Tree Squeeze Mask Review:

The packaging has a very simple, yet elegant feel to it. I’ve noticed that all of Innisfree’s product packaging comes in this form and even the stores itself have a very nice and natural concept, which is unlike Etude House’s pink and princess-y concept.

I opened the packaging by tearing on the small slit on the side and out of the packet I detected a slightly leafy, yet artificial smell. Fragrance is the last ingredient on the list so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. However, I do not really like the smell but it was bearable because the smell is quite faint.

The thickness of the mask is on the medium side and it felt slightly stiff. Essence was clear. There was also not much essence on it (perhaps I’m more used to MBD’s dripping masks with their generous essence) and in the packet there was minimal leftover essence of about 5 drips.

I spread the mask on my face and the fit was great and the adherence was alright. I walked around with the mask on my face and the sides and nose area (which are usually my adherence-problem areas) managed to stay on relatively well.

I had this on for 30 minutes before taking it off. There were no significant effects except that my skin looked brighter. It also did not leave a tacky finish, so you can choose to use it in the day as well.

Sadly, this tea tree mask was unable to tame Kim, Kendall and Kylie and the pimple family continued to reside in my humble abode. Some masks such as My Scheming’s Skin Clarifying Astringent Mask has been more useful in taming my breakouts.

My skin felt hydrated as well, and I gently patted the remaining essence on my face in, which took about 2 minutes to be absorbed. I followed up with my usual skincare routine.

Is it just me or did my skin before masking looked better? This mask has been useful in helping to even out my skin tone and I also noticed some brightening effects. However, there were a few things I did not like about it – the essence (or lack thereof), the fragrance, as well as the thickness of the mask.

My skin always looks more blush-y right after I cleanse and exfoliate, and the redness subsides after a while even when without masking. The redness is only of concern during my PMS and thus I can’t credit this mask with reducing redness because even when using my normal morning routine sans masking my redness subsides after 20 – 30 minutes.

However, when I woke up the next morning, my pimples reduced in size by about 30%. My skin’s smoothness lasted for about a day.

I had such high expectations for you, Innisfree. I am disappointed with the performance of this mask but might consider repurchasing due to its affordable price. I feel that there are better masks out there for acne.

However, this mask is quite mild and can be used on all skin types, especially for you lucky people with little to no acne breakouts who are looking to purchase some affordable TLC products.

With that being said, I will still continue to support Innisfree because their Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask still remains as one of my HGs
