[Review] JayJun Cosmetic Real Water Brightening Black Mask Sheet

JayJun Cosmetic Real Water Brightening Black Mask Sheet Review:

I have been seeing JayJun Multi-step masks at the local Watsons for a while but I don’t really bother picking them up since I am not quite familiar with the brand. Apparently, JayJun Cosmetics is a known brand in South Korea founded by surgeons and dermatologists from leading skincare clinics. I don’t know about you but the brand appealed legit to me as soon as I’ve learnt this.  So I ended up buying a few multi-step masks from the said brand, now let’s see if it was smart of me to jump into conclusions.

JayJun Cosmetic Real Water Brightening Black Mask Sheet Review:

You see, I am not very used to using multi-step masks so even if I knew that I would be using this mask one night, I have unconsciously cleansed my face with Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil before using Step 1: Real Water Cleansing Foam.

Bummer, I wanted to test its how efficient the cleanser is. Anyway, the cleansing foam is of milky consistency with a bit heavy but pleasant smell. I have read somewhere that it is quite acidic but I didn’t bother checking with a pH strip because, well, it is just 1.5ml of a product so I don’t really see the point.

The cleanser felt gentle on my skin –I had to empty the sachet for it doesn’t foam well. I’m happy to report that my face didn’t feel dry or tight after using it. It is worth mentioning that my face is noticeably brighter after using this cleanser, I am pretty impressed.

After air-drying my face, I applied Step 2: Vita Snow Essence –a water-gel type of essence so it felt a bit thick than usual. Despite the fact that I applied it very thinly on my face, I still needed sometime for the essence to be fully absorbed by skin.

Then, I proceeded with Step 3: Real Water Brightening Black Mask Sheet which comes with a clear, water-gel essence. Honestly, I feel that the mask is just soaked in Vita Snow Essence. The material of the mask is of really good quality a good absorbent cloth that is very comfortable to wear. The fit may not be the best but it was very good! I also like the fact that it’s got eye flaps, this way, I need not to keep on slathering left over essence on my eye lid! I wore the mask for about 25 minutes and it’s still damp when I remove it.

Since the essence is on the thicker side, I had to pat the remaining essence on my face for a few minutes to help absorption. My face felt really hydrated but it felt a bit tacky too. The brightening effect is a bit underwhelming because I was expecting a lot!

I am happy to report, however, that it didn’t cause me any breakout. I was afraid that it will clog my pores or something because honestly, it felt a bit too much for my face. Although, it may have been a while since I woke up with a little greasy face.

Overall, JayJun Cosmetic Real Water Brightening Black Mask is a product that is worth trying out. I feel that this would have worked better for me during colder months. I would probably get this and try it again when the climate gets better. With that said, I would only recommend this mask to people with normal to dry skin or to be used during colder months if you happen to have oily skin.

  1. I looooove Jayjun masks in general, but as you said: during colder months (which are also drier here) <3 Anything between spring and beginning of the autumn to me is already too "sticky" for these ultra moisturizing masks

    • I have yet to try the one that you reviewed! I think it’s more best selling than this variant too. I would definitely give it another go, probably when my skin feels drier than usual. 🙂
