[REVIEW] Innisfree Seaweed Soothing Mask Sheet Moist Soothing Sargassaceae

Innisfree Seaweed Soothing Mask Sheet Moist Soothing Sargassaceae Review:

Lately I have been using a lot of masks made out of seaweed, since it’s a fashion currently in Korea. I must say beforehand this mask has nothing to do with the Mamonde Seaweed Dustcut mask! I mean, maybe a little, after all it’s seaweed, but there are other masks this is more similar to. Seaweed should be good for the summer, and Jeju is the place in Korea with the most (and the best) natural resources – so Innisfree being a Jeju brand it’s no use they used Jeju seaweed. Although you may be surprised with the other ingredients in the mask, and their origins.

Innisfree Seaweed Soothing Mask Sheet Moist Soothing Sargassaceae Review

As you can see there is nothing special to the design. If I must comment on it, I will just say it’s well made enough that at a glance I saw it was a hydrating/moisturizing mask where the mask sheet itself is made out of seaweed. The mask pouch also seems too big for a single face mask, but that’s just me complaining.

The pouch opens… easily? Yes. Prettily? Definitely not! I would have rather cut it open! Also I can see right away I was right and the pouch is unnecessarily big. The mask is completely soaked and there is a little essence left on the pouch which I will use as a neck mask at the same time.

The mask sheet itself is soft right at first touch: that’s a characteristic of seaweed mask sheets! The other characteristic?

I know what you’re thinking, “that’s just the essence” – but it isn’t! It is also the essence, as you can see in the video. But I tried a seaweed mask (from another brand) when it was dry, without essence, and it is also because of the real seaweed in the mask itself! Fascinating, right?

Supposedly the seaweed being in the mask also (not only in the essence) makes the moistness of the mask sheet last for a longer time so that even people like me (people that always have dry parts in mask sheets) can enjoy it for the full recommended time, and also improves the absorption of the essence into the skin by not drying before the time is up.

The fit is good, but the mask is very slippery! More slippery than other brands’ seaweed masks. I think that as long as I don’t talk or move my lips it’ll be fine though. It fits just the right size of my face (the perimeter of the face) and fits my nose well, which is unusual for a Korean mask as they tend to be for less huge noses.

It is still made for less dramatic faces, you can see it folds close to the edges, but it fits all shapes, I would say! My face I think is an average size, so this mask seems to be average sized, except it folds a little on the chin.

The essence is milky looking, but when you touch it it seems like it will be very sticky! It is not. When I scrub it there is a bit of foam (there must be a mermaid in the essence) and soon it absorbs. So when you use this mask and are patting the essence into your skin don’t freak out when you see the “bubbles”.

The smell is fresh and not too weak not too strong – but at first I thought it was of alcohol! Of course there is no way it smells like alcohol, it’s just a fresh and unidentifiable smell. Since the product has ginger, orange something, green tea, lemon, etc etc just imagine an equally fresh smell.

The mask doesn’t really dry for a long time, it’s moist still when it’s removal time, however as usual I will follow the instructions in the package (but feel free to do it as you please, it really takes a long time to dry). It takes so long to dry it feels slippery right until the end.

The results are barely visible in the photos, so I will describe them. The freshness of the mask soothed my redness, it soothed even my top lip where the mask touched it. The pores are relatively smaller, which means that it hydrated the skin (it means that on my skin specifically, but still it means that the mask is hydrating for all skins).

It does feel a little moisturizing! It is not sticky at all but it does feel a little heavy compared to just-hydration masks (another thing that shows it does moisturize a little), so I would advise doing your liquid skin care before this mask.

My skin is quite comfortable after using this mask, fresh, hydrated and moisturized, so I don’t feel any rush to complete my skin care (although of course I will, down to the sun cream).

I feel pretty! Although I wish I had applied my liquid ampoule before the mask. The effects aren’t crazy visible, but they are something that you definitely feel! Although we all like it when the results show, today is the day after the hottest day of the year, and so this freshness and care were something I needed.

I recommend this mask for all skin types, since it absorbs quite well, except extremely sensitive skins (with open wounds or so). My skin is a sensitive and it was fine, but I have a small cold and have been blowing my nose a lot, and I did feel a small burn on the corner of my nose – although the mask removed all of the redness and helped healing it. I’m particularly happy that it helped also with my lip irritation.
