iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil Review:
If you are into k-beauty, then you might be familiar with double cleansing. This two-step cleansing technique consists of using an oil-based cleanser to get rid of dirt, makeup, and sunscreen residue before using a water-based cleanser. For someone who only wears light makeup (or no makeup at all) daily, I didn’t think I needed to do both to fully clean my face. Boy was I wrong! Ever since I added an oil-based cleanser as the first step in my skincare routine, I noticed a huge improvement. Particularly, I saw a decrease in the number of blackheads and whiteheads on my nose.
Once I realized the importance of double cleansing, I made it a goal to find the perfect oil-based cleanser for me. Most k-beauty enthusiasts prefer to use cleansing balms such as the Banila Co. Clean It Zero or the Heimish All Clean Balm. I’ve tried samples of both and I found them effective but also inconvenient. To me, the idea of using a product which comes in a tub (with a lid that you’d have to twist open and a spatula to scoop out the product), is just too bothersome so I decided to get an oil cleanser in liquid form instead.
The brand iUNIK was fairly new to me when I got this product. I had read great reviews about the brand from a lot of Instagram influencers so I got intrigued. So when a Shopee store carrying iUNIK products went on a 50% off sale for Black Friday last year, I immediately got it. If I remember correctly, I scored this for only $12 which is a decent price for a cleansing oil.
I’ve been using this product for about three months now so I think my opinion about this is now pretty solid. You what that means right? It’s time for a review! But before that, here are some things you might want to know…

iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil Review:
This cleansing oil comes in standard plastic container with a pump. Since the bottle is clear, it is easy to see how much product is left in the bottle. The oil itself has a golden color which is pretty to look at. Details about the product are written clearly on the bottle (doesn’t fade despite being constantly in contact with water in the bathroom). Using the pump, dispensing is easy to control. As for me, I find that two pumps are enough to clean my whole face and neck.
I’m not the biggest fan of the scent of this. It is kind of a sweet floral in my opinion (maybe it’s the natural smell of calendula but I don’t really know what that smells like). At first, I hated using this product due to the scent but after constant usage, it doesn’t bother me anymore.
Consistency and Feel:
As a cleansing oil, it works pretty well. It’s able to remove any grime, sunscreen residue, and makeup (except for my really stubborn lip tints). Beyond that though, I find the consistency of this too thick that I feel like I’m dragging a lot on my skin to clean it. This is a personal preference but I like oil cleansers with thinner consistencies.
This oil emulsifies upon contact with water but leaves a film of oil even after rinsing. I know that shouldn’t bother me since I’ll be following it up with a water-based cleanser anyway but it does.
Overall, I think this is a nice oil cleanser. It does the job well without stripping the face of moisture. However, this is not my favorite because it is thicker than what I personally like. I know that some people actually prefer oil cleansers with thicker consistency so I’d recommend this to them. I might consider repurchasing this product when it goes on sale again since it is still a good product.
