[REVIEW] Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème Light 5

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème Light 5 Review:

Honestly my least favorite part on my face is my undereyes area. It’s dry, full of fine lines, and they are so dark. I have really bad dark circles under my eyes and I have to apply concealer to lighten those up everytime I want to leave my house.

That’s why concealer is a staple thing in my collection, it’s something I need to bring everytime I go on a trip. I tried so many concealers before, from the cheapest one to those which prices are so up there I can’t even understand why I bought them. But I keep buying them just to try different brands and until now I only have 2 favorites so far.

This time I decided to purchase the infamous concealer from Kat Von D, the Lock-It Concealer Crème. If I remember correctly, they released a concealer with a similar name in a small tube packaging but they upgraded to this new version.

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème Light 5 Review:

One thing I love the most from Kat Von D is she makes tons of different shades for her products, including this concealer. She has 20 shades available from fair to deep and she even has a white shade to make the lightest shade even more lighter!

I planned to get myself the shade Light 1 since I have really fair complexion but I chose the wrong shade and got myself the shade Light 5 but surprisingly that shade worked perfectly to highlight my undereyes area. She has detail description for each shade so read carefully before you choose your shade to buy.

She described shade Light 5 as a fair cashmere with neutral undertone and I have to agree with her. The shade has neutral undertone which is perfect for my skin tone and it’s light enough for my undereyes. She made light shades for neutral and warm undertone but I didn’t see any of the fair shades will match cool undertone. If you have cool undertone, the lightest shade you’ll get is Light 13 which I think it’s might be too dark for fair skinned girls.

The concealer came in a black box cardbox and as typical Kat Von D, it came in a black packaging with gothic vibe on it. She is a tattoo artist so it’s no surprise to see her products with this kind of design. As any other concealers, this concealer is stored in a bottle packaging and I have to say the size is quite tall for a concealer. It’s made from plastic and really travel-friendly as I brought it with me several times before without any damage on the bottle.

For my routine, I applied the concealer under my eyes after my foundation and set it with a matte transparent powder. I usually use a compact powder but loose powder worked perfectly as well. It has a thick texture so to avoid cakiness, I used a damp beauty sponge to blend it.

I don’t like using a brush because it cannot blend properly into my skin. This concealer dries really fast so you need to blend it as fast as possible or it’ll be too hard to blend. My recommendation is to work on section so you can have time to blend before it dries.

The shade is perfect to lighten my panda eyes and it has good coverage to cover my blemishes and dark spots but it’s too thick for my liking. I have so many fine lines on my undereyes area so it will sink into those lines and make it look so bad. It also didn’t have a good lasting power because I can see it creasing only after a few hours (4 to 5 hours) after application even after I set it with powder.

Will I repurchase it again? I don’t think so. It emphasis my fine lines too much I don’t even want to see it under my eyes but it’s good to cover imperfections so I would suggest people with dry under eyes or with mature skin to avoid this concealers. There are so many better concealers in the market for under eyes area.
